As my colleague Mark Finkelstein reported Tuesday, MSNBC's Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann labelled long-time Hillary Clinton advisor Howard Wolfson a Tokyo Rose-like traitor due to his current affiliation with Fox News.
On Wednesday, during an interview with FNC's Martha MacCallum, Wolfson struck back by mentioning how unfortunate it is "that a news organization with a great tradition like NBC has been taken over by those kind of antics."
That was just the beginning (video embedded below the fold, h/t Johnny Dollar):
Sweet.
Update 23:47 | Matthew Sheffield. Wolfson raises his remarks one step further, promising to oppose Chris Matthews in 2012 if the "Hardball" host decides to pursue a Senate race in Pennsylvania.

August 27, 2008 - 14:42 ET by MikeknaJAs I stated in another thread, MSNBC execs are making a deal with the
devil by giving Olbermann so much power. The short term gains are not worth
the long term consequences. It's strange to see a network that is now openly cheerleading for the liberal side, if you look at their primetime line-up, be so willing to blatantly thumb their noses at a large portion of that demographic. Hillary and her supporters aren't going anywhere, regardless of whether Obama wins.
MSNBC, by letting Olbermann get away with crap like this - especially when it's during his supposed fair-minded anchor time, not on his opinionated show - is digging their own long-term grave.

These Lefties are over confident and it's showing - now more than ever. As Mr. T used to say, "I predict Pain".
These jokers are going to show their true colors and bc more and more Americans are thinking about politics over the next few days than have in the last four years, the results for the liberals will be the opposite of what they wish....this is great.
Bring it on Lefties. Shout what you believe from the rooftops for all to hear.

August 27, 2008 - 15:18 ET by Rush FanI couldn't agree with you more. I only hope the KOSMSNBC grave is dug sooner rather than later.
What amazes me is that a large defense contractor, such as GE, would take the chance of offending Republicans in Congress and in the White House by permitting their network to move completely to the left. Do they believe that the Democrats are going to retain Congress forever? Do they believe that their network's constant bashing of Republicans will have no adverse affect on their contracts?

I posted on another thread
August 27, 2008 - 15:48 ET by lumpythat KO has just written another diary at DailyKos, this one slamming the Post and Murdoch.
But here's the kicker. He's allowing commenters on his diary to bash his co-workers (Scarborough, Buchanan, etc.); their comments are not being challenged by him.

August 27, 2008 - 21:30 ET by Rush FanThanks for the link.
Here are a few comments from that Daily Kos link that are priceless:
"We--and America in general--desperately need the balance that you and Rachel provide at MSNBC . . ."
"In any event, much as I generally enjoy you, Chris and Rachel (if only
GE would get rid of the offensive, headache-inducing, racist Pat
Buchanan; Congressional-aide killing, philandering Joe Scarborough; and
Karl Rove's dancing partner David Gregory!)"
"Just wanted everyone to know that. I love you Keith and I appreciate what you are doing for this country."
"Thank you, sir, for presenting facts on a non-stop basis. I absolutely
LOVE how you refuse to bite your tongue when the traditional media
continues to fabricate stuff to change the subject or confuse the
masses. Well done! (I especially like your "shovel" remark when Joe
was throwing more dirt on the fabricated "rift" in the Democratic party
over Hillary. Superb!)"
"How did it get so insane out there, that there is not one bit of truth
on the airwaves? And how do you find the courage to counter it, almost
singlehandedly"
Makes you wonder what alternative world these Daily Kos bloggers are living in.

What blows my mind.
August 27, 2008 - 23:20 ET by lumpyHere's a 'journalist' who uses his real name and blogs on a hyper-partisan site where his colleagues/co-workers are roundly bashed by the website users. And his bosses let him get away with it. It's not only the severe conflict of interest (msnbc is going to let him co-anchor the GOP convention!!!) but that he doesn't challenge or refute those Daily Kos posters who are slamming his co-workers in his own DK diary. Unbelievable.

August 28, 2008 - 00:37 ET by Rush FanIf all Republicans, whether they be members of Congress or just commentators, had the guts and sense to boycott (not appear on) KOSMSNBC, perhaps that move would finally get the attention of GE/NBC executives. It would certainly get the attention of the advertisers that currently sponsor their programs.
Hit them in their pocket!

August 27, 2008 - 15:07 ET by danybhoyI love this, because it's true. NBC died when Tim Russert died. Old Tommy is doing what he can to keep things respectable, but he can't match the energy of the mental case, BathTubBoy. It is clear that HE wags the dog there. He does what he wants, he answers to no one at 30 Rock, & he has lead the charge over the cliff as far as NBC's good name is concerned.
He got Abrams & his rug dumped for his main man, the ever so sexy Rachel Maddow(or is it Madcow, or even "Man"cow?), & if I were Mathews or the Morning Schmo, I would watch my back. I am shocked Joe has'nt been fired yet for his on air beat-down of David Shuster. That was an extreme @$$ kicking, & it should happen more often.
NBC has gone hard left, MSNBC is all about getting libs elected, plus GE/NBC just bought The Weather Channel, & I think the whole idea is to push the extreme environmental agenda. The whole Al Whore/Global Warming/Cap'n Trade/Carbon Credit scam they are pushing is to make money on the "Green" economy. GE stands to make a fortune on CFLs(poison lightbulbs-mercury)wind generated power, & whatever else they are push. I see everything they are doing as a conflict of interest when it comes to their news division. If they have to put on hard left subversives to do it, so be it.

Word up on Joe Scarborough
August 28, 2008 - 04:20 ET by Jersey DaveWord up to that, I don't agree with Scarborough on everything but that was total domination. Especially on the oversleeping thing, and lack of work ethic. I mean, Scarborough was an actual Congressman. Matthews was a staffer for years for a Majority Leader in the House. They ahve to look at lightweights like Olbermann and Schuster and be like "And you are...?" It's not like a Bob Novak or Bill Press that have been there and done that as commentators and journalists and put their time in. Someone oversleeps a bunch of times, misses their obligation to my show, then comes on and tells me I'm not saying what I'm saying and probably thinks they can no probs and keep with the snark on MY SHOW I'd be a little miffed too. Come on, we all have had to cover when people didn't show to work and we had to work extra time or pull extra duty because we were a person short, right, then have that person come in later and be all snarky, no no that's not the right work ethic and Scarborough called the kid on it.
In the immortal words of Arn Anderson "It's about MY SPOT. Not my dog Spot, not a liver spot, not a spot on your shirt, MY SPOT."
I agree, Olbermann butted in on him and Matthews the other day and I think Scarborough honestly doesn't care if he steps back on the toes of those who have stepped on his and says a few things. Hey, if they're gonna fire him might as well expose them for the lightweights they are, and Scarborough has never had a problem speaking his mind.
If Scarborough and Tucker Carlson are "too conservative" for MSNBC to deal with, it proves that the MSNBC libs aren't just snarky, but scaredy. And, except maybe Chris Matthews, mostly lightweights who fear any opposing views or balance.
MSNBC is the liberal vision for American Media, post Fairness Doctrine. Think about that. If that doesn't chill you, what will?

August 27, 2008 - 15:33 ET by mattmThat was exactly my thought, but then I realized - Libs don't have to abide by the same set of rules as everyone else. They operate on a sliding scale of morality - whatever works at the time is A OK for them...

August 27, 2008 - 17:13 ET by nkviking75They whine that Fox News is heavily tilted to the right, but let someone from the left sign on as a contributor to speak for libs and they go into a hissy fit. I haven't studied it, but it looks to me like Fox has more liberal commentators than CNN or MSNBC has conservatives.

August 27, 2008 - 21:38 ET by danybhoyYour point about FoxNews liberal on-air talent is about right. But I'll go a step beyond you & say that Fox has more liberals then CNN & MSNBC have conservatives, COMBINED. Besides, if you are a fairminded patriotic liberal with a brain, & you have a choice to on Fox, or go with CNN or MSNBC, where would you go? You will be seen by more liberals if you are on Fox then you would on CNN or MSNBC, & you will be in a position to make your point to something outside of the liberal echo chambers of CNN or MSNBC.
