The Rev. Al Sharpton has some strong words for the Clintons: put your full support behind Barack Obama this week, or risk damaging your legacy.
Such was reported by the LA Times Tuesday, although it seems unlikely it will get much attention from media trying to present a unified Democrat image at the convention.
Frankly, that the Times "Top of the Ticket" blog would report this is somewhat surprising...and it will be even more surprising if it makes tomorrow's print edition (emphasis added):
Rev. Al is not happy with the Clintons.
With the Democratic National Convention abuzz with anticipation over Hillary Clinton’s speech to it tonight, civil rights activist Al Sharpton says she and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, cannot afford anything less than an extraordinary effort to help Barack Obama’s presidential candidacy -– beginning this week with an intensified push for party loyalty.
Otherwise, Sharpton warned today, their reputations within the party -- once sterling -- could be permanently tarnished. [...]
“It can damage their legacy in the long run if they don’t get a grip pretty quick,” Sharpton told The Times.
Think this will get a lot of attention in the next 48 hours? Stay tuned.

The Clinton's are between a rock and a hard spot and it looks good on them. It might even be too late. If Obama doesn't close this thing there are already those in the party that will hold it against them and start an anybody but Hillary movement in 2012. That being said, my suspicion is that Hillary will come out tonight, after avoiding sniper fire to get to the stage, with full support and guns a blazing for Obama. The facade will continue for two months. Meanwhile, Billy Willy and his attack dogs will being working double overtime behind the scenes. This years October surprise will be "anonymous" via Carville and the boys.

That's a good point BT. Obama is going down faster than the Titanic. And that's with a huge $$$ advantage and the most unbelievable "in the tank" media coverage ever. Fourteen months ago, before the surge and the Dem congress starting to embarrass themselves, if you had predicted a Rebublican win they would of locked you up and put away the key. But 14 weeks, let alone months, is an eternity in politics. The 3 weeks before Obama's vacation were all fought on McCain's terms, namely oil. At this point I think Iraq, the price of gas, the economy all work in McCains favor. If I were the Rebublican's, I would also keep hounding away on patriotism and the company you keep as well. Obama just doesn't hold up to scrutiny.

for something appearing to be so serious, it's been downplayed by the media for some reason. i just saw that there were no charges filed ... and because of that i find it odd. with people like sharpton trying to start a race war at every turn, it wouldn't surprise me if the "assasination plot" (the suspects were white) was a ruse of some sort. there ARE many out there who say anyone not voting for obama is only doing so because they are racist ... even though many of them are voting for him because of his skin color.
i just have a subtle feeling that people like sharpton and jackson profit from all things racist and electing a black president would doom their careers. sadly, i do think race will play into this election, not from the people voting, but from an al sharpton-type ...

I think the manufactured opinion outlets have such an ingrained "racist response switch" that they automatically jump to conclusions with certain situations. This is just one of them.
As for Jesse"Ballz Off"Jackson and Al"Taxes, What Taxes" Sharpton, well, as racist is defined , those two deserve 1st ballot entry into the Racist Hall of Fame. I wouldn't worry about their bidness profits though, IF Barry is elected, they will champion the attacks against all who are critical of him as racist, therefore ensuring the continued flow of "protection" money into their coffers. Minus what Al owes for back taxes, of course.

I don't know if I'm tired or brain dead from all this DNC tizzy that NBs is in but WOW. I mean, is it not racist to vote for someone solely because of their skin color. That hit me hard.
