Make That 58 States: Obama Adds Eau Claire to the List!

In May, Barack Obama said he had visited 57 states in America, and the mainstream media were largely disinterested.

On Sunday, the presumptive Democrat presidential nominee added another to the growing list of united states:

Eau Claire [Wisconsin] is a big important state.

I kid you not (video embedded below the fold):

Should we expect our so-called impartial media to report this gaffe?

On a related note, Obama on Saturday also confused where his running mate Joe Biden is from:

Maybe it's this resiliency, this insistence on overcoming adversity that accounts for Joe Biden's work in the Senate. Time and again, he has made a difference for the people across this country who work long hours and face long hours. This working class kid from Scranton and Washington has always been a friend to the underdog and all who seek a safer and more prosperous America to live their dreams and raise their families.

Actually, the Messiah meant "Wilmington," as there is no Washington in Delaware. Amazingly, George Stephanopoulos mentioned this gaffe on Sunday's "This Week."

This raises an important question: with 2 1/2 months left before Election Day, and Obama's clear cartographical ignorance, just how many states will there be in this country if he actually wins?

The McCain campaign will need more than a 30-second commercial to show a compilation of gaffes made by Obama, everything from "inhalators" to "arugula" to ad infinitum.

Obama is an incompetent, ignorant man who hasn't the intelligence or experience to head a large corporation, much less the United States government. He is the product of a poor, biased education and policies like affirmative action which place "minorities" into positions while pushing aside competent white males. And instead of appreciating all that has been literally handed to them because of their race, he and his wife knock America every time they have a chance. Ah now I understand why when Obama was in Sioux Falls, South Dakota he said "Thank you, Sioux City!". He wasn't talking about that city in Iowa. He was referring to one of the 58 states!

I love how he never catches himself on these gaffes. He never says, "Oh did I say state? I meant to say Eau Claire is an important city." And I also love how when he then proceeded to try to emit cheers and applause with his usual "we're gonna win this election" and "change" nonsense, the reaction of the crowd seemed rather tepid. Maybe because they found it troubling that he didn't know their city was not a state like Wisconsin!

You're right--he never does correct himself. But, I think it's just an unwillingness to admit that he made a mistake, not that he doesn't realize it. Whether it's not admitting that "the Surge" worked or not admitting that he said that he was in 57 states, he's too proud to admit that he could ever make a mistake in speech or in judgment. That's the way it seems to me, anyway.

Bush often got his chops busted for failing to admit his mistakes (i.e. agree with his media critics.) I guess that's not a problem for BHO.

...but given the ridicule Dan Quayle received for the verbal gaffes he made you'd think that someone in the MSM would either a) point out that BHO has far surpassed Quayle in the embarassingly ignorant statesments made or b) apologize to Quayle for the unfair treatment he received.

There's a difference.

You see, Dan Quayle was vice president. Therefore, it was right to criticize him for making verbal gaffes, as he was not the brains of the presidency and therefore did not need to be subjected to constructive criticism.

President Obama is running for the presidency and therefore should be subject to a higher standard of criticism.

It doesn't surprise me that Obama keeps making gaffs like the number of states in America and can't seem to differentiate between cities and states. After all, he sees himself as a Great Emperor and views large metropolitan areas as City-States, like what composed the empires of old. Obama sees himself as the New American Caesar.

The daughters thing wasn't a gaffe...it was a just plain stupid statement.

Unless you consider a gaffe a mistake that makes your real feelings known....

If he really feels that way, I'm assuming he's going to provide birth control for both his daughters when they turn 12 or 13...so that the unthinkable won't happen and they won't have to undergo an abortion!
