A new group has been launched to brainwash America's teenagers with a "youth-focused version" of Nobel Laureate Al Gore's hysteria-filled and factually inaccurate schlockumentary "An Inconvenient Truth."
Even scarier, its founder is the daughter of a key partner at the venture capital firm Gore joined last November.
Based in Menlo Park, California, Inconvenient Youth is a non-profit group looking to "mobilize young people to educate their communities about environmental science" in order to solve global warming.
Isn't that sweet? Now Gore's got kids brainwashing other kids to further climate hysteria in the hopes that Congress will eventually enact a carbon cap and trade program that will likely make him a billionaire.
As reported by MarketWatch Friday:
Inconvenient Youth, a new non-profit, non-partisan network for and by teens has started recruiting and training young people to fight global warming. Today the group launched with a three-day workshop on climate change at Stanford University attended by youth from around the world.
The inaugural training will run from August 15-17 and is based on the acclaimed "An Inconvenient Truth" presentation by former Vice President Al Gore. Eighty students from as far away as New York and Japan are learning how to educate others about global warming and what they can do to fight it. Sessions include environmental science backgrounders, breakout discussions, brainstorming and plenary meetings. [...]
Inconvenient Youth is a non-profit network founded and driven by a team of four teenagers based in Menlo Park, California. Their goal is to mobilize young people to educate their communities about environmental science and solutions using a youth-focused version of "An Inconvenient Truth." The network is working to build enough momentum to make a real impact in solving global warming. Among the actions recommended by the group are grass-roots campaigns, forming campus climate clubs, and video recording sessions with city council and congressional members.
But here's where it gets interesting:
Keynote presentations will be delivered by Mary Doerr, founder and executive director, Inconvenient Youth.
It turns out that Mary is the daughter of John Doerr, a partner in the venture capital firm that Gore joined last November, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. As NewsBusters reported on May 2:
Untangling the web further, one of the key partners at KPCB, legendary moneyman John Doerr, also spoke at the TED conference in March, and as can be seen in this video, bragged about how he and seven of his colleagues lobbied legislators in California for the passage of AB 32, The Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006.
As Doerr proudly exclaimed, this made California "the first state in this country to mandate 25 percent reduction of greenhouse gases by 2020."
Later, Doerr told the audience something that should answer everybody's questions concerning what all this climate hysteria is about:
We've got to make this economic so that all people and all nations make the right outcome, the right profitable outcome, and, therefore, the likely outcome. Energy's a $6 trillion business worldwide. It is the mother of all markets. You remember that Internet? Well, I'll tell you what: green technologies, going green is bigger than the Internet. It could be the biggest economic opportunity of the 21st century.
And, as we reported back in May, Doerr's VC group -- much like Gore himself -- has made HUGE investments in companies creating green technologies.
Now, Doerr, his VC group, and the Global Warmingist-in-Chief have a new brainwashing entity to assist them in spreading the hysteria which will make their investments pay off.
Will media EVER make and REPORT this connection?

Yes sir, it is brainwashing at this point.
August 17, 2008 - 13:13 ET by JWFHumankind has been burning carbon based fuel since first cavemen learned to rub two sticks together in the 1981 movie "Quest for Fire". With little to no deleterious effect to mommy earth.
The entire economy of the planet, ney man's entire existence depends on carbon based fuels right now.
It is all about the carbon cycle, we take carbon out of the ground and pump it into the air in the form of carbon dioxide. The argument should be how much good we are doing the planet by ramping up the carbon cycle not trying to shut it down.
Hopefully I did not offend anyone with this post.

Yes sir, it is a good thing.
August 17, 2008 - 13:26 ET by JWFOther plants take in the extra CO2 and ramp up growth. Plants such as corn and wheat and other people foods. Other plants such a trees, which have many people uses. Other plants that animal nature type life feed on, such as berry bushes and seaweed that animals feed on and lead to more abundant wildlife.
Sorry about your lawn, Mr. Foolican, I myself must mow much more often now. I too am saddened by this.

"Toning down," is the better choice. The more you mow, the longer they grow. A mowed lawn and well-trimmed plants actually grow continually during the season while mature lawns and plants reaches a point of maximum growth, at which point photosynthesis slows down considerably. If you want to sequester the maximum amount of CO2, you need to have continually growing plants.

So will they only learn from the IPCC, with its mere 2500 scientists, or the 30,000, including 900 PhD who will tell you that there is no reason to be concerned about CO2 from man-made (industrial and vehicular) sources? You see:
But then what do you expect from Democrats, who now have adopted a philospphy of "total lies" as a matter of policy?
Schools
August 17, 2008 - 13:35 ET by usbeefThe schools are already doing this. Thank God I graduated before the teachers started with the global warming hoax. When I was in school, some of the teachers were pushing Michael Moore's anti-Bush agenda and the anti-gun agenda. The empty ideology of diversity was being pushed more than anything and it drove me nuts. We even had an entire day at school called "Diversity Day" where we listened to seminars from a gay couple, indians complaining about mascots, and a dozen other things that we were forced to choose from. Instead of 4-H now we have environment cults taking over.
There is absolutely no hope for America's future if schools are allowed to force their agenda on developing minds. After high school it gets even worse in college. Just look at all the mindless college students that support Obama.

August 17, 2008 - 15:43 ET by magicalangelicusI'm here in Silicon Valley and have a first row view of the VC-infused hysteria. Hence, the "green-everything" VC events wherever you turn in the VC comunity.

Um, no, for every industry in America has regulatory requirements to prevent them from misrepresenting their products or lying to consumers. Doctors, lawyers, nurses, stock brokers, bankers, realtors, lenders, insurance agents, etc., etc., would be fined and potentially banned from doing business if they took advantage of consumers in the fashion Gore is. The only reason he's allowed to do it is because he's a liberal, and folks in the media are drinking the same Kool-Aid.

Falsely declaring there to be no serious opposition to his previous declarations strikes me as the very definition of a lie.

August 17, 2008 - 19:41 ET by CortillaenRead my post below for a reiteration of the problem. There is the sale of goods or services of questionable value or necessity, and then there is the sale of goods or services of questionable value or necessity while being assured by the vast majority of the media that they are both invaluable and completely necessary. All scams are based on the withholding of information pertinent to the goods or services being offered. In this case, Gore is using the willingness of the media to protect his "merchandise" from the light of honest inquiry to grant said merchandise the facade of legitimacy.

August 17, 2008 - 19:59 ET by Noel Sheppardm,
Well, if his lies on this subject are guiding public opinion in favor of legislation that will end up harming the consumer -- cap and trade, for instance -- then the real abuse is still to come.
However, folks that are spending money today on green products because they think they are saving the planet from global warming are indeed being duped. CFLs come to mind. And people that are buying hybrids for this reason rather than fuel efficiency are similarly being exploited. Solar panels. Etc.
Now, one could argue that there are benefits to green consumer goods beyond just CO2 emission reduction. I understand that. BUT, if consumers are making buy decisions because they think they're saving the planet from global warming, they are being duped into parting with their money under currently false pretenses. If the salespeople in my company used unsupported claims to sell what we offer, I'd be put out of business by the various regulatory agencies that monitor my industry. Make sense? ns
Actually, no.
August 17, 2008 - 19:02 ET by CortillaenCapitalism is predicated on the people having sufficient information to evaluate the worth of a given product or service. Since the most in the media are actively betraying their duty to the people by trying to hide Gore's scam behind a curtain of propaganda, half-truths, and outright lies (but I repeat myself), it can't be said that Gore's scams prosper because the people deem them worthy. The only way he can be held up as having a shred of credibility is with a massive effort on the part of the MSM to prevent real debate, real science, and real information from reaching the people and to smear any source that tries to do otherwise.
If Gore's scams were really "the economically fittest", they could stand up to scrutiny. Instead, they must be obscured in the shadows cast by the dishonest remnants of what were once "news" organizations.

Totalitarian-minded people throughout history have always aimed their more serious indoctrination tactics at the young and impressionable among their people. The Nazis did it, as did the communists. This is no different, as the environmental movement is really nothing but a far-left political movement. One that has little or nothing to do with the environment.
The sad thing is, these kids aren't old enough to remember what things were like during the hideous Carter years. They have no point of reference to draw on. They also are rather ignorant of the serious damage our current environmental policies have done to this nation's economy.
If we do not act to increase the supply of oil soon, we could be seeing prices as high as $6.00/gal. by next summer. I am really not sure this country's already feeble economy could withstand that. What concerns me most is that the people who are brainwashing these kids are hoping the price of gas goes even higher, and it is not because they want to save the planet, either.
-Its because they want to take it over once they have driven the world economy into the ground.
As far as I am concerned, the single greatest threat to the near-term future of this country (behind the teacher's unions) is the environmental movement.

RD re: environmental movement...
August 17, 2008 - 20:53 ET by Clear thinkerI too see many dangers with the "environmental movement". I could go on forever about what they think are great ideas, which are for the most part rediculous, but instead I have decided to spend my time using their own words against them in my new blog. It's mostly for fun, but it does point out how stupid and dangerous alot of these people are.
What they really want is... TOTAL CONTROL OVER OUR LIVES.

Psychologists Brainwashing Youth for the Earth!
August 17, 2008 - 23:39 ET by nofateSpeaking of brainwashing, here is an article about some people that feel they are experts in the field. Remember reading about how the Soviets used to send “uncooperative” people to psychological evaluations?
From USA Today, and from Powerline News:
"American Psychological Association getting into the global warming game"
…”Armed with new research into what makes some people environmentally conscious and others less so, the 148,000-member American Psychological Association is stepping up efforts to foster a broader sense of eco-sensitivity that the group believes will translate into more public action to protect the planet. ”We know how to change behavior and attitudes. That is what we do,” says Yale University psychologist Alan Kazdin, association president. “We know what messages will work and what will not.”…
…”By editing CNN and PBS news stories so that some saw a skeptic included in the report, others saw a story in which the skeptic was edited out and another group saw no video, Krosnick found that adding 45 seconds of a skeptic to one news story caused 11% of Americans to shift their opinions about the scientific consensus. Rather than 58% believing a perceived scientific agreement, inclusion of the skeptic caused the perceived amount of agreement to drop to 47%.
American Psychological Association leaders say they want to launch a national initiative specifically targeting behavior changes, including developing media messages that will help people reduce their carbon footprint and pay more attention to ways they can conserve. They want to work with other organizations and enlist congressional support to help fund the effort.”
…”Vakoch says more research is needed to encourage greater sensitivity to the natural world.
"We are recognizing that environmental problems have a tremendous impact on many aspects of our lives, but we need a lot more work," he says. "We can't afford to let this increased environmental concern become just another fashionable trend."
No, we must enlist the help of congress to pass laws making it unlawful to be "ungreen". These people are watermelons!

August 18, 2008 - 17:46 ET by wizardjrI was reading where Her Hindness The Empress Peolsi has a big financial stake in companies that will benefit hugely from carbon trading and 'green' stuff. If we drop the price of oil to around $65 to $70 a barrel and put a stake through the heart of this AGW shibolith, she'll lose millions.
Oh what a surprise.
