Noel,
August 5, 2008 - 22:37 ET by RESTLESS 1Perhaps I missed something in the video, as the kids are sleeping and I had to keep the volume down some, (sound reverberates through this house like you wouldn't believe), but what was so great about the energy policy? Sounded like she said we should tax oil companies to pay for aternative research. Shouldn't that decision be left to the companies, as to where they want to invest their profits? I don't trust govt. to do any meaningful research, and my tax dollars shouldn't go to private companies for research. I am all for companies funding alternative energy research, but not being forced by govt. to do so.

We're having some fun here, man. You really want to debate this twit's energy policy that she presented in a $500 bathing suit? C'mon.
Okay, let's do it. She says she wants a hybrid of McCain and Obama's proposals:
As I said, I think this is a MUCH better plan than what Obama, Reid, and Pelosi are proposing. You disagree? ns

August 5, 2008 - 22:54 ET by Cool ArrowSounds like a plan to me.

Restless - I don't mind being serious - I think this is serious
August 5, 2008 - 23:10 ET by Dee BunkReally - even an air-head bimbo can see that we need a comprehensive solution and that is what Republicans and McCain want. Paris unfortunately has media mush brain when it comes to understanding what Republicans are proposing because she doesn't even realize that McCain is advocating a comprehensive plan. It's not her fault really because the media doesn't like that word to get out.
I do agree that lowering the tax rate overall is preferable. Corporate tax rates in the U.S. are too high and it just causes non compliance through loopholes or cheating or just moving businesses out of the U.S. I'd still prefer tax incentives vs not lowering or raising corporate taxes though.
Dee,
August 5, 2008 - 23:21 ET by RESTLESS 1Tax incentives vs. Tax increases. Yeah I agree with you there, but I still find it offensive when the common thief known as our govt. offers me some of my money back if I toe their line.

August 5, 2008 - 23:12 ET by Noel Sheppardmom,
Yes, but you raise a good point: "I will be impressed if Paris can convince Nancy Pelosi to expand offshore drilling."
Is it possible she speaks for her generation concerning this? The recent Zogby numbers showed a huge decline in Obama's support from 18-29 year olds. Maybe drilling is an issue for these folks. Maybe 18-29 year olds, out on their own and supporting themselves, are the most impacted by high energy prices. Maybe these folks want drilling for this reason, and Paris hit on this.
Just saying. ns
California dreaming or California drilling
August 6, 2008 - 00:11 ET by mom_roxI wasn't aware of the Zogby numbers. Very interesting. Are there any polls on offshore/ANWR drilling separated by age groups?
Hard to say the basis for Paris' comments - her parents (who are/were supporting McCain - perhaps, pragmatists?) or reality (the impact of high CA gasoline- though it doesn't affect her personally, but she might see the impact on others).
Noel, you raise an interesting theory. Her generation was not around during the Santa Barbara spill, and they were 10 years old or younger during the Exxon Valdez spill. By the same token, her generation was not around during the Three-Mile island release and may have a favorable view of nuclear energy.
Like I said, I think it was a clever "I'm not a ditz ALL of the time" reply. Plus, I'll be doubly impressed if she can solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
A government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.

August 6, 2008 - 00:36 ET by candanceI slightly disagree. As you alluded to in your post, she's not as stupid as she lets on and her parents are involved enough to be McCain supporters. She might not have to worry about gas money, but even she can see how fretful everyone is over energy.
I can pretty guarantee that after this video has been out for a while, more and more teens/young adults will be echoing this - and if it paves the way for domestic drilling who am I to complain.
I'm with Noel - I don't think she just spouted a script without at least a basic understanding of what it meant. She obviously had someone write it down for her, but she did manage to appear like she really believed and understood, which is more than we got from Nancy Pelosi on Sunday.
I say give the girl the benefit of the doubt. At least she isn't using her fame to peddle some dumb idea like "use it or lose it."

Which was McCain's whole point in using her in the ad about why the adoration for Obama...especially the msm too.
If anybody goes and rereads my posts from the beginning, I never implied that I thought this was funny... I had seen this numerous times already on the msm...the left loved glorifying in it... I was speaking politically.
I'm not a guy, I don't think she's funny one bit, I don't think she is pretty one bit, and I sure as hell don't think she is a sexy woman in any way...camera angles may work for the horny fella's out there...but she is a dime a dozen...except she has money...she doesn't need it to pay to be a slut...she does it for free.

August 6, 2008 - 08:10 ET by Hero SquadSo I take it you are voting "Die"?
I give it a "Funny." Probably the funniest thing she's ever done (intentionally). Not that the bar was very high on that one, but she obviously has a sense of humor about herself.
I thought it was surprisingly sharp satire. She talks for the first half like we expect her to... then she suddenly has this lucid moment where she's describing details of a viable energy policy. Sure, she probably has no idea what she's saying, but it's hilarious hearing those big words come out of her mouth.
Sort of reminds me of those moments in SpongeBob Squarepants where Patrick Star suddenly shirks his overwhelming dimness to make astute observations.

Those comments had nothing to do with her video. I thought we were to stick with the topic. Frankly I am sick of seeing guys on here talking about women in that manner. It reflects poorly on themselves and their commitment to their wives. It is disgusting.
Amber
August 6, 2008 - 12:07 ET by Noel SheppardAmber,
Excuse me, but I made a statement with a humorous double entendre. You equate that to specifically referring to genitalia in what some might consider a disparaging fashion? ns
it's all good Noel
August 6, 2008 - 12:13 ET by candanceGuys look at a pretty girl in a bikini, there's bound to be some joking about her looks. You wouldn't be a hetero man if you didn't.
But what does kind of bother me is the "her skanky tail is looser than a whore's." IMO those kind of personal insults should not become conservies.
I disagree, I know plenty
August 6, 2008 - 12:46 ET by amberI disagree, I know plenty of men who never refer to women as though they are a rag doll solely designed to be a vessel for their sperm.
So, you don't mind when men craftily say they want to F... a total stranger, probably 20+ years their junior? I understand why you would take offense to my previous comment, it was visually appauling.
I will also add that it is
August 6, 2008 - 12:55 ET by amberI will also add that it is not the object of the joke that makes it OK, it is the person who says it. "Getting behind" Ann Coulter would be terribly disrespectful to say, but because Paris acts the whore it is ok to say that about her? I disagree. When I read that, I do not see clever wit, I see the one saying it actually wants to replace their wife with her, I see the one saying it actually enjoying giving it to her from behind. It is not a joke to me. It is what is wrong with many marrigaes today. People do not respect or honor their spouses. There is truth behind most jokes. Would you want the man you love to joke about replacing you with Paris Hilton or giving it to her from behind? Seriously. It really saddens me. It is wrong.
For the record, I am not a fat, ugly woman.
Noel, I do not find that
August 6, 2008 - 12:43 ET by amberNoel, I do not find that humerous at all. I think it is disrespectful. As a woman and a wife, to hear married men refer to other women in a sexual fashion is a betrayal to your spouse. We are to honor and respect and love our wives and husbands, speaking or writing in that manner does the exact opposite.
My comment above was very harsh towards Ms. Hilton and I appologize to her. I am sorry if she was hurt by that. My anger is not directed towards her it is directed towards the hosts of men who think it is fine to disrespect women and their wives.
Amber
August 6, 2008 - 13:13 ET by Noel SheppardAmber,
So, when comedians like Henny Youngman and Rodney Dangerfield make jokes about their wives, they're being disrespectful? Or when a comedienne like Brett Butler makes a joke about her husband, that's disrespectful, too? ns
Noel
August 6, 2008 - 13:49 ET by amberYes.
I don't like any of the comedians mentioned either. Probably for that reason.
Amber
August 6, 2008 - 14:01 ET by Noel SheppardAmber,
Well, fair enough. However, for decades, most comedy has had a sexual element to it. Even the Marx Brothers going back to the '20s used a lot of double entendre. Groucho was always putting down Margaret Dumont, and always had a younger gal he was chasing in every film. So, I'm not sure where you draw the line. Mae West and WC Fields are other examples. ns
Noel
August 6, 2008 - 14:07 ET by amberNoel, I do not have a problem with sexual comedy or comedy about marriage. I can joke with the best of them (but I would never disrespect my husband or make him the object of a joke, never). What was posted above was not sexual comedy, it was sexual fantasy at the expense of women and wives.
Amber
August 6, 2008 - 14:31 ET by Noel SheppardAmber,

August 6, 2008 - 13:44 ET by Dee BunkI thought about saying something also but because all but one (not including Noel) of the people involved were people I've had problems with, I chose to remain silent and try and direct the subject to a more appropriate angle because I knew if I said something it would be some long drawn out fight. I'm surprised at what is happening with you. The one person I'm thinking of hasn't tried to defend the behavior yet and I'm sure would apologize to you or I or any other female who said they were offended.
In the past when I've found sexual innuendo offensive the conservatives here have always been respectful about it and just said sorry and stopped. Liberals never have. It seems too many people want to be like liberals here any more and find them to be something to emulate. It never used to be like that.
I thought Noels initial comment was fine (under the line) but the comments to follow were not. We all have different lines and it's too bad that people don't have enough respect to just stop and apologize. We all know how men can be and I'd never think less of any of them if they stopped and/or apologized. It's so disappointing how they dig in and try to turn us into some sort of prudes. We can't change what is said here, we can only change who we have respect for.

Sorry you were alone last night. I did not see the thread but from what I gather, I would be in agreement with you.
Hi BT - I'm sorry for you last night also
August 6, 2008 - 14:14 ET by Dee Bunkit was late and I was going to bed and just didn't want to get involved because, as I said, there are so many on this thread who don't like me - it's become a sort of club that I really just want no part of anymore. Rude crude and totally unattractive is how they are perceived by me.
I'm far from a prude either and don't mind some harmless sexual banter here and there. It's a respect type of thing that is individual for everyone and I really can't believe how this site has changed because the regulars used to all be very gentlemanly.
There has definitely been way to much liberal influence here and unfortunately I think it's here to stay. They are just so "cool" you know. Some people are very influenced by "cool".

Still can't say you were
August 6, 2008 - 14:04 ET by amberStill can't say you were wrong? My comments were only illustrating the kind of women you wanted to bang from behind and other posters wanted to trade their wives for. Yes, my comment was visually appauling (go ahead and delete it the point was made), but you are the one who put the video up and ENCOURAGED the raunchy behavior. It isyour thread to control and you did a very poor job of that.
Amber
August 6, 2008 - 14:34 ET by Noel SheppardAmber,

I thought you were smarter
August 6, 2008 - 14:51 ET by amberI thought you were smarter than that. Go ahead, tell you wife you thought it was funny to say you wanted to bang Paris from behind. Ha ha. Maybe she thinks it is harmless, I do not. Maybe you should tell the other women working there, or maybe you should tell some of the women reporters you get to talk to, I be they will see the humor too. Sorry you think it isOK to talk about women like they are objects for your ejactualtions. (See I can do double entendre too)
You don't get it, actually I think you do but you can't say you are wrong, so I am done with this. I made my point.
Noel - I'm not offended by words
August 6, 2008 - 14:45 ET by Dee BunkI know a lot of people here like to get into that - words are just words to me and the types of words people use don't offend me.
What offends me is a lack of respect for women and conservative posters on here.
Are you honestly saying that what Amber said about Hilton and her anatomy and appearance were offensive to you or other men on here? I have a hard time believing that, but she did apologize anyway.
I don't expect men here to understand our lines necessarily but Amber, BT and I all thought the behavior here was distasteful. It didn't have to do with words used but lack of respect for wives and women in general. The gentlemanly thing would be to move on. I can't believe people are trying to defend it. As I said, I have my problems with most of the offenders here and I've come to the realization that they are not going to change and neither is this site. I'm going to do my best to just ignore them but I do find it offensive how you seem to love and defend all of them. It is what it is and I'll just do my best to ignore the stuff and stick to the topics when possible.
I could understand this happening to me because I've been pretty relentless in not backing down to these people but from what I've seen of Amber, I can't understand why people are being so disrespectful to her. It's just a different kind of place here and I've come to accept it. It's too bad. I used to really like everyone here (even Leon) except for the drive by trolls. I can't see that happening again now.
So feel free to have all the fun you want with your buddies and carry on with your male bonding. I know I'm not going to change it and I'll try to ignore it but when I see someone else being attacked by them I'll be chiming in because it's not right.

Noel did the right thing by noting it without any additional commentary. Watching this video reminded me of the last time I listened to an automated telemarketer calling program leave a message on my voicemail. Two mindless machines exchanging absolutely nothing while someone listened in out of sheer idle boredom.
The scary thing is that some of what she says actually makes sense ... I would much rather vote in whatever election she thinks she is now a part of rather than the real one the rest of us are stuck with though my candidate would be William Shatner. And to give credit where it's due I actually commend Team Obama with coming up with the only possible response to this: "Whatever."

August 6, 2008 - 09:38 ET by ambernot really, she said she did not know what his energy policy was and then described the one she supported which was practically identical to McCain's. She showed she is still uninformed and that Obama is an idiot.
I know, amber. Its just that my derision for McCain...
August 6, 2008 - 10:08 ET by R D Helm...has reached an extremely high level at this point.
His has got to be the weakest campaign by a republican since Wendell Willkie's. Then again, I guess it is hard to mount an effective campaign against someone you have very few real differences with.
It is distressing me to no end that so many are going to vote for this man simply out of fear of Barry-O. If McCain gets elected, he is going to make such a hard left turn that it will give him whiplash, and us along with him.
It will be the end of the conservative movement.

yeah amber
August 6, 2008 - 11:18 ET by candanceMcCain just got done running an ad in which he promised to "take on Big Oil" just like he took on Big Tobacco in the 90s.
Yeah...taxing and harrassing Exxon until they end up in Europe exactly like Phillip Morris...great solution there.
McCain knows he has the Republican vote and is blatantly courting indpependents.
candance, I saw that ad. John McCain is an idiot.
August 6, 2008 - 21:52 ET by R D HelmOf course, we all know why the politicians love to bash big corporations, particularly "Big Oil," as it has become the fashionable thing to do, even among many republicans who once knew better. This kind of talk is dangerous to this country's future economic viability.
Why is John McCain pandering to the government-schooled, loud car commercial viewers among us?
Exxon-Mobile is the only oil company that still is tied to this country in any significant way. If those idiot politicians are stupid enough to really go after them, they are all going to bolt, as there are fast-growing energy markets elsewhere they can tap, such as India and China.
Given the current hole the dollar is in vs. other currencies (particularly the Euro), and seeing what is happening to many formerly American-owned companies as a result, going after any of them in times such as these would be profoundly stupid.
Neal Boortz was in Europe recently. Ireland is benefitting hugely from our hideous 35% corporate tax rate. Neal related an encounter he had with some Irish businessmen, who told him flat out that they hoped the FairTax never passed into law in this country, as it would have a very negative affect on their country's economy.
Now, I realize McCain has said he wants to lower the corporate tax ratey, but, McCain has said a lot of things, IYKWIM?
We are not going to save this country by being polite to those who are working tirelessly (and succeeding right handily) at destroying it.

And incase anyone missed it (apparently everyone did!) Obama is also now talking about shale oil too. I am going crazy?

Obama agrees to drilling, shale oil, coal and nuclear
August 6, 2008 - 08:23 ET by PopularTechApparently everyone missed this! I have no idea how! And now Paris is parroting Obama and pretending she came up with it.
"I also believe that in the short-term, as we transition to renewable energy, we can and should increase our domestic production of oil and natural gas. [...]
We should invest in the technology that can help us recover more from existing oil fields, and speed up the process of recovering oil and gas resources in shale formations in Montana and North Dakota; Texas and Arkansas and in parts of the West and Central Gulf of Mexico. [...]
Over the next five years, we should also lease more of the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska for oil and gas production. And we should also tap more of our substantial natural gas reserves and work with the Canadian government to finally build the Alaska Natural Gas Pipeline, delivering clean natural gas and creating good jobs in the process. [...]
A group of Democrat and Republican Senators sat down and came up with a compromise on energy that includes many of the proposals I've worked on as a Senator and many of the steps I've been calling for on this campaign. It's a plan that would invest in renewable fuels and batteries for fuel-efficient cars, help automakers re-tool, and make a real investment in renewable sources of energy.
Like all compromises, this one has its drawbacks. It includes a limited amount of new offshore drilling, and while I still don't believe that's a particularly meaningful short-term or long-term solution, I am willing to consider it if it's necessary to actually pass a comprehensive plan. [...]
First, we will help states like Michigan build the fuel-efficient cars we need, and we will get one million 150 mile-per-gallon plug-in hybrids on our roads within six years. [...]
I'll provide $4 billion in loans and tax credits to American auto plants and manufacturers so that they can re-tool their factories and build these cars. [...]
In addition, we'll find safer ways to use nuclear power and store nuclear waste. And we'll invest in the technology that will allow us to use more coal, America's most abundant energy source, with the goal of creating five "first-of-a-kind" coal-fired demonstration plants with carbon capture and sequestration."
I am I the only one who watched his speech?

Obama's energy "plan" sucks
August 7, 2008 - 00:57 ET by PopularTechYes, it is filled with green rhetoric and subsidies out the ass but my point was that Paris' "plan" is effectively a part of Obama's energy plan and hardly newsworthy in of itself.
Two points here...
One is that even Obama's team had to finally look at reality and realize that the far left was insane and inserted in oil, coal and nuclear to all his green rhetoric, effectively creating a
"plan" that includes anything.
Second people are easily duped by not listening or reading clearly. What does limited mean? It could mean one new rig when we currently have over 4000 in US waters! Strict environmental oversight can mean anything. All current production must meet current environmental regulations.

Never mind Paris Hilton
August 6, 2008 - 08:09 ET by dscottNever mind Paris Hilton trying to rehabilitate her image as a blonde air head, it was obvious she was repeating lines from a teleprompter and finally got it down on the 20th or 30th take. And I certainly won't be entertaining advice from a coke head, no matter who she parrots.
I was looking at the time stamps on this thread. 22:54 is 10:54 p.m. EST or 7:54 p.m. left coast time. Do you people not go to bed? By the time this thread was posted I was sawing some serious zzzz's.
But now to my conspiracy theory of the week: Paris Hilton is a Hillary Clinton supporter. Now why do you suppose Paris, being a good little Dem, would diss the party's presumptive nominee???? This was in actuality a stealth campaign ad for Hillary Clinton. Yes folks, the August surprise is coming and the Obamanator is going to be in for a very rude surprise on the convention floor as the Dem superdels dump him for Hillary.

the cue cards/teleprompter
August 6, 2008 - 08:39 ET by G-MoneyOf course she was reading off cue cards, which makes this a little funnier, I think. When she "gets serious" and reads the energy plan, look away (if you can :)). She actually sounds fairly intelligent at that point in the video. When the teleprompter is taken away from Obama, he sounds like a dropout. The comparison is apt.

Not bad, Paris
August 6, 2008 - 10:47 ET by CobraManNot bad, Paris, not bad at all.
That was rather funny and, although nobody here mentioned the link, I thinks it's rather ironic that Paris mentioned the idea of combining Off-Shore Drilling AND Alternative Energy Sources (got to capitalize them as they are the Big Ideas of the candidates, right?) AFTER being described by just about everyone as one of "two blonde bimbo airheads with a combined I.Q. of a box of cereal." So much for being a “bimbo airhead,” as she seems to understand the solutions to our oil problems better than most, if not all, of the MSM airwave-heads combined. Isn't that right, Cafferty?
So, Paris, here's to your clever rebuttal and I hope to see you in Maui soon.

"I bet she has a tattoo inside her leg that says "Drill here, Drill now"
That type of statement just makes me wonder if you’re jealous of her good looks and success. It has nothing to do with this clip. It is insulting to the extreme and it is used simply to demean and disparage her without addressing the value of her "plan". That's what I would expect of someone who posts at the Democratic Underground or the Daily Kos.
"Who honestly looks to her for political advice?"
Since she advises a rather good energy plan, maybe we should start.
What on earth makes you
August 6, 2008 - 22:37 ET by RESTLESS 1What on earth makes you think it is her plan? It is obvious that this was scripted. I'll bet ten dollars that when she looks into the magazine, she is looking at crib notes. Just because it includes drilling (highly resrictive drilling), does not make it a good plan. Saying it is better than Pelosi et al's is not a ringing endorsement. It is obama's plan and it calls for subsidies. No sale. I don't like welfare for the citizenry or for corporations. When and if alternate energy becomes economically viable, no tax incentives, (damn I hate that term), will be needed to have them produced or consumed. WAKE UP!!!!! It is OUR MONEY!

Of course besides the other

Nuclear power in combination with fossil fuels (oil and natural gas) is the only viable energy plan for the US. Nuclear power is the only proven, large scale and viable (cost effective) alternative energy that exists, but none of the ecofanatics will accept it and by extension neither will the Dems, not now, not ever.

I agree
August 6, 2008 - 11:36 ET by CobraMan"Nuclear power in combination with fossil fuels (oil and natural gas) is the only viable energy plan for the US."
I agree to some extent, but I think that solar, wind, wave, and any other energy source should be used to supplement nuclear power and fossil fuels. The best energy plan allows for all sources to be used when and where they are best suited, and for new technology to continually increase efficiency and lower over-all costs of all technologies.
Not at 2 to 4 times the
August 6, 2008 - 13:14 ET by dscottNot at 2 to 4 times the cost, PC alternate energy can never be the answer, oil would have to get up well above $200/barrel. The best energy plan allows the market to decide, that means the government has to butt out, stop meddling and for the producers and consumers to make those decisions instead. We didn't have this problem 30 years ago, it started with idiot Carter and his Dem buddies banning oil and nuclear. We are where we are today because of government meddling in the economy. It was government solutions meddling with the energy business that got us in this mess and it has be government getting out of the energy business to resolve the issue. No more bad ideas from government, let the people decide, they are way smarter than any government idiots today like Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid or Obamanator.
Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, starving the poor one gallon of ethanol at a time. Fill your tank with E85 and cull a village.
I beleive you missed something
August 7, 2008 - 10:00 ET by CobraManI believe you missed something and that is the part where I said "when and where they are best suited." That means when and where it is best suited, not when and where it is government mandated. Like you said, let the market decide, but let it decide in a sensible manner. This mean that ALL available sources should be considered and used where appropriate.
There's nothing wrong with using other sources to supplement nuclear and fossil fuels. It makes good sense to diversify energy sources, just like it makes sense to diversify revenue sources. Why limit ourselves to just to or three available sources? That leaves us vulnerable to supply limitations and disruption via lack of available fuel. It’s not that easy to make nuclear fuel, you know. Nor is it easy to mine and process coal, or to extract and process natural gas. What happens if the coal miners, for example, decide to strike? That would severely limit a source of fuel and THAT will greatly increase costs, if only for the short term. A supplemental energy source would eliminate any possible cost increase due to a lack of coal fuel, would it not?

This is ridiculous....
August 6, 2008 - 20:49 ET by Timothy HI have been absent for a little while, due to personal reasons, and this is what I come back too? Noel is one of the most upstanding people I know of, why is he under attack over a simple (possibly off color, depending on your viewpoint) remark?
What has happened here?
Amber, I am sorry if you are offended. Some of the remarks here are definately over the line. But I don't follow your "he did it, so I can do it worse and it's justified" mentality. Of all the comments, your's have been consistantly the most offensive.
You somehow feel that disparaging a woman you have no knowledge of other than that which has been provided to you by the same media we all decry here, and in the most lude and vulgar way represented here, is less offensive, or less ignorant, than the posters here who were slyly (or not) commenting on their fantasies about a woman that, like it or not, is widely viewed as beautiful, regardless of her "skankyness"? You should be ashamed of yourself.
And how exactly can you blame Noel for others thoughts and comments? That is not only silly, but unfair.
I do understand your offense to some of the postings, and I would not, myself, have typed those things. But I also would not have typed the things you responded with, and as far as I am concerned, you have displayed even less class than those you had wished to admonish.
I hope in the future you can control yourself, as, from what I have read, you seem like a very nice person when not up in arms. It really seems odd that you attacked the moral stadings of sitemembers by sinking your morals lower than what you perceived theirs to be.
And hello to TM, BT, and the rest of the gang. It has certainly been a while.

Hi Tim, this is really to Amber
August 6, 2008 - 21:16 ET by RukusHello Tim, I'm a newbie here and I agree with. I have total respect for Noel and the NB team and the bloggers here. Amber, I am sorry you were offended by some remarks on this blog about Paris. What I read was really just humorous remarks and weren't meant seriously! Please don't paint all us guys with the same brush. I am married and love my wife with all my heart, but, I have made humorous comments about other women and my wife gets it, I'm just being funny, no offense to her, she does the same (Brad Pitt comes to mind) LOL! We're just being guys and joking around, most of us don't really mean it and are just making fun of the likes of Paris, etc. It was just fun banter, that's all. I, like probably most of the male posters here respect the women in their lives. Humor is humor and not to be taken seriously. I understand you were offended but that was not the intent of the comments. I, as most, are very respectfull of women, ya'll are smarter after all, I admit that. Hey, guys goof off and make jokes, no big deal, you know this. Noel is a good guy and I don't think, after being here for a few weeks, would make disparging (sp?) remarks about women. Most of us guys on NB would defend women come hell or high water! Hey, we love ya'll!! Just my two cents. If I over spoke anyone feel free to tar and feather me!

Good Lord People...
August 6, 2008 - 21:27 ET by Clear thinkerThis reminds me of some talk show my wife was watching years ago, and I made the mistake of walking in the room as it was starting. My wife thought it would be good for me to listen to this expert on relationships between men and women. After the obligatory eye rolls, I sat down like a good husband and watched about ten minutes with my wife. After a huge build-up by the host of the show about the experts credentials, she came on and immediately got down to business. She was asked one question by the host and proceeded to talk for 4-5 minutes straight without coming up for air. The last part of which she announced her earth shattering discovery and said... "Men and Women are different". Afater this "DUH" moment I told the wife I had had enough and left the room. I did not need this Ivy League School graduate to tell me that I am different than my wife, I kinda knew that even before we got married.
Men and women do see things differently, and there's nothing wrong with that. In fact, I like it that way. My post above stating that I wished my wife looked like Paris was a joke. I love my wife more and more with each passing year and I would NEVER consider sleeping with Paris over my wife. It was just a man joke. Not meant to hurt anyone and not meant to insult anyone. I even told my wife what I said and how this thread has turned out. Her only reaction was to slap me in the back of the head and say "MEN!" very emphatically. She then kissed me and said to have fun on NB (She knows I enjoy posting here).
Ladies, I meant no disrespect, it was simply a guy joke thing. Something guys do all the time. We can joke like this and still love our wives and not cheat on them. It's a joke!
