What do people on the ultra-left hate more: George W. Bush or Fox News?
The question stems from an incident Friday at the Netroots Nation conference in Austin, Texas, when former Democrat Congressman Harold Ford Jr. was booed for saying that he has great respect for his former colleagues at Fox News.
This was so newsworthy that the Huffington Post's Sam Stein actually wrote about it (emphasis added, video of Ford's comments embedded right):
"I used to work for Fox News. I no longer am there," he said after an audience member, during the Q&A session, accused him of smearing Democrats and echoing right-wing talking points. "I have great, great respect and admiration for my former colleagues there..."
Some in the crowd were incredulous, hissing Ford, asking (err... screaming) "why and who," and offering a scattering of boos.
Ah the tolerant left.

It's called fear..
July 19, 2008 - 15:52 ET by JTPThey FEAR FNC... Such open minds that they have. It astounds me the lack of thought and consideration these people have to any "thinking" other than their own. Do they even have a curiosity of the other people in their world? Will they not take the time to see all sides of an argument or discussion before vomiting their rhetoric? How does someone get like that? Really, what in their life got them to be such unthinking and uncaring persons? How miserable they must be every morning when they wake to have to face a day in that kind of life.
I can not imagine being anything like that. True, I dislike MSNBC and others like them but I force myself to watch and try to figure out what drives them and what their goals are but I don't HATE them.
It is truly amazing...

A History lesson -- lest we forget
July 19, 2008 - 17:33 ET by ThisnThatAs part of his NAZI party duties, Hitler also was asked to spy on certain local political groups, and during a meeting of the German Workers' Party, became so incensed by one of the speeches that he uncorked a fierce harangue at the speaker.
Hitler was discharged from the German army in February 1920. He continued to expand his influence in the party, and formed a private group of thugs that he used to quash disorder at party meetings, and later to break up rival parties' meetings. That group subsequently became the Sturmabteilung (SA) - Hitler's brown-shirted storm troopers.
Do you see any parallels as to what's possible in any country, at any time? The nutroots currently ban any dissent on their web sites -- and they are very active at disrupting anybody that might be a counterpoint to them. Brought to you by George Soros.

July 19, 2008 - 18:14 ET by ThisnThatSoros doesn't talk to the minions. His influence is financial, to a few, select individuals -- who then set up the conditions for the minions to act.
Soros is also a communist/socialist of the worst kind. He and his type have been infiltrating our schools and social institutions for decades, slowly tearing down the fabic of our culture and civilization -- thereby making it much, much easier for people to buy into the "anything goes" type of mob behavior we are witnessing these days.
For example, we seem to be shocked at Hamas' TV programs showing militant children and cartoon characters. But, we seem to be imune from the sex, language, and disrespect/degradation shown on TV, radio, and movies in this country. Both have an effect, and a purpose, and can be used by people in power. The fact that MoveOn, DU, and other nutroots websites allow and promote abusive language and hate attacks, for example, make it a lot easier to channel this emotion into direct attacks on targets chosen by Soros and his luetenants..

July 19, 2008 - 18:28 ET by celatorI always like to add that Soros is a convicted felon in France. He was convicted for insider bank trading, a conviction which was upheld by France's highest court in 2006.
The major media report only half the news. Why are they surprised they have only half the potential audience?
Why not hand them out at the door?
July 20, 2008 - 15:46 ET by Redrowan2000I mean the brown shirts of course. 1st thing I thought of when I saw this. Huffington, Daily Kos. Hate filled, mean-spirited and oblivious only to their interpretation of the 1st amendment. Foreign influence from the likes of Soros and others like Arianna. The 2 of them make me cringe like the bad guys in a pre world war II movie or perhaps a cold war scenario.

July 19, 2008 - 16:05 ET by SMGalbraithIf Harold Ford or another Democrat appeared on Iranian-state run TV and denounced America and the Administration, many (most?) on the Left would be less angry than if they appeared on Fox.

Harold Ford is at least as conservative as John McCain
July 19, 2008 - 16:22 ET by timotheMaybe more so.
I'm sorry but...I don't identify my politics with a party. I identify my politics with an ideologically that is 85% conservative or greater.
There was another story about Ford where the posters attacked him for being liberal. He is not.
War going on inside the Democrat Party
July 19, 2008 - 17:14 ET by lareeThis is along the same lines these folks align themselves with Barack Obama who said, Imus had to be fired for Satire, which turns out is protected Speech you know for NHH because he had young daughters and it was violent language but Obama takes his daughter to a Church where they can hear all kinds of stuff, some much more violent.

Harold Ford Jr., wanted the minority leadership in the House but they told him he was young and ambitious and he would have his turn. There is racism inside the Democrat Party coming from the "Progressives" they are condescending. Why won't people wake up...Manipulation of minorities going on all the time. Progressives Pelosi, Reid and Howard Dean the Leadership of the DNC have a current 9% approval rating. I think they should have given the Moderate Young Man of Color the leadership position in the House. We probably wouldn't be in the shape we are today if they had.
I may not agree with Harold
July 19, 2008 - 18:24 ET by fitzfongI may not agree with Harold Ford much, but I really do like him. He is a smart, articulate man who advocates his party's policies with a healthy dose of class. I really feared that the Pantsuit was going to get the nomination and pick him as her running mate. Given the current state of affairs, that may be a preferable scenario.

July 19, 2008 - 23:28 ET by Cureboy675Boy. You are on to us now. If it has been a white man up there extolling the virtues of Fox News, we would have been standing and applauding, most likely with tears of admiration spilling down our cheeks.
CB, the dems have replaced the plantation owners...
July 19, 2008 - 23:47 ET by R D Helm...as the true slave owners.
Somehow, the Democrat Party has managed to garner the political support of an overwhelming majority of black Americans.
I must admit that I find this rather curious, as all the dems have really accomplished with their policies of the last 40-plus years is to destroy the black American family and exterminate many of their children.
No matter, as at some point, most black Americans are going to finally realize what the white liberal establishment has really done to them.
When this finally happens, being a lilly-white dim-lib is going to really suck.
-Unless, of course, the dems actually manage to rig it so that illegals can vote in national elections. Once they have managed to accomplish that, they will throw black America under the proverbial bus like they were last week's garbage.

RD Helm. You have
July 20, 2008 - 00:03 ET by Cureboy675RD Helm. You have uncovered our diabolical plans and you must be eliminated. Only a few days ago, I was at the store and I saw a single black mother using food stamps to feed her children, I pulled out my cell phone and called Nancy Pelosi directly.
My voice boomed, "Excellent work my dear. They suspect nothing. Of course, we all know the best thing would be to let these children starve. But this is a far far more twisted plan. Did you manage to alter the unemployment rate to make it look like there were no jobs available? Good. Very good. Now, my dear, we must move to the next phase of our plan. Letting the illegals vote. How is that coming? What? You would be wise to make better progress. The power I have given you can just as easily be taken away"
Then I ended the cell phone call and proceeded to purchase my Hamburger Helper Cheeseburger Macaroni.
Cureboy, it was you lefties who came up with the idea that...
July 20, 2008 - 00:21 ET by R D Helm...single black females who became pregnant should be given an apartment and a regular income (both paid for by us hapless taxpayers, of course) so long as the FATHER OF THE CHILD WAS ABSENT!
How profoundly stupid was that?
-And when you weren't pushing that idiotic idea, you were encouraging other pregnant black women to have abortions in droves. Funny, as you lefties are so quick to accuse others of "genocide" when you are up to your eyeballs in it yourselves.
