Greta Van Susteren is quickly becoming one of Fox News's most ardent defenders against attacks from the ultra-left.
Writing about Netroots Nation -- the gathering in Austin, Texas, of the most liberal people in America -- Greta bashed her former network CNN as well as MSNBC, Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, and all those in attendance.
Fasten those seatbelts tightly, for Greta, in a blog posting Friday morning, wasn't taking prisoners (emphasis added, h/t TVNewser, photo courtesy FNC):
The organizers of Netroots Nation - a gathering of liberal bloggers - say that Fox reporters can’t go and cover their convention unless the reporters identify themselves as “opinon media.” MS/NBC and CNN do not have to do this at this liberal bloggers convention. [...]
I know someone at CNN - and to protect that person’s job won’t identify - who said that when he/she files a story with an editor that has criticism of Senator Obama which he/she believes is factual and fair, the story criticism comes back watered down…this does not happen to the person’s filed story when the criticism is of Senator Clinton or Senator McCain. [...]
….and while I am on the subject, Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann? Netroot Nations think they have not marketed their opinions? they are not “opinion media?” Give me a break!
You gotta love her!

July 18, 2008 - 21:18 ET by Chris NormanI think the outrageously biased behavior of the mainstream media this election season (it's so long, can it be called a "season" any longer?) is beginning to irk some of the more fair-minded liberals in the media. Plus, the way the liberals and the MSM attack Fox News has ticked off some of Fox's resident liberals.
Of course, the nut roots will dismiss Greta's criticisms as coming from someone who has been brainwashed by Fox News. Once someone leaves the liberal media cult, the remaining cult members turn on them with the ferocity only true believers can muster.

July 18, 2008 - 21:16 ET by Caringwhiteguy. . . Greta had been that tough with and demanding of Brett Favre, America's biggest 3-year-old.

July 18, 2008 - 21:22 ET by bigtimerI heard Greta slam CNN not long ago, then msnbc...then both...I watch her show here and there depending who in the house has the clicker at the time...
I remember when she was coming to Fox how disappointed I was, I watched her half hour show on CNN and expected the same (she also explained has time went on that she was not happy on CNN being told how and what to say)...I remember her first show on Fox I think it was where her and Morris got into it...
I have always found her shows fair and balanced, no matter the topic...
Good for her...she has had her fill with the outright bias and hypocrisy...more like her need to speak out!

Greta, all I can say
July 18, 2008 - 22:12 ET by motherbeltGreta, all I can say is....
You go, girl!
It's just jaw-dropping that these folks see Fox as opinionated, but not CNN or MSNBC.
They actually think that their way of seeing things is the default!
I didn't think it was physically possible, but this both sucks and blows. -Bart Simpson
I agree, you go Greta.
July 19, 2008 - 11:06 ET by mjgI agree, you go Greta.
Greta's okay....
July 18, 2008 - 22:21 ET by BlondeWhen she's not doing dead girl stuff...Greta is a great interviewer. Did anyone see her do the interviews from Knob Noster, MO....home of the B2 Bomber?
She is a really excellent interviewer, when she's not on the crime scene.
And...apparently....she's decided to branch out and venture into politcal commentary.
I know many here will denigrate her for her looks, but Greta is LONG on brains...so if she branches out into political commentary, I'll listen, until she tanks for Obama.

Blonde, I can actually stand
July 18, 2008 - 22:40 ET by Chris NormanBlonde, I can actually stand her political segments better than the ravings of O'Reilly and the demolition derbies on H&C. You're right, I can do without her Natalee Holloway fixation and the Brady Bunch grid of attornies arguing over who is the smartest.

July 18, 2008 - 22:53 ET by BlondeI'm thinking we just ought to clear the decks of all of the "political commentators"....
And get some new folks to do the analysis....are you photogenic?
We could have "Morning, Chris".
Like that.

July 18, 2008 - 23:41 ET by CaringwhiteguyIs Andrea Mitchell photogenic? Is Keith O photogenic? Is Alan Colmes photogenic? I'll take Norman sight unseen!

July 18, 2008 - 23:45 ET by BlondeThe point was....I'd take any of my fellow NB's "sight unseen" as political commentators.
Serially....Mika, Chrissy, et al are just TOOOOOO gross for words.
Like that.
We'd (each and every one of us) would do far, far better, on the morning shows, than any of the liberal twits who are regularly served up.
I'm just sayin!

July 18, 2008 - 23:48 ET by wdhorningSo mamy liberal "news" orgs are so opinionated that they are blinded and cannot tell raw, fair and balanced news from dog shit and so they step in it.
I once had a discussion with a liberal who said that liberal news was "main stream". See what I mean?
Liberals are so far from conservative that stepping on the backs of soldiers who bled and died to give them the right to print the truth is something they are totally oblivious to. But then, what liberal cares for the military? I mean liberals hate the military so much they would ratther be slaves of tyranny than have the military protect them from tyrants (and terrorists, and dicators, and communists, etc) and, get this, they even hate the military so much they do not care that the military gives them a free press, and would give up a free press if the military could just "go away." Now if that is not proof that they are the dumbest morons on the Earth, I will piss in my pants.
