Is a second phase of Rush Limbaugh's highly-successful "Operation Chaos" in the works?
According to the conservative talk show host, such is possible, and if it ends up coming to pass, will have deliciously been set in motion as a result of a conspiracy theory espoused Monday by the Obama-loving actor Donald Sutherland.
For those that missed it, Kiefer's dad published a blog at the Huffington Post yesterday suggesting there's a Clinton cabal to "demoralize" presumptive Democrat presidential nominee Barack Obama's base in order to "persuade disenchanted delegates on the floor of the [Democrat National] convention to make a resurgent Hillary Clinton the Party's nominee."
Limbaugh saw this, and wrote me this morning:
It is a goldmine, offers chance for Phase 2 of Operation Chaos.
Rush then informed me he hasn't "finalized the operational plans" for Phase 2 yet; it is still in an exploratory mode, but will be discussed on air today.
For those that either missed it or have forgotten, Operation Chaos was a strategy Limbaugh devised during the primaries to keep Hillary in the race as long as possible so that the two candidates would bash either well into the spring and summer.
As Rush told listeners on May 5 (membership required):
The purpose of Operation Chaos was to politically bloody up Barack Obama when we started this. We started this right before the Texas and Ohio primaries and cauci. The Republican Party and Senator McCain had made it clear, had made it plain they were not going to be critical of Barack Obama. At the time Obama was sailing to what appeared to be a surefire victory. Operation Chaos was formed for the express purpose of keeping the Democrat primary system alive as long as possible, and who better to bloody up Obama politically than the Clintons? He has to be bloodied up; he has to be taken off that game of messiah that he was on. This has worked.
With Clinton's highly publicized concession speech on June 7, Operation Chaos appeared complete. However, this conspiracy theory by Sutherland might just set off a new mission designed to create chaos within the Democrat Party between now and the convention.
With this in mind, field operatives should be listening to Limbaugh in the coming days for further instructions.
Stay tuned.
*****Update: Here's what Rush said today about this subject (membership required):
Have you heard about this? Folks, I'm thinking, and I haven't finalized details. We've been working on the operational plans all morning here at the EIB Network. But it may be time to implement a Phase II of Operation Chaos. Donald Sutherland, who is the father, as you know, of Kiefer Sutherland, who stars in "24," posted something on the Huffington Post, and this is what he wrote. [...]
Sutherland believes that somebody's infiltrated the Obama campaign and has suggested he make these policy changes, and they are dooming him, and this conspiracy theory is that Mrs. Clinton, through Mr. McAuliffe, is going to massage things out in Denver so that he doesn't get the nomination. You couple this with Obama's plane, Fort Marcy Airlines having to take a detour to St. Louis for a mechanical problem, you get the left-wing kooks out there who are just convinced as they can be that the Clintons are not out of the picture, that they're still mobilizing behind the scenes to take down Obama, and believe me, they do believe this. So a ripe opportunity here for Operation Chaos, ladies and gentlemen. It's Phase II, still pondering how to milk this. I think one of the ways we do it is encourage the Donald Sutherlands of the world that they finally have learned the truth that we have always known about the Clintons, and we welcome them to this realization, we praise them for understanding exactly who they're dealing with.
We forget and ignore how they were duped and looked the other way when the Clintons behaved just this way when they were in power in the nineties. We welcome them to the fold. We suggest to them that they continue this investigation, because they are right, because something smells rotten here in Messiahville. The Messiah changing all these positions, angering the very people who gave him the nomination, and Terry McAuliffe said to be behind all of this. Then, to add to the conspiracy, guess who the Fox News Channel just hired as a contributor? Howard Wolfson. Who is Howard Wolfson? Howard Wolfson was Hillary's spokesman during the campaign. Howard Wolfson now at the dreaded Fox News, and what he's saying about Fox is, they're the fairest, they're the balanced, most balanced, and they are the best. So the Clintons infiltrating Fox, infiltrating the Obama campaign. Operation Chaos lives on.
Hehehehehe.

Hillary in '12
July 8, 2008 - 11:27 ET by Dr_LibertyI think a Hillary resurgence at the Dem convention is highly unlikely, so that portion of Sutherland's conspiracy theory is tenuous at best.
However, I can imagine that Hillary thinks a run in '12 is within the realm of possibility. McCain will be really, really old then and it is rare for a party to hold on to the White House for 16 years. As such, Clinton Inc. may "support" Obama this year in a "foot dragging" kind of way.
And for the record, I'm not Donald Sutherland's wife.

July 8, 2008 - 11:27 ET by sarcasmoBut IMO the smartest thing Rush could do if he wants to help McCain is to get some $$$ behind Nader's anemic effort NOW, so there's a lefty-choice for balancing the Barr/Baldwin disaffected vote from the right. Right now, Obama's talking about competing in GOP stronghold states like Alaska.

I find it hysterical...
After what the dems did to Fox regarding the debates, when the stations like msnbc and/CNN to an extent went against here...she slowly but surely started going towards Fox...(I know about the Rupert get together and all previously) for me for now, all of this is just too much fun before the convention.
Like they say politics is a blood sport...and Hillary hasn't gotten out her long knives quite yet...JMO....of course this is all planned for a reason...and it ain't for the goodness towards the Obamamessiah.

Now for my conspiracy
July 9, 2008 - 08:37 ET by dscottNow for my conspiracy theory of the week:
The fact that Wolfson and others are joining up with Fox News should be very troubling to all. Libs always seek to inflitrate any organization they feel will advance their agenda. After all, the universities, legal system, psychology and MSM were taken over by the libs after a steady migration until the deck was stacked so heavily in their favor, the institutions became theirs for the using.
The fact that both Hillary, Wolfson and others have openly declared FNC to be fair and balanced means it has been targeted for take over. I predict within two years that FNC will be as biased as the rest of the MSM. The only thing not liberal by the time they are finished inflitrating will be the slogan hanging over the door.

July 8, 2008 - 23:29 ET by Cureboy675I'm sure when folks like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson hear about this "Operation Chaos" business, they just beam with pride.
"Let's see if I've got this straight. We fight to have a representative democracy where people choose their leaders. And we end up with people using their vote in a juvenile game to cause monkey business for the opposing party"
And before anybody tries to say this is something more than a juvenile game, I'll have to direct you to the "hehehehehe" statement made at the conclusion of this particular article.
But really, it was all moot anyway. Every state mattered for the Democrats this primary season, causing higher registration, voter interest and visibility. No Republican has yet bothered to step foot in my state while both Clinton and Obama did. And here we are, only about a month after the last primary, and you don't hear much about how fractured or crippled or torn apart beyond repair the Democratic Party is. And, actually, if it wasn't for Mr Sutherland's rantings, nobody would have even thought to remember what Operation Chaos was. So I just have to say: Carry on.
Additionally, it did provide some Republicans with some busy work, so I thank Mr. Limbaugh for that.

Hence McCain...let alone other factors...but the leftists in the msm were the enemy as far as I am concerned leading the way, and McCain knew it well, along with Huckster.
Just my two cents for now...

July 8, 2008 - 23:44 ET by Cureboy675LOL. You have finally figured me out, eh? I'm still not sure what that means. I'm actually rather transparent.
Yeah, people have been playing games for years. Nixon probably should have beat Kennedy is a prime example. However, I do not bring myself to glee when realizing Kennedy pulled a fast one.
But is it time better spent encouraging millions more to play these games or expose these games to the light of day and prevent them from having a negative impact on the democratic process?
