An extraordinary thing happened on Friday's "Countdown": host Keith Olbermann actually included a Democrat Congressman in his "Worst Person in the World" segment.
Of course, it would have been even more extraordinary if the MSNBC host had informed his viewers that the Congressman in question was indeed a Democrat.
Sadly, that didn't happen, and instead the million foolish people that actually watch this tripe were left in the dark concerning Bill Delahunt's (D-Mass.) party affiliation (video embedded right):
The bronze, shared by Congressman Bill Delahunt of Massachusetts, Vice President Cheney's chief of staff David Addingtion who made each other look stupid at a hearing. First Addington said he could not talk about torture techniques because quote, "Al Qaeda may watch C-SPAN." Then Delahunt said quote, "Right, well I'm sure they are watching, and I'm glad they finally have a chance to see you, Mr. Addington." Well one of the loonier of the Conservatives in Congress, Steve King, then got even dumber when he said, "Delahunt was inciting al Qaeda to violence against Addington." It was a damn fool thing of Delahunt to say, and not that bright from Addington either.
Quite right, Keith. But why is it you accurately identified Addington as working for Vice President Cheney, and Rep. King (R-NY) as a conservative, but chose to not tell your viewers that the person saying the "damn fool thing" was a Democrat? Is that verboten on your show, Keith, or just a convenient oversight?
Regardless, here's the exchange between Addington and Delahunt:
ADDINGTON: I can't talk to you. Al-Qaeda may watch C-SPAN.
DELAHUNT: Right. Well, I'm sure they are watching and I'm glad they finally have a chance to see you, Mr. Addington.
ADDINGTON: I'm sure you're pleased.
DELAHUNT: Given your pension for being unobtrusive.
For the record, Delahunt was on Mark Levin's radio program Friday, and apologized for his remark (audio here).
Finally, readers are advised to get Ed Morrissey's take on this, as well as Power Line's and Redstate's.

I can just see the KOS kiddies giggling at his stupid voices and their mom yelling through the cellar door, "Keep it quiet down there!"
"Mom, I'm 35, I can do what I want!"
How do you know these things?

Keef, if you're calling Delahunt out on his "damn fool" comment, why are you deriding King for saying more or less the same thing? It was a gratuitous shot at Congressman King. He deserves an apology, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

June 28, 2008 - 15:11 ET by heartlanderPerhaps Mr. Overbite was trying to avoid being redundant, i.e. a Democrat Congressman from Massachusetts. What other kind is there?
I think, though, Mr. Delahunt was (sarcastically) accusing Mr. Addington of having a penchant for being unobtrusive, not a pension.
I heard Delahunt's apology on Levin's show. He still tried to weasel out of it by trying to claim he said that "he" was glad to see him finally.
What a moron
June 28, 2008 - 15:38 ET by GregEWhat a moron, I'm sure even this pained him to have to do. Let's break this down point by point, some of which you mention in your post....(if anyone sees more, please add to the list)
1) Yes, he put a Democrat as one of the "worse," but only as a "co-worse," with a Republican staffer Addington being there too, with Addington's bit having really nothing of significance to do with the slot on the already insignificant Worst Person list.
2) Notice how quickly he mentioned what Delahunt said, while encapsulating it within things said by Addington and Congressman Steven King.
3) Notice when he mentioned what was said by Addington, he used the stupid Olberdork mocking voice he normally does when quoting things like this, but when he quoted Delahunt, he simply said it, no mockery involved. So it's apparent which person he felt was the true "worse" of the two.
3) As you said, doesn't mention Delahunt's position or party, yet mentions Addington is VP Cheney's Chief of Staff, and then mentions one of the more looney "conservatives" [i.e. Republican] Congressman Steve King
4) Puts Addington's picture and Delahunt's together, so whoever the "Worse" is, we don't know if we don't know the faces.
5) Puts "Al Qaeda may watch C-Span" in the same category as a Congressman telling a VP Chief of Staff (who is also an American, same as Delahunt is) "I'm glad al Qaeda [staunch homocidal maniacs bent on the destruction of western civilization at any cost] finally has a chance to see you, Mr. Addington," as if those two statements are on the same level.

June 28, 2008 - 16:07 ET by BlazerKeith played this one safe as I see it, I mean cant' have the Kos kiddies see him getting too tough on a fellow lib. Plus I'm pretty sure Keith believes the only stupid thing Delahunt did was say what he said on camera, documented proof that the left is in the tank for our enemies.
I always find it funny that the left suffers from Fox derangement syndrome being Keith regularly prostitutes himself over at Kos for ratings, the irony I'm sure is lost on them.
Someone should send Keith a tiara and tell him to wear it on his show, like the true male diva he is.

Out of all of this...The North Korea deal was brought about by the way of diplomacy instead of using the military. Should we now call Dubya our Appeaser in Chief? Now that North Korea is no longer part of the Axis of EVIL, what country should we start negotiating with diplomatically since it seems diplomacy works? Syrius, the difference
June 28, 2008 - 16:44 ET by BlazerSyrius, the difference is, Hannity doesn't pretend to be impartial, he does conservative commentary and opinion. Keith wants everyone to believe he has journalistic integrity, is unbiased, all the while posting over at DKOS and being a partisan hack. Hannity admits with pride he's a conservative, Keith would never admit in a million years he's a far-leftist liberal,............of course theres no pride in that anyway.

June 28, 2008 - 17:04 ET by acumen"Should we now call Dubya our Appeaser in Chief?"
Are you insinuating that getting a dangerous dictatorship to dismantle their nuclear ambitions is how you define appeasement? If not, who exactly are you assuming Dubya has appeased (other than tax and spend politicians in Washington)? Or is that just the BDS talking?
By all appearances it should be obvious to any thinking person that Dubya not caving on his position of six-way-talks with N Korea (much to the chagrin of dems in Congress and their demedia allies pushing for strictly bi-lateral talks) resulted in this positive outcome. So is Dubya still to be considered an isolationist (remember newsweek's Bush in the Bubble story?) or should Dubya be applauded for facillitating the coming together of six nations to resolve a very dangerous situation in the world?

The Democrats appear to be in full bloom lately.
June 28, 2008 - 16:58 ET by pbthinkerThe Democrats have always been a little on the crazy side but, lately it seems, they've become just a little loonier. I wish that someone, anyone for that matter, would call them aside and explain why you don't tell the enemy your interrogation techniques. These morons think we're dealing with respectable people that have signed the Geneva Conventions are war and are willing to abide by them. We know what they do, they torture, get their information, then behead you, just like that. They don't have to have a rational reason to do anything and will do the same things whether we waterboard or treat prisoners like kings and queens.
The Democrats should know these people since they are just as hateful as they are. If you watch the way this Delahunt interrogation went, you can just tell that he hates this man who, in the long run, is just trying to do what's best for the country.

What angers me more (I've come to expect this pathetic behavior from liberals) is that NOT ONE Republican said a word to castigate the disgraceful Delahunt and defend Addington. NOT ONE!
I wrote how incensed I am on my blog today.
