May 7, 2008 - 21:28 ET by FastEdwhile doing my customer service at the Big Orange Box, I was fortunate to help a BDU wearing Eagles (colonel), he also had a CIB, which he remarked, was easier to get then the product we were looking for - for the CIB, all he had to do was duck! -

God bless our troops
May 7, 2008 - 21:19 ET by Cape Conservativeand to think they are risking their lives to protect the right for Stephen King to utter such nonsense makes them GIANTS in my eyes! We should hold a Stephen King book-burning bonfire in every state in the country!!! Just one more example of liberalism gone wild. Shame on you, Mr. K!

May 7, 2008 - 21:22 ET by FastEdadd me to everyone else here, that this made my day, the laugh was needed. Good to know too, that the troops have a better sense of humor, then steven pawn has a sense of honor or respect.

May 7, 2008 - 21:30 ET by R D HelmAnybody want to start a pool as to when Stephen King issues a public apology for his neurological misfire?
-Bet it happens before the weekend.

He will never apologize
May 7, 2008 - 21:57 ET by celatorStephen King will never apologize for his dumb statement. He is simply not capable of apology. He has been a left wing radical since his student days at the University of Maine at Orono. He used to write for the student paper then, and has not changed his political views one iota. He is yet another '60's radical who never grew up, politically.
In his book "On Writing" (a pretty good read actually) he admits to heavy drinking and use of, shall we say, mind enhancing drugs for much of his life, though he seems to be clean these days. He wrote in that book that he was so high most of the time when he was writing "Cujo", that he actually does not remember writing that book, in the sense of how he developed the plotline and characters.
I do feel some sympathy for him as a person because he truly had a very tough growing up period, working at all sorts of menial jobs to help support his mom and himself. He was dirt poor as a kid, and through sheer determination to "make it", he became extremely well known and wealthy. And he is very generous with his money, giving lots of it away to good causes in Maine (library donations etc. So I give him that.

May 7, 2008 - 22:17 ET by MightyMouth"...he became extremely well known and wealthy. And he is very generous with his money"
All you said is probably true. But he can't seem to understand that he couldn't have had any of his success without the Soldier's who died giving him the freedom to advance in a free society. Sorry, I can't forgive him for such a slight so easily.

I agree
May 7, 2008 - 23:15 ET by celatorI agree completely. And I don't give him any slack whatsoever for his insulting comments.

May 7, 2008 - 22:13 ET by BarkerStephen King has got to be living a nightmare right now.;) An apology will surely help, but it would probably be too little, too late. It's looks like he's dug in on this one.
But, maybe King will say it was all just a joke....you know, "ha ha".
That's a "botched joke."
May 7, 2008 - 22:20 ET by motherbeltThat's a "botched joke." LOL
I don't think he will apologize. His ego is invested in it now.
And IF he does, he won't say "I insulted our soldiers and I'm sorry"....he'll "regret [his] poor choice of words" or somesuch nonsense.
I honestly don't think he cares.
That's what he's doing
May 7, 2008 - 23:24 ET by celatorThat's pretty much what we are reading up here. He's in high dungeon for our "misunderstanding" what he meant, how dare we question his patriotism, yadda yadda yadda. Not even close to an apology. You're right, his ego is heavily invested in this, and he won't back down.

If anything
May 7, 2008 - 22:22 ET by FastEdI think he'll issue a non-apology apology. Sorta - I was misunderstood, and I can put on paper what I mean better then I speak. (and it was Bush's fault!)

Fast, I agree. But he eventually is going to say something.

Egoistical king
May 8, 2008 - 07:14 ET by chiefdaveI would love to see the Portland Press Herald (Maine) print that picture, but that would never happen!!!! The local radio/Tv station on Fox has really been after king, With out them and Newsbusters we would never know about that jerk. Some of the blogs on the above local paper show how some view the miltary as their heads are stuck in the sand. If the high school grads are so dumb how did they get out of high school??? Being a grad from these schools I went on to receive a B.S. while serving for 26 great years in the Army. Where I worked with some of the best America has to offer!! So I get a little upset when some jerk criticizes our men and women that serve . A old W-4
Listening to them also
May 8, 2008 - 07:50 ET by celatorI've been listening to Ray and Ted on WLOB, also. As you say, they're raking King over the coals as are the callers. Except for Portland (ugh!) and the Lewiston, Augusta, Waterville corridor, most of Maine is pretty conservative. Including Bangor! You'd think that "celebrities" like King would have figured out by now that, thanks to blogs and sites like NB, the days when they can make stupid comments without being almost immediately exposed are over.
Bill O'Reilly is an idiot!
May 8, 2008 - 23:56 ET by Free StinkerIt's official.
Bill O'Reilly is an idiot!
Says he doesn't believe Stephen King intended to insult the troops.
Pledge to not support RINOs ever again!
But the reason he said
May 9, 2008 - 00:03 ET by general companyBut the reason he said that was because he though SK is a "pinhead"
Meaning he was not responsible for what he said,,,,,,,on second thought your right BO is an idiot
