Last February, NewsBusters reported the resignation of retired Col. Ken Allard from NBC News as a result of the military analyst's view the network was undergoing a "precipitous retreat from journalistic and ethical standards."
On Sunday, Allard was more specific, claiming, "I thought they really had moved very slowly to the left, and I also thought that when they had the chance to clarify to the fact that they were not moving to the left, they didn't do so."
CNN's Howard Kurtz set this up on "Reliable Sources":
HOWARD KURTZ, HOST: Last year, you quit NBC and MSNBC...
COL. KEN ALLARD: That's correct.
KURTZ: ...after a ten-year relationship. You indicated you thought they were moving to the left.
ALLARD: I thought they really had moved very slowly to the left, and I also thought that when they had the chance to clarify to the fact that they were not moving to the left, they didn't do so.
KURTZ: How did that effect your other goals as an analyst?
ALLARD: Well, number one, I was not getting on. And, again, that had been a long-standing trend. And, I simply saw the handwriting on the wall and said, "You know what? They're going one way, I'm going the other. Guys, thank you very much. God bless you. I wish you well."

No kidding?

NBC and MSNBC are the networks with the lowest-hanging fruits, the extreme left of the extreme left with ex-sportscaster Keith G.E. Olbermann as their supreme leader. Good Night and Good Luck.
Not Surprised...
April 27, 2008 - 12:46 ET by unkeeafSomeone from the Right showing integrity. The socialist networks NBC/MSNBC actually refuse to admit the obvious. More proof that they are simply PR shills for the DNC.

I watched Allard on there for years, he disappointed me many times, I also knew he was pandering to msnbc slowly but surely, then I noticed a change in him, saying what he really thought more and more, it surprised me, now I understand what was going on behind the scenes with him and the leftists on msnbc...no wonder he wasn't geting on any more, they didn't want to hear from him, he may, oh my goodness, speak the truth...and we all know the leftists can't handle that.
Good for him for quitting....I don't know how he lasted that long...your own personal integrity is what counts in the end in my view.

BT, you're right, Allard
April 27, 2008 - 19:21 ET by terrigBT, you're right, Allard was a disappointment for years but guess he figured he wasn't going to get to go to the prom even though he tried hard to be with the "in" crowd over there. I also say good for him for quitting, wonder if there is anyone else left over there with sense?
IMHO just half-wits left
April 27, 2008 - 19:32 ET by bigtimerIMHO just half-wits left there terri....
Btw...it got to the point when I would see Allard come on...I would turn it...I didn't feel like yelling at him again...there was another guy too, I would do the same, he was another retired military officer...can't remember his name...oh well.

April 27, 2008 - 19:28 ET by okiehawk44How come most of us recognized NBC's strong leftist leanings many, many years ago but a former Colonel in the Army (our Army) didn't notice it until a few months (?) or a couple of years (?) ago?
Either Allard is a dullard or he is a suckup -- which one are you Allard?
He said he noticed them
April 27, 2008 - 20:07 ET by The PresbyterHe said he noticed them moving toward the left. Besides, he was in a different position than the rest of us. This was his job. You try to make the best you can out of the situtation for as long as you can. Once he couldn't do that anymore, he quit.
Wow, MSNBC and NBC moving to
April 28, 2008 - 08:56 ET by mjgWow, MSNBC and NBC moving to the left isn't shocking. I thought they have been there for a long time. Too bad it took Allard a while to figure it out.

April 28, 2008 - 10:17 ET by marpelCol Allard lives in my hometown of San Antonio Tx. He recently suffered a stroke. I think he started to take stock after that stroke...he's been seen on Fox quite a bit.
Good for you, Col. Better late than never.
