Jesse Jackson Refuses to Answer Fox News's Questions Concerning Wright

Since the Rev. Jeremiah Wright revelations first shook the Obama campaign, one of America's so-called foremost civil rights leaders has been conspicuously silent about the subject.

With this in mind, Fox News producer Griff Jenkins went to the Take Back America convention in Washington, D.C., Wednesday to get Jesse Jackson's opinions about the controversy that virtually everyone in America is talking about.

Sadly, the Reverend wasn't interested in answering any of Jenkins' questions on this matter (video available here courtesy our friend Ms Underestimated):

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

BILL O'REILLY, HOST: So far, Reverend Jackson has been silent about the Reverend Wright controversy, so FOX News producer Griff Jenkins asked him about it at the far left Take Back America convention in D.C.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

GRIFF JENKINS, FOX NEWS PRODUCER: So reverend, do you condemn Reverend Wright's words? I mean, six days after 9/11, he talked about our chickens are coming home to roost.

JACKSON: I'm really not going to address any of that now, frankly, because I think to cede into it is to expand it. And I'm struggling as others are to put the focus on the war, the focus on the economic alliance, the focus on poverty, which is crippling and growing, the focus on the impact of the health insurance crisis for working people.

JENKINS: But we can't deny the controversy it's caused.

JACKSON: Well, indeed it is.

JENKINS: Do you condemn Reverend Wright's comments?

JACKSON: But you do have a choice as to which you're going to speak, what your priorities are. And you'll hear my priorities today. Thank you.

JENKINS: So you won't condemn Reverend Wright's comments?

Apparently not. Moments later, Jenkins was accosted by someone clearly not pleased with his presence at the convention:

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You're talking about...

JENKINS: Who are you with? Who are you? Who are you?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I'm just asking a question. I'm just asking a question. No, no, asking a question. What's a fair question? I'm a citizen. So tell me why aren't you talking to people -- why aren't you talking about the Bob Jones people that want to have racial separation?

JENKINS: Why don't you let me do my job?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: No, no, no, I'm doing my job. Go ahead, answer the question, FOX News.

JENKINS: I'm going to ask you again.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Answer the question, FOX News.

JENKINS: (INAUDIBLE).

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Don't touch me. Answer the question, FOX News.

JENKINS: This is unnecessary.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Answer the question, FOX News.

JENKINS: That's unnecessary.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Oh, what's the matter, FOX News, answer the question?

JENKINS: This guy is harassing me.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Answer the question, FOX News.

JENKINS: I'm not going to -- I don't have to put up with this.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Answer the question, FOX News.

JENKINS: Ask a fair question.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I'm asking you a fair question.

JENKINS: He answered my questions. I don't need to be harassed.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Answer the question, FOX News.

JACKSON: Please don't. Please don't.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I'm just asking the question. I want to ask a question.

JACKSON: Please don't. Please don't. Please don't.

JENKINS: Thank you very much.

How pleasant.

I saw the video....

...and it was pretty bad.

Anyone wanna bet that this thug is on Jackson's payroll and was making sure Whitey knows not to ask any more uncomfortable questions of the Rev in the future?

Jackson goes nowhere whithout his thugs for protection

This is EXACTLY what happens when any reporter asks a question that Jackson would rather not deal with. The signal is given and the reporter(s) are surrounded and harrased by "regular people" until they leave in fear of their safety.

The day that "politician" became a career choice is the day we started losing the Republic. Let's get it back! Alan Keyes '08.

Slight correction

Great piece, Noel, but I think you need to change the last few quotes in the transcript.  It was the reverend Jackson that was saying "Please don't", in the last two lines attributed to Jenkins, and Jenkins that said "Thank you reverend", not the unidentified male.

JS

JS,

Thanks. The LN transcript just listed all commentors as "unidentified male." Not very helpful. ns

Action Jackson

This is correct.  I saw the piece on O'Reilly last night and it was Jackson who came to the Fox producer's rescue.  O'Reilly then did thank him on the air.  The thug in question in all probability committed a misdemeanor by blocking the producer's path and harassing him while having the nerve to tell him in a threatening manner "Don't touch me" as the producer attempted to get by him. Typical liberal a-hole trying to turn the tables.  He deserved to get decked.

THINK ABOUT THIS...

What would have happened to Jenkins if there were no cameras? The "unidentfied male" would have taken things further then just being a verbal bully.

"Some of us are wise, some of us are otherwise"  Mark Levin

It appears it is now

It appears it is now necessary for Fox News producers to have an armed guard present when on the job. It didn't have to be this way, but now it is. Better safe than sorry.

I saw this attempt at an interview, that unidentified male was VERY aggressive, the producer was pretty puny, so that figures. It's time to stop pandering to threats.

Follow up question:

"Can we assume your reluctance to condemn Rev. Wright's comments means you agree with them?"

BTW: Mr. Unidentified Male, Bob Jones University is open to all.

Bob Jones

Can someone fill me in...  What are the issues with Bob Jones University and why is it being used as a counter attack on those critical of Obama?

Thanks.

The problem with people like Jackson, Wright, and Meeks, is that they continue to perpetuate the hate.

So rather than compare Wright to Bob Jones, Falwell or Robertson, people should be comparing him to Fred Phelps (the God Hates Fags guy) ...

Sorry, not buying it

To certain people, the very concept of sin is inflammatory.  So anything a preacher might say could be considered inflammatory.  But I don't remember Falwell or the others working people up into a furious hatred of those they consider to be enemies.

You might disagree with their views, but you can't say they were deliberately stirring up fear and hatred...in fact, the fear and hatred was directed against them by people who were offended by their strict adherence to the moral teachings of the Bible.

Shy, Here's a few

Shy,

Here's a few great quotes from recent blogs.  Keep in mind this rhetoric has been going on for days.  As I said, racism abounds on the NB these days.

It's quite sad actually.

1)  The fact is that if you see on black person on the street there is usually no danger. If you see three or more black people (it used to be only male blacks) you had better give them a wide berth. The media has to 'sometimes" back this up when unwarrented attacks occur. Most 'non-blacks' have learned to avoid a lot of areas in major cities or they die.   LINK

WHOA!  Amazing.  Or they die?  That is so extreme.

2)  What I am hearing here is white folk like Stengal think they know what black folk think, he's never lived around black folk, probably has had only a little interaction with black folk.

If he had, he would know that black men in their late fifties on up, absolutely do not like white folk.  LINK

Hmmm.  No explanation necessary.  Quite ignorant.

3)  As a "white" American I owe NOTHING to "black" Americans for what happened in the very distant past of this country's history ... and by that measure, "black" Americans today aren't owed anything more than I am owed.  Yet, they have the [luxury] of affirmative action, first dibs on college funding (grants, etc.), in some cases extra "points" for being black when applying to  certain colleges or jobs ... and not to mention the decades of welfare, food stamps and any number of "government" (see, 'bite out of MY pay check') assistance programs that enabled their poverty.  LINK

ANGRY!  Wow!  Pssst it's not right to classify all black people as poor, money-grubbing, system abusers.  That's a racist, stereotypical thought.  This poster clearly harbors a massive amount of aggression/hate towards his black American brothers.  The most depressing part is that EIGHT individual posters enthusiastically agreed with his hateful diatribe.

4)  The fact is, based on statistics, black males are 7 times more likely to be criminals.  5% of black men and 0.7% of white men are in the pen.  Granny is not racist and she's not stupid.  LINK

Translation - Avoid black people, they're all criminals.  Ha.  Hey at least this poster is open and honest about their racism.  The stats are correct but these stats do not warrant the avoidance of black people as this poster advocates.  Startling.  Truly startling.  Granny's not racist, but you are.

5)  The irony of 21st century black anger..as promoted by racists like Obama's mentor Rev. Wright, is that it is very arguable that this anger is itself a huge impediment to success in many Black peoples' lives.

It provides and endless supply of excuses and justifications to not give full effort in school or at work, or to quit or cop an attitude over the slightest obstacle or hardship, or in the worst case provides illogical justification for criminal and anti-social behavior.   LINK

No comment necessary.  This is startling stuff.  If I was an NB masthead I'm thinking it's time to drive the conversation away from Wright.  It's bringing all the NB racists out of the woodwork.

So there's 5 examples that I could find quickly within the first 5 threads on the homepage.  If I keep going I'll have many many many more examples.  Not enough time right now but might be a fun little task for this long holiday weekend.

Shy, say what you will about Wright/Obama, but the level of racism around here is clear.  Seems more NBs are racist than we had originally thought.

Yikes, what happened to this place?

You are crazy Leon - none of this stuff is racist - you don't

know what racism is

Leon...  "As I said,

Leon...

"As I said, racism abounds on the NB these days. It's quite sad actually."

Yes it is sad, especially when I see it coming from the left. Racism rarely comes from the right, but the left seems to be invested in it.

"Abstain from McCain"

HOW LIBS HANDLE DEBATE OR QUESTIONS...

LIBERALS AND HOW THEY DEBATE-ANSWER

Watch TV news-talk shows?
Ever notice how very few questions are ever really answered by national democrats or their supporters?

When observing the “modern liberal in verbal action”… ask a cogent relevant question … they almost always will:

01. Refuse to answer “yes or no”
02. Get louder and talk faster or mock the questioner
03. Point at other bad behavior to excuse bad behavior (this is in vogue now)
04. Topic-shift (often after being presented data on the current topic)
05. Start the “victim” litany
06. Talk non-stop to prevent further inquiry (a string of factless assertions)
07. Feign anger or surprise that ‘the questioner would stoop so low, etc”
08. Claim its personal or under investigation so they can’t comment
09. State firmly that “you don’t understand” (aka you are stupid)
10. Present a distracting joke to trivialize the subject
(On mobile TV cameras out of studio…they will get physical or quickly cowardly walk away in a huff)
This is all because modern liberalism (secular socialism) is
emotion-based and thus logical debate exposes the absurdity of their
ideas…

Thank you

Thanks for you insight. I was just pondering the more general question, "Why are liberals so often rude?". The subject incident reminded me of the other FOX incident with O'Reilly being blocked by a thug at an Obama event (http://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/mark-finkelstein/2008/01/07/shuster-oreilly-such-buffoon-jerk ). I've personally experienced No. 06 with liberal friends many times.  It seems to me to be the most common example, as it requires the lowest level of "skill". To save myself a from wasting time with fruitless future debate, I have a private pigeonhole I mentally put them in called "screaming liberals". It means they loudly interrupt constantly and talk over you. And, someone stole the McCain sign in my front yard! Your post helps put things in perspective.

Just a second Leon

You want to talk about "they do it too" then why don't we talk about that...

Let's talk about lefty bloggers dragging up John Hagee's endorsement of McCain and comparing it to a 20 year friendship between Obama and Wright.

Let's talk about apologists on CNN who dredged up an ancient remark from Bill Bennett just to compare him to Jeremiah Wright.

Let's talk about lefties who've never listened to a single sermon from Rod Parsley make vague references to controversial things he most certaintly must have said somewhere, all to detract from Jeremiah Wright.

Let's talk about genuises like goldbar who linked to a lawsuit involving Pat Robertson, conveniently forgetting to mention all the charges were dropped, in his efforts to defend Obama.

Let's talk about Jack Cafferty saying anti-abortion views are worse than Jeremiah Wright's tirades.

Shall I go on?

and lefties shouldn't be

and lefties shouldn't be bigoted Christophobes

but Democrat happens

I've got an even better

I've got an even better idea.

Stop calling people racist because they don't agree with Barack Obama's skewed ideas about race; and his mentor's 30 year history of attempting to destroy good race relations.

Jack, I haven't done that

Jack,

I haven't done that at all.

I'm commenting on the actual word written by posters on Newsbusters.

You can disagree with Obama without making wide sweeping generalizations and stereotypes about black people.

Um... no you can't, not

Um... no you can't, not when it's Obama's "wide sweeping generalizations and stereotypes about [color] people" they're disagreeing with. Talking about any group of people is inherently a generalization; no getting around that. Obama talks in generalizations so much that there is very little fact to dispute him on, likely an intentional effect so that he can dismiss any factual dispute with his generalizations as uncommon, not the norm, very rare, etc. Hence, the only way to argue with him is to dispute the validity of his generalizations with our own. However, we have standard-issue liberal anti-thought like yours that automatically declares any generalization of non-whites by Republicans or independants as "racist" regardless of the experience composing such claims or their veracity.

For example, the comment noting the greater percentage of blacks in the prison system compared to whites: You declared this a racist comment and inferred (based on absolutely nothing) that the writer was saying "stay away from all blacks", stating your faulty inference as fact. If you could be bothered to think logically and without extreme bias for a few seconds, it should occur to you that the comment was in no way racist (again, typical lib mentality: Any negative facts about [insert race here] are racist), in no way suggested staying away from all blacks, and was, in truth, simply a factual justification for people of all colors being more nervous around black youths than those of other colors. Is that attitude based on generalization? Yes, but is the generalization of blacks being more dangerous than whites supported by facts? Also yes. It would be racism if the facts didn't support it. As it is, it's simply reasonable caution based on reality.

Leon, rascism works both

Leon, rascism works both ways, as I'm sure you are well aware. I think people who are other than black are just sick and tired of not being able to post their opinions without someone calling "foul" on them. This is a good forum for this and no one should be chided for writing their opinion or being heard on this. I think this is a turning point in history for this country and no one should be dismissing these opinions.

There are many years of frustration built up in people who are every color and every background. I think everyone's point should be validated.

Um..okay

I hope Leon realizes that a lot of regular NBers are black and are open to a "frank and honest discussion" about racism - and isn't that what Obama wanted?

Why should I be surprised at this anyway? This is Leon we're talking to.

I'm kinda sorry I missed

I'm kinda sorry I missed this thread's early action, but I suppose a brief comment won't hurt. Oh, and Leon? I'm still waiting for you to explain yourself here, too.

The simple fact is that the black community (a phrase that, in and of itself, indicates a racist, segregationist viewpoint by the people who coined the term to refer to themselves) does have a greater concentration of racists than the "whiteys". My middle and high schools were about 30% black, so I got 7 years of watching both sides of this argument, and I consistantly saw racism in the black community that wasn't present to anywhere near the same degree elsewhere. If you were a black guy with a white girlfriend, other blacks would regularly heckle you about how you need to be with one of the "sistas". If it was the other way around, the girl would be constantly counciled to get with a one of the guys from the 'hood, not whitey, and the guy would be the recipient of cold glares, hateful comments, and, on at least one occasion, physical abuse. I can't be sure how prevelant this sort of mentality is, but I can say that it was much more consistent and open than in the larger number of whites in the schools.

Go listen to some of the black churches around, go listen to speakers to black organizations, go look through magazines that cater to blacks. I doubt you'll see it as such, but racism is ingrained in the vast majority of these. The fact that those three things even exist is a testement to an indoctrination in subtle racism. "Stick with your own kind," is pushed in every way imaginable not by whites but as advice within the black community. It gets served right along with "The big, white government hates you," and "The Democrats are the party that cares about you."

You want to see an environment in which racism ceases to exist? One word for you: Marines. They understand that combat situations rely absolutely on being able to completely trust your mates, so racism is not allowed to exist. Black guys, white guys, yellow guys, brown guys, purple guys, whatever. Put them all in BDUs (read: fatigues for the pure civilians here), send them to boot camp, and you they all come back Semper Fi guys.

...is allowing Obama to show HIS true colors.

  Bal, Apparently Bob Jones

Bal, Apparently Bob Jones doesn't have a corner on the market of race mixing, as Per: http://www.youtube.com/v/khuu-RhOBDU&hl=en

It would have been

It would have been interesting if the Fox guy had answered whatever question this guy had about Bob Jones and then see what the guy had to yap about.

More "moral equivalence"

"Moral Equivalence" -- don't look at what Jackson and Sharpton have done to America. Go to the "Bob Who?" tape. Don't talk about Wright, talk about Geraldine Ferraro. Sad and ignorant.

NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal"

Thanks for purposefully

Thanks for purposefully missing the complete point. You're a treat.

point

Balboa, you're only point is to be contrary. It's very old.

Um...nothing contrarian

Um...nothing contrarian about what I posted. You know what's old? Cheese graters. No one uses them anymore.

LOL Bal

Usually I don't pay much attention to your comebacks, but this one made me laugh.

"It would have been

"It would have been interesting if the Fox guy had answered whatever
question this guy had about Bob Jones and then see what the guy had to
yap about."

He wouldn't shut up long enough to have the question answered, even if Griff was willing to anwer it.

We need to have Jackson's

We need to have Jackson's words transcribed more often. I haven't been able to understand what the hell he's been saying for years now. What's with the mush mouth? I think it's from carrying around too much BS in there...LOL Excellent post, Noel!

I can understand the

I can understand the individual words spoken by Jackson just fine. It's parsing and understanding his convoluted sentences I have a problem with. They either don't make sense or he uses 7 times the number words needed to get across the point(?) he's attempting to make.

Action Who?

Ol' Jesse did a lot of stammering as he dodged and weaved trying to avoid the producer's question about Obama's minister of hate.  Funny how the cat has his tongue when the subject is overt black racism.  Can you imagine if it was a white minister spouting white power?  You wouldn't be able to shut him up. This guy has to be one of the biggest hypocrites who ever fouled the planet.

NoMore.....

Obama become President is the worst thing that can happen right now for people like Jackson, Sharpton and Wright. Think about it....how can they cry racism if a black man gets the  highest position in the country? They technically shouldn't but you can bet your house that the race baiters will find a way.

“Were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers or newspapers without government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter”  - Thomas Jefferson

Ooooooo

I wouldn't bet the farm on that one Navybuckeye

There power and funding is derived solely from race baiting, race pimping and intimidation. They will always see what they want to see.

What's a fair question?

"why aren't you talking about the Bob Jones people that want to have racial separation?"

That's a question that should have been directed towards Mr. Jackson since HE was the subject of the interview and not "fox news." Looks like Mr. “unidentified male” needs to go back to public school and learn better debating skills.

What in the hell does Fox

What in the hell does Fox News have to do with Bob Jones University and why should they have to answer for them?

I saw this last night and

I saw this last night and was immediately angry with the treatment Griff received plus the obvious angry non-stop reference to Fox News...

First thing I thought of is how someone doesn't push this guy out of your face is remarkable, great restraint by Jenkins...Second thing I thought of is if this had been say Ron Allen I think it is and this was for msnbc although he works for CNN now, they would of screamed racism if the guy with the mike would of been white doing the same thing.

The whole thing was disgusting and the unidentified in your face bully made an a$$ if himself...for all to see.

Jackson knew good and well when to intervene...IMHO.

Stupidity

These people's stupidity speaks volumes..........

Drat. My hopes were up...

But my politically-incorrect comment is still cloaked.
JMR

A corruption-story the TV media will-not cover.

As usual...

the answer is to confront...to use violence and to get angry. We ain't seen nothing yet. They think it's they're time folks and if B. Hussein Obama doesn't get the nomination what you just saw is what they're gonna do on a large scale...they don't understand how it works...they think he's going to get the nomination and the presidency and that's that....I got bad news for them and for the Country when he looses....they only know one way how to react to things they don't like and you just saw it...get ready America....
