For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: End of Democrat presidential nomination process nowhere in sight:
- Re-vote in Florida appears unlikely
- Do-over possible in Michigan
- More televised debates being planned
- Superdelegates breaking for Obama
The general election polls now show McCain in a virtual tie with whichever Democrat wins. Pollsters Scott Rasmussen and John Zogby told radio host Sean Hannity on Thursday that the battle between Barack and Hillary appears to be hurting them both, and helping McCain. They also stated that this is beginning to impact things at the state level, inasmuch as there are now blue swing states that could turn red in November, a virtual diametric shift in the last two months.
With this fight now likely to go into August, and destined to get nastier with more dirt coming out about both Democrat candidates, isn't McCain in the catbird seat? Doesn't this change all the conventional wisdom being espoused about this election months ago?

When the Dim is selected
March 14, 2008 - 10:25 ET by ThisnThatI think the real fall-out will occur after the Dim is selected. There's going to be so much hatred on both sides that the Dims will either not vote at all, or drift towards McCain. I think this will be more dramatic if Clinton is the actual nominee. Seeing the radicalism from Obama's black support is real revealing. They are truly full of hatred towards white people, and he's doing nothing to dissuade this.

March 14, 2008 - 11:59 ET by mattm...we're racists if we don't vote for O-bomb-a, or sexists if we don't elect HRC, and they'll still say these things even if they win.
This fight might reveal the long-known fact that it is THEY who are the real racists, sexists and otherwise bigoted, shallow-minded hypocrites, but the MSM will paint over that by smearing the Right as per usual.
The hate in this country is on the Left. The hate in the world is coming from those who want the Left to succeed in this country. And the ones who are willing to stand up to the haters, are the most hated ones. But, as Jesus (the middle-class Jew) said...

"The hate in this country is on the Left."
Yes it is, and I have personal knowledge of it. I live in the South and live in a county that has a long and very deep history of democratic control. What I'm hearing from the top democrat dogs around here is... They won't vote for a black guy, or 'that woman', so they intend to vote for the old white guy that acts like a Democrat.
Racism and Sexism is the driving force in this election, but not for us on the right. I find it amusing that the Dems try to point the fingers at us when it is their own bigotry they need to attend to.
"Abstain from McCain"
It's going downhill now
March 14, 2008 - 10:31 ET by BeanManI have a gut instinct that Obama is heading downhill now. Sure there are those who will continue to bask in his glow and faint at the sight of him but the majority of the country, I believe, is beginning to see him for what he is. The old-time saying "A flash in the pan" applies to him. He has no experience, no vision other than tax the rich and "free" healthcare for all, and he would be mincemeat in the face of a real trial.
What Geraldine Ferraro said is absoutely true. She stepped down because she spoke the truth. Hillary Clinton wouldn't be where she is if not for Bill Clinton, Obama wouldn't be where he is if he were just another white politican. Remember when Isaiah Thomas, in a bout of frustration, said a similar thing about Larry Bird, after the Celtics had ruined another bid by the Pistons.
If everyone starts playing by Obama's rules, they will lose to Obama. It's that plain and simple. There will always be one of the perpetually aggrived to gasp and say "you can't say that!!" and down they will go. Don't think he doesn't know this.

March 14, 2008 - 10:31 ET by ConservativeRexHere's a thought to clear up this logjam. Have each democratic candidate start the bidding to garner the most votes.
They could start by offering 5 weeks mandatory paid vacation for everyone employed, and 10 weeks mandatory paid vacation to those unemployed and on state/federal aid. If they are going to offer Govt run medical care why not offer more? In fact, to insure they get voters by the thousands they could increase the money going to those on state/federal aid by thousands of dollars each. Promise them all a raise, to say $40K a year, that should get them just enough votes to win this darn thing.
That should leave enough people still in the work force to pay for all of their promises. And what to we need the money for anyway? Everything is going to be taken care of under both of their plans/promises so all we have to do is keep working. The Hildabeast promised to take those evil oil company's profits and use them for good...so there's that.
So by all means, have more debates to figure out how to get even more money out of productive people's pockets. If they concentrate and promise more, one of 'em will emerge victorious!

Swtiching Parties
March 14, 2008 - 10:47 ET by ricklailThis letter to the editor ran in our local paper, New Bern Sun Journal, today. Since I am unaffliated I can declare on May 6th which primary I want to vote in. I am voting for Hillary.
Switch to fight
The “Democrat” party has created for itself an exquisitely painful dilemma. After the Texas and Ohio primaries it seems that Obama can’t knock out Clinton, and she can’t actually beat him. This makes it increasingly likely that neither will be the nominee until their convention in August.
Last fall nobody would have thought that the May 6 North Carolina primary would have been anything but a rubber stamp to the already chosen nominee. The primary now stands as a possible giant boost to Mrs. Clinton’s fading chances at the general election.
Many independent but conservative North Carolina voters understand how important this state now is and, in order to prolong the donkey’s dyspepsia, they will cross over and cast their votes for Clinton.
Along with this mess, what to do about the Michigan and Florida delegates remains problematic. Party chairman Howard Dean has proposed to “do-over” those primaries. A “duel over” these elections would be infinitively more decisive.

It's not just about murder, its the doctrine.
Sharia law is oppressive, sexiest, and cruel. We get headlines EVERYDAY of stupid crazy things that happen in contries that are Islamic. It is anti Christianity (which should bother you, but doesn't), and it is also anti American (again, which should bother you, but doesn't).
Instead you present "holier than thou" crap and (and yet again) old tired links that do not counter arguments against your position.
So get this through your skull, it's not about Muslims its about Islam. I fear no man. God will call me home when he is ready.
Until then, I will fight for His Doctrine and Islam is on the opposite spectrum.
Keep leaving your crap. There are plenty of people here who will continue to clean it up.

McCain is going to be body-slammed by the MSM. Believe me, what they have thrown at him so far are essentially Nerf balls compared to what will be coming his way. Once the dust settles over the "messiah's" current problems, they will be going right back after him.
McCain has a lot of baggage in tow. While much of the MSM will be wanting to hold off until after the convention, many will not be able to help themselves. The RNC convention isn't until the first week of September. I don't see the more aggressive areas of the MSM being willing to hold off that long.
I also think McCain's age will work against him, as he was not all that impressive in the debates. He appeared to me to be easily confused.
Then there is what seems to me to be his almost compulsive need to apologize for every negative comment made about Obama and Hillary. If this is how he intends to run a campaign, he is going to get his hiney waxed when the real thing comes along. I have to believe many can see the futility here.
You also have to take into consideration that McCain was the beneficiary of a lot of x-over voting in the primaries that have been held to date. Most of these people are probably busily re-registering with their real party of choice, the Democrats. Even the x-overs who voted in states that do not require registration by party will not be voting for McCain in November.
Personally, I am hoping that there are enough old-school conservatives left in the party to possible derail this man's candidacy. Many conservatives stayed home in the primaries that have been held so far. I have to believe that at least some in the higher echelons of the party took note of this.
Maybe I am grasping at straws here, but McCain doesn't have to be the Republican nominee in September.
At least, for the good of the country I love dearly, I'm hoping he isn't.
Oh, and did I mention he is a flaming liberal?

March 16, 2008 - 02:00 ET by R D HelmLOL-Actually, I was thinking in terms of a real conservative.
Hell, given the current crappy crop of choices, I'd almost be willing to settle for Wee Willy, if he would just promise not to castrate the military again. At least he, unlike McCain and GWB, didn't attempt to sell us out to the Mexican invaders for $5000 a pop.
