For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: Republican Party leads Democrats in fund-raising:

The Democratic National Committee ended 2007 nearly flat broke, with cash of $2.9 million and debts of $2.2 million. Since then it has raised some money, paid down debt and managed to put $3.7 million in its piggy bank. This compares, however, with $25 million that the Republican National Committee has in cash on hand, after having raised $97 million since the beginning of 2007.

Does this make a difference in the calculus concerning November? More to the point, despite media and Democrat assertions that the GOP is in a lot of trouble, have such prognostications been as accurate as Hillary's inevitability? Do these numbers make some of the conservative Nervous Nellies less anxious about Republican chances on Election Day?

RON PAUL QUITS!

Goodbye crazy ol' Uncle Paul.

See you at Christmas.

There, there, Sarky-poo. Buck up, little trooper!

What's to "buck up" about, Whiner?

My guy will be doing the C-Span "I told you so" dance for 2 more years, so you can call me a "loser" all you want. Your guy still lost, and mine still won. Deal with it.

Ron Paul Memorabilia

Here's a link to Dr. Paul's last campaign poster. Get one quick -- they'll be worth a fortune in a few years.

And here's proof

He's "racist." Good thing the republicans went for "wisdom" instead of divisive racial nastiness.
JMR

A corruption-story the TV media will-not cover.

Ron Paul the Racist

I'm glad you admitted that Ron Paul is a racist.

It explains why he voted against making MLK's birthday a federal holiday.

Yeah, that's just what we needed

Keep "affirmative action" and add another federal holiday to already bloated spending. In fact, I'm sure you've also "proved" why Ronald Reagan opposed it until he got force-fed with a veto-proof majority. Such intellectual depth...No wonder I have such trouble taking-on a bunch of you at once! Keep flailin'!!

Hell, I'm a Veteran and I work Memorial day.  Of course they'd let me have the day off if I'd died in combat, so better this than the alternative.

Ron Paul the Racist

I don't think R.R. ever said:

Paul reported on gang crime in Los Angeles and
commented, “If you have ever been robbed by a black teen-aged male, you
know how unbelievably fleet-footed they can be.”

“Given the inefficiencies of what D.C. laughingly calls the
`criminal justice system,’ I think we can safely assume that 95 percent
of the black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely
criminal,”
Paul said.

Paul also wrote that although “we are constantly told that it is
evil to be afraid of black men, it is hardly irrational.
Black men
commit murders, rapes, robberies, muggings and burglaries all out of
proportion to their numbers.”

Stating that lobbying groups who seek special favors and handouts
are evil, Paul wrote, “By far the most powerful lobby in Washington of
the bad sort is the Israeli government” and that the goal of the
Zionist movement is to stifle criticism."

There's more, too!

Well, heaven forbid

Any critique of AIPAC. That automatically makes any critic a hater. Who gives a crap about our nation's military secrets when it comes to "friends," right? If the NYT does it, it upsets NB denizens. If AIPAC apparently does the same thing? Dead silence (even though the NYT's covering it) and endless political trial-delays. I've yet to hear word-one about AIPAC-spying here from anybody but me.

And as for the other stuff, you know the truth whether or not you're honest enough to admit it. Both elections are over, so cease the BS. Don't make me bring my old sigfile back and auto-refute you every time I post again.
JMR

A corruption-story the TV media will-not cover.

The Question You'll Never Answer

And as for the other stuff, you know the truth whether or not you're
honest enough to admit it. Both elections are over, so cease the BS.
Don't make me bring my old sigfile back and auto-refute you every time
I post again.

In other words, you won't comment on Ron Paul's newsletter full of racist and anti-semetic material as well as totally wacked out conspiracy theories. Ron Paul, of course, said he didn't write any of this material published in his name, and his supporters accepted this implausible explanation without question.

Did you ever consider the fact that anybody who let someone publish this kind of stuff in his name, for over a decade, isn't qualified to run a Dairy Queen?

Eh?

"Without question"?

Now you're even more full of crap than usual...And did you just "prove" Reagan's a racist, or are you actually going to back off what you claimed about Paul on the exact same issue? Flip, flop. Again.
JMR

A corruption-story the TV media will-not cover.

Answer the Question

I proved that you won't explain why Ron Paul, who let someone publish racist and anti semetic material in his name for over a decade, is qualified to run even a Dairy Queen.

C'mon -- give it a try!

I did.

The fact that you don't like my answer does not change it, no matter what you whine.
JMR

A corruption-story the TV media will-not cover.

Heh!

You didn't explain why Ron Paul, who let someone publish racist and anti semetic material in his name for over a decade, is qualified to run even a Dairy Queen.

And you never will.

Nope, I already did

What's never-happening is YOU answering my "distinguish Paul from Ronald Reagan" question, because you know you can't, so you're desperately trying to change the subject. It's not working, though.
JMR

A corruption-story the TV media will-not cover.

You Can Read it Out Loud if Necessary

What's never-happening is YOU answering my "distinguish Paul from Ronald Reagan" question...

Sigh! Once more -- R.R. didn't say or write:

“If you have ever been robbed by a black teen-aged male, you know how unbelievably fleet-footed they can be.”

“Given the inefficiencies of what D.C. laughingly calls the `criminal justice system,’ I think we can safely assume that 95 percent of the black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal.”

“we are constantly told that it is evil to be afraid of black men, it is hardly irrational. Black men commit murders, rapes, robberies, muggings and burglaries all out of proportion to their numbers.”

“By far the most powerful lobby in Washington of the bad sort is the Israeli government”

Ron Paul, however, did. There's a bit more to it than MLK's birthday, and in Ron Paul's case he's exhibited a pattern of making racist comments and publishing racist writings.

Now it's your turn.

Explain why Ron Paul, who let someone publish racist and anti semetic material in his name for over a decade, is qualified to run even a Dairy Queen.

Nope.

As you already know, Ron Paul did NOT write that (he did write this) so you're being typically-dishonest. Further, your attempt to distinguish Reagan is a bit lame, considering your earlier words which relied SOLELY on the MLK holiday position as a measure of racism, so you lose on that count, too. Flip, flop....
JMR

A corruption-story the TV media will-not cover.

You Know What I Know? Hahaa!

As you already know, Ron Paul did NOT write that...

How do you know that I know that? I don't know that. And why was Ron Paul asleep at the wheel when it was being published under his name?

Further, your attempt to distinguish Reagan is a bit lame, considering your earlier words which relied SOLELY on the MLK holiday position as a measure of racism, so you lose on that count, too.

Nope -- I just used one example of Ron Paul's racism. I didn't need to use all of them. Besides, it would take many hours to produce a comprehensive list of Ron Paul's racist writings and comments.

So you lose again.

Now let's return to your first point, that Ron Paul didn't write those things. Why did he allow someone to write those comments in his name? Why did Ron Paul allow the following comment about MLK to be published in his name:

"He was also a comsymp, if not an actual party member, and the man who replaced the evil of forced segregation with the evil of forced integration.

King, the FBI files show, was not only a world-class adulterer, he also seduced underage girls and boys. The Rev. Ralph David Abernathy revealed before his death that king had made a pass at him many years before.

And we are supposed to honor this "Christian minister" and lying socialist satyr with a holiday that puts him on a par with George Washington?"

Now explain why Ron Paul, who allowed someone publish racist and anti semetic material in his name for over a decade, is qualified to run even a Dairy Queen.

I'll tell you why

1. Because he was busy being an OBGYN and delivering 4K babies in a state with a huge population of rapacious trial lawyers who make a living off OBGYNS.

2. Bullcrap. You tried to use something and I turned it around with the Reagan example, from which you have yet to distinguish or recover logically. You lose.

3. See 1. Loser.
JMR

A corruption-story the TV media will-not cover.

You Lose Again

1. Because he was busy being an OBGYN and delivering 4K babies in a state with a huge population of rapacious trial lawyers who make a living off OBGYNS.

Too busy helping women with what happens naturally? How did the human race survive for hundreds of thousands of years without RON PAUL?

BTW -- how many times was Ron Paul sued by rapacious trial lawyers

They're creeps, but did RP ever really deal with them?

Got any documentation?

Eh?

2. Bullcrap. You tried to use something and I turned it around with the
Reagan example, from which you have yet to distinguish or recover
logically.

R.R. was never tainted with the kind of racist statements RON PAUL has tried to deny.

Simpleton.

If you're actually dimwitted enough

To think that modern OBGYNs don't fear or deal with lawyers, I'll just rest my case. And YOU'RE the one that painted RR as a racist for opposing MLK Day, not me. Don't blame me. I just made a fool of you above, after you said something stupid again. Don't like it? Don't say so many stupid things.
JMR

A corruption-story the TV media will-not cover.

More Insults

How many times was RP sued for malpractice?

Why did he let someone write racist and anti-semetic newsletters in his name for over a decade? Isn't that pretty stupid?

Yep

You're obviously pretty stupid (see above) but it's not insulting to treat you with the respect you deserve. I call 'em like I see 'em, after all.
JMR

A corruption-story the TV media will-not cover.

Even More Insults

It's funny as hell to watch you play the "victim" card for Ron Paul!

Real conservatives don't whine like you.

Face it, the crickets are chirping from a real conservative idea as you whine and prove me right. Again. Loser.

How do you spell Sarky" L-O-S-E-R.

"My god"? Wow. Definitely

"My god"? Wow. Definitely hitting the bottle, and it's not even lunchtime.

Kindly post the comments where I heap godlike praise upon Peden, or even mentioned any monetary contributions from this Shrubber to his campaign. Oh wait, you can't, because that involves effort and would be fruitless. You are obviously too dense to even grasp the concept of "using Peden to make Saracmo lok like a douche was too tempting to pass up".

You are definitely unhinged today, LOSER. Take break, step away from the ledge, and stop posting gibberish. Repeating other people's posts is well, a cry for one of these.

I will, the moment you do the same

JMR

Boohoo boohoo

Well, loser, I congratulated Ron Paul on Wednesday's award-winning Shrub Report®, and you, being the sore-winner immature crybaby you are, acted like a little douchebag and accepted those congratulations with the grace of Michael Moore performing "Swan Lake".

But that IS typical of Libertarians, isn't it? There is a chip on your shoulder sooooo big, that you are an a$$hole to EVERYBODY.

I think it is good that Paul won his seat back. There has to be a yang to Kucinich's ying. Sucks to have been SO INVESTED in a losing campaign, though, doesn't it, LOSER?

Your Lord and Master will fade into oblivion, barely-remembered, except as the "weird guy from Texas that ran for President". Of course, even after that, most people will think of Ross Perot...

You have yet to explain what Ron Paul is going to do with all that money he has left over?

Whiner...

Your "congratulations" were ample proof of your douchebaggery, so I treated you accordingly. Less whine and more substance would have gotten an entirely different response, but I've re-read my words, and I stand by every one of 'em. LOSER. And I am not obligated to explain anything to the likes of a whiner like you.

Until then, you will continue to receive the heaping amount of crap you have earned. You have brought this upon yourself, inflicting months of self-righteous Libertarian douchebaggery upon the NB masses. Tough love, Sarky. Tough love.

So, Sarky-poo, why are you still touching little boys?

JMR

Good point. Ron Paul

Good point. Ron Paul bringing back pork to his home district is a HUGE selling point for fiscal CONSERVATIVES like you, genius.

You bitch about Congress spending like idiots, yet praise your God for bringing pork to his district.

I understand. It is now not

I understand. It is now not "Ron Paul will not accept taxpayer pork because he is the most fiscally-reponsible and lily-white soul in Congress", but is rather "Ron Paul is not as bad of a pork-barrel spender as a lot of you evil Republicans are".
How quickly you change your tune. Like I've said before: you talk like a Liberal. You change you tune when it suits you. One tune that does NOT change? You are a L-O-S-E-R.

I pointed out YOUR side's inconsistency

Wow, you do my work for me.

Wow, you do my work for me. I will go slow, so you can follow in your drunken stupor:

1. Sarky-poo bitches about pork-barrel spending by eveeel Republican policitians.
2. Sarky-poo worships Ron Paul, who he claims is pure as the driven snow and would NEVER accept money from lobbysists or use tax-payer pork to bring back to his district.
3. Ron Paul DOES bring tax-payer pork back into his district.
4. Sarcasmo, living in Bizarro World, then says "well, at least he is not as eveeeel as other Republicans" in bringing home the pork.

The fact that you do not even understand how you are contradicting yourself bigtime brings much pleasure to this shrubber. Add to this: you have been reduced to merely parroting everything said to you, and you have a sweet combination: a drunk, incoherent loser who thinks he is being clever and smart. The Repubs need money MSM fake story...will help

The MSM shouting the Sky is falling on the impression that the Dems out raised the Republicans for contributions.....will result in MORE $$$ for the Republicans.

Such is the power of the MSM.

No money worries for Dems

I'm surprised Newsbusters gives so much credibility to the New York Times. Then again I am not because the article is talking about their money problems

With HRC raising 32 million in a month and Barack Obama raising 55 million in month, they should have no problem being very well funded come election time

Exactly...

And it speaks volumes that judging by open wallets, the candidates are so-much more popular than the supposedly-essential duopoly. Repeatedly giving a "choice" between a tax and spend welfare state and a borrow and spend warfare state isn't too popular. Good point & good following-the-money, Shawn.
JMR

A corruption-story the TV media will-not cover.

You are confusing money

You are confusing money being raised on the presidency versus money being raised for congressional and senate races, Shawn. Two different animals.

Roger

I know the difference, my point is the money being raised Presidential candidates is an example of the momentum the Dems have.

Once they have picked the nominee, things will be in high gear. The Dems can just taste victory and all their components will be very funded come election time, they do not just want the Presidency, they want the house and senate as well. They also realize there is a chance they can have a filibuster proof senate.

Lets blame the media

Do you think that, somehow,

Do you think that, somehow, suddenly, donations to the DNC will suddenly EXPLODE?
Your statement: "The Dems can just taste victory and all their components will be very funded come election time, they do not just want the Presidency, they want the house and senate as well" carries little weight in light of the numbers right now. Unless you have access to Karl Rove's time machine, please enlighten us on how you came up with that little ditty.

Sure, things can change, but you have to admit that the copious amounts of stories of the inevitable crushing of Republicans in November and the extreme unhappiness of the Republican base has been greatly exaggerated.

roger

I actually do feel that the donations will come in more quickly, I don't know about explode. The Democrats are too busy trying to decide who is "liberal" enough to the promised land 'the oval office".

Once they decide, then they can concentrate on beating the GOP in other areas. Even if the money does not "EXPLODE' as you call it. The GOP has to defend close to 25 seats in the senate. Every house seat is up for grabs, but do you really think the GOP has great chance of getting 28 seats to take that back? The Dems and the msm will bring everything back, Katrina, Scooter Libby, Cunningham, Ney, Mark Foley.....

I agree with you and believe the stories of the inevitbale crushing of the Republicans in November are exagerrated. If Obama wins the nomination, I feel the GOP is in big trouble. HRC will be easier to defeat. I do not believe the extreme unhappiness the Repubican base are exaggerated. NB is good cluster sample of GOP base. How many members have said that they will not vote for a RHINO in Nov? Quite a lot from what I see,

Lets blame the media

Well, as long as the

Well, as long as the Hillary/Obama thing drags out, the LESS money will be donated to the DNC for the other races. The approval rating for the DEMOCRAT(ic)-controlled house and senate are at all-time lows, Shawn. That is having a detrimental effect on fund-raising. Add to that, you have the inability of the DNC powers-that-be to spend money wisely.

I guess my point is you are thinking like it is 2006. It ISN'T. The war was changed to the better, the Democrat(ic)s have proven to be even more inept than the Repubs in both houses, and many of the 2006 Dems that were swept into office just might find themselves swept right back out.

Democrats will win congress in 08

The Democrats are doing p*ss poor job in congress I agree. Like I said before there are too many seats to defend for me to see the GOP even coming close to taking back the senate. There is a small chance they can have 60 seats. The thought of having a Dem President and 60 seats scares even a leftist like me.

The house is possibility, but again, that is a hell of a lot of seats to take back.

I actually disagree with you about if it is 2006 again. Most Amerians do not know how government works and alot of them blame Bush for inflation, high gas prices, Katrina and so on. Make no mistake Dubya is very much on the ballad for 08.

The Dems will keep both houses and have the Presidency

most likely and anyone who votes or doesn't vote to let it happen are going to be very ashamed when they see the carnage. At least those of us who are going to fight against it happening can have a clear conscious.

Dubya's on the ballad? Is he entering dancing with the stars? ; )

just kidding you Shawn - I know what you meant and I type wrong all the time.

McCain killing GOP congressional chances.

I agree that the Democrats will keep control of congress in 08. I can see McCain being demoralizing enough that enough conservatives won't even vote, or at least won't jazz the GOP as a whole enought to vote in conservatives to congress. That plus the fact that any so-called "moderates" or "independents" that might vote for McCain will likely not cast their coat-tail votes for a conservative congressional or senate candidate. Whoever wins the Presidency, I see a long 4 years of a GOP minority fighting a desparate battle to keep the country from sliding further to European-style socialism, or downright communism by another name.

DISNEY protects Clintons:won't release "Path" to DVD

From today's Hollywood Reporter, more proof of the arrogance of the liberal Establishment and their contempt for any idea of fairness, or even basic democracy ideals.

This should make EVERYONE feel uneasy, but I guess it won't.

Disney steers clear of 'Path to 9/11'

By Paul Bond
March 7, 2008
Top brass at Disney were called on Thursday to defend their decision not to release "The Path to 9/11" on DVD and to justify CEO Robert Iger's $27.7 million pay package.

"Path" was a 2006 ABC miniseries critical of President Bill Clinton's handling of terrorist threats that was so controversial it prompted leading Democrats to ask Disney not to air the program. Disney, after making some hasty edits, ran it commercial-free.

At Disney's annual shareholders' meeting in Albuquerque, N.M., one mutual fund portfolio manager said it was high time Disney turn "Path" into a DVD and recoup some of the $40 million it spent on the project.

The fund manager, Tom Borelli, accused Iger of protecting HIllary Clinton's presidential campaign at the expense of shareholders and pointed out that Iger has been a steady Clinton donor since before the former first lady was elected to the Senate.

He claimed to have a letter from a Lionsgate representative proving that Disney has no intention of even selling the DVD rights to another company.

The "Path" question came shortly after another shareholder objected to foul language and persistent sexual innuendos on such ABC shows as "Ugly Betty" and "Good Morning America," prompting Iger to cite ABC's right of free speech. Borelli demanded to know why Iger seemed more interested in protecting curse words than he was in protecting political speech.

The fund manager noted Disney's reported $46 million profit on "Fahrenheit 9/11," also a politically controversial project -- though far more critical of Republicans than Democrats.

Seemingly taken-aback, Iger assured the shareholder that his decision on the DVD was based purely on business considerations and not on politics.

But I agree. And let's stop and think what I'd respect if the whinepower used here, which is substantial, were directed differently. Ignore foreign policy, we can agree to disagree on that for these purposes. Ignore entirely getting rid of the IRS, too. Ignore all the true and false stuff in your heads that makes Ron Paul controversial. Let's focus on trying to make the Republican party vaguely-conservative again, and let's assume despite the whines and the name-calling that Ron Paul occasionally has good ideas.

I'll face the truth as well. I know that I'm dealing with big government Republicans who won't admit it even when I admit if for 'em, but I'm used to that. So let's focus on something that's been TOTALLY ignored amid all the whines and all the racism-BS. Something noncontroversial. Something I personally tested and found VERY popular with young people, and the popularity was literally universal (most crappy ideas accompanied by money are, too, but I could see this appreciation was genuine).

So, what would that non-whining, conservative, actually-productive, smaller-government idea be, sarcasmo? you ask...Well, it would be this idea. HR 3664. I suggested to the Fred Thompson campaign, through a number of back-channels, that he steal that idea. Fred never did. Wow, McCain & a reporter just got into it on the plane

She was asking (over and over...) about the fact that Kerry had inquired about McCain (who said "no" at the time) as a running mate. McCain was claiming "everyone knows the whole story of how Kerry asked me to be VP already" (approximate quote, I could easily be wrong here) which is IMO at best a stretch, but he was clearly getting angry and he didn't want to discuss Kerry's phone call.

Towards the end, I got the feeling she was hamming it up a bit for Jon Stewart's show. This made me laugh (I have no problem with comedy-news shows, left or right) but it'll probably make others here furious. McCain could have just as easily made a joke of this, but as I said, I suspect this is destined for the Daily Show, which means the joke's definitely going to be on him.
