Clinton Backer: 'Obama Campaign Is Trying to Put That Noose on Her Neck'

Photo of Noel Sheppard.

In the past couple of months, two journalists -- the Golf Channel's Kelly Tilghman and Fox News's Bill O'Reilly -- have gotten themselves in trouble for making a seemingly innocent remark that involved the word "lynch."

On Sunday, a Democrat Congresswoman from Ohio innocently accused the Obama campaign of trying to put a noose around Hillary Clinton's neck.

Think this will stoke equal if any outrage?

While you ponder, Stephanie Tubbs Jones (D-Ohio), a Hillary Clinton supporter, was talking to Fox News's Shepard Smith about NAFTA as a campaign issue on Sunday when she said the following (h/t and video available here courtesy our dear friend Ms Underestimated):

Well, you now what, the camp, the Obama campaign is trying to put that noose on her neck. But the reality is that Senator Clinton does not wear, uh, NAFTA. NAFTA is something that occurred during the presidency of her husband. She was the first lady, but she has been very clear about NAFTA.

Now consider Tilghman's remarks about Tiger Woods which ended up getting her suspended for two weeks (video available here).

And here's what Bill O'Reilly said on Fox Radio about Michelle Obama that he apologized for (audio available here).

Now, assuming there ends up being no outrage concerning Tubbs Jones's statements, it can't be because she used the word "noose" rather than "lynch." After all, Dave Seanor, the longtime editor of Golfweek magazine, was fired for publishing the following cover regarding the Tilghman/Woods affair:

With this in mind, what else could save Tubbs Jones from the same ridicule and scrutiny O'Reilly, Seanor, and Tilghman were subjected to as a result of their largely similar indiscretions?

Well, I don't know, the noose is in reference to a white woman, so...... <waving hand> "Never mind!" -Emily Litella

Good Grief, Noel!!!!

Noose?

Hillary supporter?

No beverage alert?

Oh, we are certainly well into the silly season.

Noel,

Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones has two things working in her favor.

1) She is black.

2) She has that all important "D" behind her name.

She is what you might call double-insulated. :-)

John McCain is a liberal. He said so himself.

The more Hillary & her

The more Hillary & her supporters pull this BS, the smaller and more insignificant she looks.

Pledge to not support RINOs ever again!

It was used as an innocent

It was used as an innocent "expression" here just like it was when Kelly Tilghman and Bill O'reilly used the term.  Difference is that this lady will not be questioned about her motives in using the word.

Tubby Jones

I didn't hear what she said because everytime I see her face pop up, I grab the remote!!

Well

Seems Hillary supporters are running their mouths too much.I found this interest from Gloria Steinem. It was on Foxs webpage.

I dont like McCain but respect his service to the country while he was in the military.

Great link.

You should send it to El Rushbo.  He'd make such hay with that, I'm sure I'd drive off the road in fits of hysterics.

Feminism is dead....too bad these old hags just won't roll over and give it up.

If this is the best the left (and HRC) has to offer...I'm feeling a bit better, actually.

So thanks!

Funny when Condi recieved so many bigoted remarks from the left that the feminist were quiet.

It appears that the MSM is throwing a rope around that prickly problem.... in a manner of speaking.

Hangman will be outlawed in 2010.

In about 5 more years the media will have convinced the majority of this country that ONLY blacks have ever been subjected to hanging and that therefore a noose is ipso facto proof of racism or racist intent.

I can't wait for the first story about a school child filing a harassment suit because he saw two white kids playing Hangman and he just KNEW it was racial harrassment directed at him.  I'm placing the over/under at 3 years before it happens (and betting the under).

Someone thaw me out when the Victimhood Era is over. I'd just as soon skip the rest of it.

Hangman

I grew up in the 50's and watched cowboy movies where people were lynched all the time.  Usually bank robbers, etc.  It never occurred to me that a "noose" or "hangman" had anything to do with race.

The media makes it harder and harder for me to socialize with anyone other than a white male, as it seems there is no way I can be politically correct all the time.  The standards just seem too high.

Rev. Otis Moss, who marched

Rev. Otis Moss, who marched with MLK Jr., has said that Tubbs-Jones may have committed political suicide by backing Clinton.  The same might be said of Ohio Gov. Strickland who also supports Clinton.  Good riddance to both of them.

Current Cleveland Mayor Jackson and Former Mayor Mike White are both endorsing Obama.  White recently reversed his supprt from Clinton to Obama following the Cleveland debate last week.

Obama has been carpetbombing Cleveland with TV commercials nearly 24 hours a day.  One is playing right now with his Anti-NAFTA spiel.  Thanks to Obama, Canada has threatened to shut off America's #1 source of foreign oil - 1.8 million barrels a day.  Without Canada's oil, our gallon of gas would cost much more than the $4 the Liberals are already praying for, along with a tanking economy and horrendous unemployment among other assorted miseries.  The Left would be besides themselves with glee at our misfortune as they would view it as a supreme opportunity to wrench more power from the Right and the People in general.

Now there's another Obama commercial, this one focusing on Socialized Healthcare.  The $50 million he received in February is obviously being spent hand over fist in Ohio on advertising.  A few Democrats I've spoken with are getting tired of Obama.  Hillary rarely has a commercial on TV, probably deducing (correctly) that Cuyahoga County is in the pocket of Obama - high percentage of minorities, blue collar NAFTA haters and plenty of Birkenstock psuedo-intellectuals eager to be charmed by a pied piper of empty promises.

There are zero Hillary lawn signs but several Obama signs out for the past week or two on my street.  Rarely do I see a Clinton sign in my city, though there is no shortage of Obama midnight blue signage. Maybe this will have changed and I will see more Hillary signs on my way to work tomorrow.  I have yet to see a McCain sign.

And yet another Obama commercial just played.  That's one every 5-6 minutes!  This weasel attorney backed by fatcat money is pissing me off.  It is like the worst bill collector from the Twilight Zone harrassing you night and day - Obama will be collecting money from us all if he wins in November.  I have never rooted for Hillary but I would enjoy her cleaning Barack's Clock this Tuesday.

How dare you...

....use the word "midnight" and "Obama" in the same sentance. What are you, racist or something?

I agree. Live by the politics of race, die by the politics of race.

Does just marching with

Does just marching with MLK Jr. give you instant credibility? I think I recall that a lot of people marched with MLK Jr. Other than give me a gauge on your age, I'm not sure how that sets you apart as a spokesperson for race issues. Perhaps if you marched right next to MLK Jr., or if you helped to plan the march...

I marched, too.

I marched in a St. Patrick's Day Parade - does that make me an expert on the irish?

Too late

I was an expert on the irish until I marched in the Columbus Day parade. Now I am a lasagna expert.

Moss has the street cred to

Moss has the street cred to withstand your inquiry.  His church, Olivet Institutional Baptist Church, was the Cleveland Headquarters for MLK.  Moss was active in the Southern Christian Leadership Conference during the tulmultuous 60's and did indeed help plan and execute civil rights events with and for MLK.  He was not a bystander nor johnny-come-lately.

Moss' son, Otis Moss III, is now Obama's pastor at Trinity Church since Rev. Wright is "retiring".  Having read Trinity's website, understanding the black-centric foundation, one may wonder how the younger Rev. Moss will differ from the controversial Rev. Wright?  (Wright's church magazine Trumpet last year awarded its Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. Trumpeter Award to Louis Farrakhan, a man it said "truly epitomized greatness.")  Here is a video of Rev. Moss III on his thoughts towards Trinity Church principles and practicies and its critics.

I have some inner conflict concerning the black-centric "mission" of Trinity.  On one hand, every church must serve its parish/community such that the needs of that particular community are addressed.  As such, a bias is required which may differ from another Church's mission based upon the needs in that community.  Also, in order to gain support and trust of a community, the church must align itself somewhat to the needs of the community.  On the other hand, I am not comfortable when a church's mission statement or value system appears to give racial preference:  "We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian".  I thought being a Christian comes before race.

»→ Cut her some slack

She's a nobody.  She stays in the Hillary camp because if she was an Obama supporter she couldn't get any face time on the Sunday-go-round.

Obviously a reference to lynching a white woman is just one of those cute colloquialisms we should appreciate.

No race baiting in the Democrat party.
