As NewsBusters has been reporting the past couple of weeks, the media have been lambasting former President Bill Clinton for his atrocious behavior on the campaign trail.
On Friday, the wire service Reuters deliciously jumped on the Bill Bashing Bandwagon.
In an article titled "Bill Clinton Again Wagging Finger, Raising Eyebrows," author Deborah Charles began with a mainstream media lede that would have been unimaginable a few months ago (emphasis added throughout):
The resurgence of the old Bill Clinton, flushing with anger and wagging his finger as he fights for his wife's presidential bid, has cast a shadow over her campaign and could mar his new image as a global statesman.
Need to go check that link to verify my veracity? I understand. I checked it thrice! But there's more:
On Friday, Hillary Clinton herself said her husband had told her he may have gone too far. "He said several times yesterday that maybe he got a little bit carried away," she told CBS's "Early Show."
[...]
For Americans the finger-wagging recalled Clinton's similar gesture when on television he furiously denied accusations -- later proved true -- of his having had sex with White House intern Monica Lewinsky when he was president.
Is that a pig I see outside my window soaring like an eagle across the horizon?

No kidding; that's almost freaky...I can picture it!
Perhaps...
January 26, 2008 - 12:41 ET by heldmyw...the most delicious part of this is that even MSM dinosaurs are groggily becoming aware of the Clinton modus operandi.
It's an act, a scam, a fake, a fraud and at least a pair of shams built on a fetid history of lies, attacks and coverups of an embarassingly inept pair of liars.
Just a quick read through their history is enough to cause a sane person to wonder how the heck they have made it so far?
I hope that the jig is just about up, and the Cankles and Clenis Show is seeing the curtain closing.
They won't like it, but it's long overdue.
Heh.
January 26, 2008 - 15:03 ET by dervishBill's really hit the bottom now; even John Kerry is dissing him.
heldmyw,
January 26, 2008 - 15:25 ET by R D HelmI agree. I think this whole "Bubba meltdown" thing was contrived by the Clinton campaign specifically to keep Broom Hilda out of the spotlight as much as possible, as her debate performances have not been very good. As long as people are watching Bill, they will not be paying as much attention to Hillary, which is probably a good thing from their perspective.
I do have to wonder just how much of the criticism we hear coming from their fellow democrats, and their liberal MSM friends, is genuine?
Certainly not all of it.
None are so hopelessly enslaved as those who falsely believe they are free. -J.W. von Goethe
Dick Morris said pretty
January 26, 2008 - 15:56 ET by motherbeltDick Morris said pretty much the same thing last night on H&C.
That's why the Clintons don't care. Even if the MSM finally rouse themselves to comment on it, they don't care because they think it's working. They also think that despite the talk about how he's hurting her, he's not; he's actually helping. Not just because he's garnering the attention, but they actually think his tantrums are increasing her favorabitlity ratings.
Of course, those two things are probably intertwined...
Bill Clinton wanted to cement his legacy, but he currently looks like he's challenging Jimmy Carter for "most disgraceful ex-President.
Well, he probably figures he'll have time to fix his image once he gets HRC elected and everyone forgets about this.
The sad thing is, he's probably right.

January 26, 2008 - 22:44 ET by Scout FinchDon't you think there's some honest Democrats out there who see this as a tag-team dog and pony show? It's as corny as a bad Vaudeville act!
I agree with the people
January 26, 2008 - 12:51 ET by MidAmericaI agree with the people who say this is all contrived to make himself the story so nobody is scrutinizing hillary. He plays the tough cop and she is the little lady who cries.
Just this week I had a guy tell me he doesn't want to vote for hillary but will because he knows bill is there to help her when she doesn't know what to do.
You got that too?
January 26, 2008 - 13:13 ET by CrashI saw the nodding off in church video and thought, from what is Bill trying to divert attention for Hillary? Then it hit me, the last debate when Obama opened up a can of worms (exposure). The last thing the press wants to be reminded of is how much they despised the Clinton's behavior in their final week (pardons, stolen furniture & vandalism).
"Don't look at his finger ... it'll wag you into an entranced dog!"
