While reading about this stuff, I was reminded of an article a while back that dealt with CO2 sequestration. It showed that although the US was the leading producer of atmospheric CO2, it also (due to forests and agriculture) was one of the largest CO2 sinks. In fact, the US was one of the few countries with a negative "carbon footprint". Unfortunately I can't find that now. Anyone remember where that was?

Who cares if P.T. is lurking about?  He is a font of links to realclimate and little else.  I do not think even he realizes how narrow his references are.  Moreover, he doesn't even bigin to understand the prattle he repeats nor does he appreciate the great gulf between what this lying politician, Al Gore, has to say about the subject and what reputable, responsible science says about it.

He favored seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict; Lincoln did not, so Vallandigham was deported.

There were a great many prominent Northerners like Vallandigham who preferred peace and compromise over what became the bloodiest war in all of American history. Lincoln’s political strategy, carried out by the propaganda arm of the Republican Party known as the "Union League," was to spread the lie that all of these men were traitors and Confederate sympathizers. They were denigrated as "Copperheads," a form of snake in the grass. To make this point Vallandigham was ceremoniously escorted across the lines and handed over to a Confederate commander. The Confederates, however, wanted nothing to do with Vallandigham, nor he with them, so he fled to Canada.

I don't especially like the slant that the Union League was lying, but I didn't want to employ the selective editing that we see from the MSM every day. Al should be deprived of his citizenship, but then, I thought Jane Fonda should have been, too. Maybe that's just me.

Stop trying to resussitate your dead idea that AGW is not occurring. Deniers use: 1) discredited claims like CO2 leading warming to deny CO2 as the agent of the warming when well established physics says that CO2 absorbs energy radiated from Earth's surface. 2) discredited claims that climate models are failures when exactly the opposite has been demonstrated. 3) established scientists who minimize the human forcing on climate.

Increased CO2 absorbs more radiated energy, creating a forcing that increases as CO2 increases. Gore was basically correct, despite denialists claims to the contrary.

Good grief! this clown has obviously never been anywhere. I've spent over a decade working and living overseas. Some in Western Europe, the rest in Pacific Asia. The United States is one of the cleanest countries on the planet. Period. This crap about the US poluting the planet is ignorant drivel spouted by various kinds of losers who can't hack it in a free and competitive society so they latch onto anything that "proves" that this society is 'not worthy' (sounds a lot like Wayne's World). This then absolves them of their loser-ness. Anyone want to lay a bet this individual contributes to at least two redistributionist organizations?
