Although it's a metaphysical certitude American media will be jumping for joy about this event, United States citizens on both sides of the political aisle should be deeply embarrassed and ashamed about the disgraceful things former Vice President Al Gore said Thursday at the United Nations' climate change meeting in Bali.
It's one thing to make a movie based almost exclusively on junk science and well-documented falsehoods whilst traveling the world evoking hysteria you yourself are financially benefiting from.
However, it is something else altogether to attend an international meeting, with delegates from every country on the face of the planet present, and disparage the nation you used to serve (truly disgraceful video available here):
My own country, the United States is principally responsible for obstructing progress here in Bali. We all know that. But my country is not the only one that can take steps to ensure that we move forward from Bali with progress and with hope.
How about YOUR obstruction in 1997 when you were Vice President, Mr. Gore? Or have you forgotten (video available here):
We will not submit this [the Kyoto Protocol] for ratification until there`s meaningful participation by key developing nations.
You've conveniently forgotten that, haven't you Mr. Gore? Isn't this EXACTLY the same position America is taking today in Bali?
Sadly, it also seems a metaphysical certitude that when media members across the fruited plain report on Gore's speech Thursday, they, too, will ignore where the Global Warmingist-in-Chief stood when he was the second most powerful person in our nation.
Mr. Gore, you should be ashamed of yourself for grandstanding this way on an international stage pointing your finger at your own country when the administration you served in had exactly the same political stance as the current one.
And any media outlet that chooses not to be truthful about this tonight and tomorrow should similarly be ashamed of itself not only for allowing this charlatan to get away with it, but also for aiding and abetting his charade.

While reading about this stuff, I was reminded of an article a while back that dealt with CO2 sequestration. It showed that although the US was the leading producer of atmospheric CO2, it also (due to forests and agriculture) was one of the largest CO2 sinks. In fact, the US was one of the few countries with a negative "carbon footprint". Unfortunately I can't find that now. Anyone remember where that was?

Gore and others want to kill the Golden Goose
December 13, 2007 - 19:21 ET by ThisnThatThe problem with footprints, CO2 emissions, and other so-called factors is that they don't tell the whole story. The U.S. doesn't consume the lion's share of energy simply for its own purposes. We feed the world. We also protect democracies throughout the world. We provide medicine to those that can't create or afford their own. We, the U.S., do a hellofalot of good for this world. Because we are free, talented, and know how to use our resources.
If the U.N. wants to shut down the U.S., what are the unintended consequences? World famine? World disease? It's just like all the other socialist-driven schemes -- everyone gives according to his ability; and takes according to his needs. The U.N. and other countries are jealous -- and they think they can't do what we can do simply because we are unfairly using all the world's resources. They're wrong; they will kill the Golden Goose if we give them the chance.
It's people like Gore who are trying to give them exactly that chance.

Deportation
December 13, 2007 - 20:59 ET by FranksamI just stole this from someone else, because I couldn't remember the name of the guy either.
That’s exactly what happened to the most outspoken member of the Democratic Party in Lincoln’s day, Ohio Congressman Clement L. Vallandigham. Congressman Vallandigham had protested vehemently on the floor of the House of Representatives against Lincoln’s suspension of Habeas Corpus and his trashing of much of the rest of the Constitution. He was also a vociferous opponent of Lincoln’s high-tariff policy and his adoption of an income tax. He favored seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict; Lincoln did not, so Vallandigham was deported.
There were a great many prominent Northerners like Vallandigham who preferred peace and compromise over what became the bloodiest war in all of American history. Lincoln’s political strategy, carried out by the propaganda arm of the Republican Party known as the "Union League," was to spread the lie that all of these men were traitors and Confederate sympathizers. They were denigrated as "Copperheads," a form of snake in the grass. To make this point Vallandigham was ceremoniously escorted across the lines and handed over to a Confederate commander. The Confederates, however, wanted nothing to do with Vallandigham, nor he with them, so he fled to Canada.
I don't especially like the slant that the Union League was lying, but I didn't want to employ the selective editing that we see from the MSM every day. Al should be deprived of his citizenship, but then, I thought Jane Fonda should have been, too. Maybe that's just me.
Liberals don't care what you do, as long as it's mandatory. -Franksam

Al Gore only has a B.A. in Government (no higher degree achieved, no science degrees)
The Education of Al Gore (The Washington Times)
"Mr. Gore's high school performance on the college board achievement tests in physics (488 out of 800 "terrible," St. Albans retired teacher and assistant headmaster John Davis told The Post) and chemistry (519 out of 800 "He didn't do too well in chemistry," Mr. Davis observed) suggests that Mr. Gore would have trouble with science for the rest of his life. At Harvard and Vanderbilt, Mr. Gore continued bumbling along.
As a Harvard sophomore, scholar Al "earned" a D in Natural Sciences 6 in a course presciently named "Man's Place in Nature." That was the year he evidently spent more time smoking cannabis than studying its place among other plants within the ecosystem. His senior year, Mr. Gore
received a C+ in Natural Sciences 118.
At Vanderbilt divinity school, Mr. Gore took a course in theology and natural science. The assigned readings included the apocalyptic, and widely discredited "Limits to Growth," which formed much of the foundation for "Earth in the Balance." It is said that Mr. Gore failed to hand in his book report on time. Thus, his incomplete grade turned into an F, one of five Fs Mr. Gore received at divinity school, which may well be a worldwide record."

December 13, 2007 - 22:32 ET by professor truthStop trying to resussitate your dead idea that AGW is not occurring. Deniers use: 1) discredited claims like CO2 leading warming to deny CO2 as the agent of the warming when well established physics says that CO2 absorbs energy radiated from Earth's surface. 2) discredited claims that climate models are failures when exactly the opposite has been demonstrated. 3) established scientists who minimize the human forcing on climate.
Increased CO2 absorbs more radiated energy, creating a forcing that increases as CO2 increases. Gore was basically correct, despite denialists claims to the contrary.

For every peer reviewed paper denialists serve up, AGW scientists serve up many more. Real climate . org must be too much for a denialist like you to get embarrassed by. I haven't read your denial posts there! I wonder why? Popular Tech vs Gavin Schmidt, hmmmmm , I wonder who would prevail in a scientific debate?? Tough one to answer. Yep, that's reliable science for you, global warming style. Throw enough crap against a wall, and eventually, some of it will stick. Then it's "look at me, I got it right".
Yeah, models are so great, they can't even predict the path of a hurricane 2 days from landfall, yet global warming idiots with no historical reference believe crystal ball predictions of gloom and doom viewed through a computer monitor about a point in time 100 years into the future simply cannot be wrong.
Actually, until climate
December 14, 2007 - 00:19 ET by RESTLESS 1Actually, until climate models can predict into the future for 100 years or more, and not show climate changes outside the realm of possibility, then none are accurate, and I will not consider them as evidence.

Computer Models prove nothing. I am so sick of your repitition of lies about computer models. Any person who is worried based on computer models is a fool and a proven computer illiterate. People like you make me tons of money while I fix all your computer problems because you cannot comprehend how they work. It is beyond laughable that this many absolute suckers exist. Do you have any remote concept of how much more I understand about computer than you do?

We can make a computer do anything! Including screw up! <lol> I'm sure PT does not know what "predicting the past" means. All those idiot models cannot 'predict the past' except by random chance. Not one. In addition, the actual IPCC research data did NOT support AGW. The inconvenient info was redacted from the report and language inserted by a politician stating AGW when the original data did not support it. THAT is a proven fact.

Global Warming has NOTHING to do with Pollution:
"CO2 for different people has different attractions. After all, what is it? - it’s not a pollutant, it’s a product of every living creature’s breathing, it’s the product of all plant respiration, it is essential for plant life and photosynthesis, it’s a product of all industrial burning, it’s a product of driving – I mean, if you ever wanted a leverage point to control everything from exhalation to driving, this would be a dream. So it has a kind of fundamental attractiveness to bureaucratic mentality." -Richard S. Lindzen Ph.D. Professor of Meteorology MIT
The Kyoto Protocol is a treaty to regulate 'Greenhouse Gases' only:
- Carbon dioxide (CO2)
- Methane (CH4)
- Nitrous oxide (N2O) (Laughing Gas, Nitrous, NOS)
- Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs)
- Perfluorocarbons (PFCs)
- Sulphur hexafluoride (SF6)
Car Exhaust consists of:
Harmless:
- Carbon dioxide (CO2)
- Nitrogen (N2)
- Water vapor (H2O)
Some Pollutants:
- Carbon monoxide (CO) *
- Hydrocarbons or Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) *
- Nitric oxide (NO) *
- Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) *
- Particulate matter (PM-10) *
- Sulfur dioxide (SO2) *
* Your car's catalytic converter removes about 95% of these pollutants.
Smog consists of:
- Ozone (O3) * (formed from the photochemical reaction of Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) + Hydrocarbons)
- Particulate matter (PM-10) *
- Sulfur dioxide (SO2) *
* Air Pollution is already regulated in the: 1970 Clean Air Act (Amended: 1977, 1990)
* Water Pollution is already regulated in the Federal Water Pollution Control Act (Amended: Clean Water Act of 1977, Water Quality Act of 1987)
