Will Gore Be Time’s ‘Person of the Year?’

How could Global Warmingist-in-Chief Al Gore best finish a year in which he won an Academy Award, an Emmy, and a Nobel Peace Prize?

How about being named Time magazine's "Person of the Year?"

Wouldn't that be special?

Well, according to Jon Friedman at Market Watch, Gore is a shoo-in (emphasis added throughout):

Last week, Time magazine held a lunch and panel talk to discuss possibilities for its Person of the Year issue. Chris DeWolfe, co-creator of My Space.com, eloquently spoke in support of Gore. NBC anchor Brian Williams suggested Mother Earth (honestly!), while Whoopi Goldberg, the actress and "The View" co-host, preferred the concept of "green." Aside from the tree-huggers on the dais, author/activist Ayaan Hirsi Ali selected French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Meanwhile, former Virginia Sen. George Allen wanted Time to pick Army Gen. David Petraeus.

Interestingly, Friedman is by no means a Gore sycophant as evidenced by his marvelous conclusion:

Still, Time is blowing it by confining the award to Person of the Year. I believe it should be expanded to embrace Man of the Year, Woman of the Year and Idea of the Year.

Time would get even more publicity, though admittedly, fewer arguments over the choices might ensue if there were three winners instead of only one.

Mostly, having multiple awards would enable the magazine to honor deserving winners.

Maybe Al Gore will make the same suggestion when he accepts his Person of the Year prize.

I'm verklempt. Talk amongst yourselves.
