Media’s New Motto: All Societal Problems Caused by Global Warming

As America ends a second consecutive below-average hurricane season since Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" incorrectly forecast greater and stronger tropical storms due to global warming, it's become apparent that media are trying new strategies to scare the public into believing the hysteria.

Last week, the game plan was to blame the California wildfires on climate change. This week, it's health problems such as heart attacks, strokes, and respiratory diseases.

I kid you not.

As hysterically reported by Australia's Herald Sun (emphasis added):

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

Instances of obesity, food poisoning, and mosquito-borne diseases such as the deadly Ross River fever are also likely to rise as climate change raises average and extreme temperatures.

The Healthy Planet, Places and People report released yesterday, says mental health in rural areas is also likely to suffer from more frequent and more intense droughts.

Commissioned by Research Australia, the report predicts deaths from heart attacks, strokes and respiratory diseases, triggered by an increase in heatwaves, could triple by 2050.

Conspicuously absent from the report was how many fewer cold-related deaths would occur by 2050 if Australia warmed. Why do you think that is?

Regardless of the answer, the mission is clear: every problem currently facing the planet gets worse if temperatures rise. Does that mean all of these problems diminish if temperatures decline?

Certainly not according to a June 24, 1974 Time magazine article (emphasis added):

But there is a peril more immediate than the prospect of another ice age. Even if temperature and rainfall patterns change only slightly in the near future in one or more of the three major grain-exporting countries-the U.S., Canada and Australia -global food stores would be sharply reduced. University of Toronto Climatologist Kenneth Hare, a former president of the Royal Meteorological Society, believes that the continuing drought and the recent failure of the Russian harvest gave the world a grim premonition of what might happen. Warns Hare: "I don't believe that the world's present population is sustainable if there are more than three years like 1972 in a row."

As such, it appears that whether the planet warms or cools, we're all doomed.

Pass me the beer nuts.

The media

When it comes to the media, ignorance knows no boundaries.

NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal"

The debate is over: we

The debate is over: we can't satirize these Global Warming fanatics. There's nothing we could come up with that they say it doesn't cause.

Now, we can satirize a well-known liberal, named after a park in San Diego, who often visits here. "Did they really say all societal problems are caused by global warming, or are you just saying they do?".

Noel, add children's health to your panic-inducing list

Yesterday, USA Today reported that the American Academy of Pediatrics joined the attempt to induce panic by claiming that Global Warming "may" put kids at greater risk than adults.  Of course, Pediatric Docs will now feel obliged to instill fear in parents.

Global Warming May Hit Kids Harder, Pediatrics Group Says

Parental Aid

Settle down and go to sleep kids or Global Warming will get you!

Humans need warmth. We

Humans need warmth.

We should embrace Global Warming.

No complaints here up

No complaints here up north:)

This morning the radio

This morning the radio jocks were commenting on the claims by Jahdi websites that they caused the CA fires by setting them not AGW.  So in liberal speak it's Bush's fault no matter if it is AGW or the GWOT.

Hanlon's Razor: Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity. dscott's corollary: The line between malice and stupidity is called depraved indifference.

My problems

I thought all my problems whre my fault and my responsibility. I am relieved to know that I can scapegoat Global Warming. This realy helps my self esteem to be able to blame it on something else. sarc-off

You hit a strong chord

You hit a strong chord there; we live in a society where everyday more and more people are blaming others for their problems/ailments etc.  This further confirms we live in a no responsibility society.  How sad.

The Laws of Global Warming

First Law of Global Warming--Thou shall blame all calamities and ideological nemesis of the New Federalists on Global Warming.

Second Law of Global Warming--Thou shall not practice any science that questions or denies Global Warming. Global Warming is great and Al Gore is it's Messenger.

New?

Noel:

The only exception I take with your post is the use of the word New?  I thought this had been the M.O. for a long time!!

Excuse me now, I have a headache.  Damn Global Warming.

*Argue for your limitations and sure enough you will achieve them.

San Diego

In the Union Tribune this morning was a front page story titled: Experts: Wildefires only going to worsen - Many blame global warming. In this article they managed to tie in Polar Bears, drought, Santa Ana winds that are maybe all due to global warming and man made CO2. At no point in the article was mentioned that this area is a desert. No mention of the history of fires in San Diego before 1960. No mention of over population. They spoke about how much more it costs now to fight fires but did not use inflation adjusted dollar amounts.

I am not going to take this crap anymore. I hope all of you write letters to the editor when you see crap like this. Also, visit www.icecap.us for the real information on this subject.

I am heading down to the zoo just to make sure the Polar Bears are O.K.

As "tom" over at The Reference Frame once posted (and I'll never forget):

"The only thing not attributed to global warming is critical thinking"

AGW is a running joke in our house:

"Lost my keys; must be global warming."

"Nothing on TV tonight; must be global warming"

"Dog's thrown up green stuff; must be global warming"

"There's mold on my jalapenos; must be global warming"

The big list

I assume many newsbusters readers are familiar with the warmlist, a complete list of things caused by global warming.

I first encountered this site a couple years ago when there were barely 100 items on the list.  Now, it must be approaching 500.

Noel's headline is absolutely correct.

 - Consensus is what you look for when you don’t have the facts -

I hadn't seen that list before...THANKS!

Funny thing, I was just recently wondering if such a list existed, and if not, that one should be started.

I actually have at least one item that doesn't seem to be on the list, and I will send it over.

Dr. Ralph, May I pass

Dr. Ralph,

May I pass your tag;

"Consensus is what you look for when you don’t have the facts"

on to Dr. Gore, it appears (to me as though) he could use such simple logic?

"Too bad Ignorance isn't painful..."
