NYT’s Paul Krugman Calls Republicans Racists

I wonder how many NewsBusters readers knew they were racist.

After all, if the New York Times publishes a column saying that we are, it's got to be so given that it is the paper of record in this country, correct?

Ironically, it does seem fitting days after the civil rights protests in Jena, Louisiana, that one of the Times' leading columnists would point fingers at the Party largely responsible for getting civil rights laws passed four decades ago.

Yet, that didn't stop the Times' Paul Krugman, as facts never seem to matter whenever he puts his fingers on a keyboard. As such, for those that can stomach it, here were the lowlights of his "Politics in Black and White" (emphasis added throughout):

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

Consider voting in last year's Congressional elections. Republicans, as President Bush conceded, received a "thumping," with almost every major demographic group turning against them. The one big exception was Southern whites, 62 percent of whom voted Republican in House races.

And yes, Southern white exceptionalism is about race, much more than it is about moral values, religion, support for the military or other explanations sometimes offered. There's a large statistical literature on the subject, whose conclusion is summed up by the political scientist Thomas F. Schaller in his book "Whistling Past Dixie": "Despite the best efforts of Republican spinmeisters to depict American conservatism as a nonracial phenomenon, the partisan impact of racial attitudes in the South is stronger today than in the past."

Here, as is typical for this shameless pol, Krugman ignored some of the other pertinent statistics from the 2006 elections. After all, if 62 percent of Southern whites voting for Republicans proves racism, what does 89 percent of blacks around the country voting for Democrats indicate?

Frankly, as it pertains to race, this statistic is by far the most skewed towards one Party. What does that say, Mr. Krugman?

Of course, like any shameless pol, Krugman ignored all data that might controvert or complicate the nonsense he was spewing as he continued his racist finger-pointing:

Republican politicians, who understand quite well that the G.O.P.'s national success since the 1970s owes everything to the partisan switch of Southern whites, have tacitly acknowledged this reality. Since the days of Gerald Ford, just about every Republican presidential campaign has included some symbolic gesture of approval for good old-fashioned racism.

Thus Ronald Reagan, who began his political career by campaigning against California's Fair Housing Act, started his 1980 campaign with a speech supporting states' rights delivered just outside Philadelphia, Miss., where three civil rights workers were murdered. In 2000, Mr. Bush made a pilgrimage to Bob Jones University, famed at the time for its ban on interracial dating.

Frankly, I can't read any more. This man is so much a part of the problem in this country that I refuse to reprint another word of this detritus.

However, coming exactly two weeks after the Times published MoveOn's disgraceful "General Betray Us" ad, conservatives around the country better be prepared for these kinds of attacks during this election cycle.

America's press want a Democrat in the White House, and they're willing to say anything to accomplish that goal, including calling all of us racists!

Noel, all of us here know

Noel, all of us here know we are racists. After all, tumbler told us so many times.

As for the Jena 6, from all my reading of what happened down there, I've never been able to determine: was the victim of the beating responsible in any way for any of the nooses in the "white tree"? If he was, I could understand the animosity of the black kids toward him. That still would not exuse the criminal acts of the little hoodlums.

As for Krugman, he is a liberal and a fool. What else can you expect from him? That he is a liberal is self evident. Anyone who advocates marxist policies as he has is a fool.

"A communist is someone who reads Marx. An anti-communist is someone who understands Marx." Ronald Reagan

"conservatives around the

"conservatives around the country better be prepared for these kinds of attacks during this election cycle."

This election cycle? The donks throw out the "Republicans are racists" card in EVERY election cycle.

This is the MSM - this is

This is the MSM - this is what they do...lying bastards...

Are these Republican outfits: NAACP, BET, EBONY, etc

Who is always celebrating the "first black _________" or the "first Asian _________" or the "first hispanic _________?"

Most don't want equality!

In my honest opinion, although the say they do, many of the black community in this country don’t truly want equality. They want to remain isolated in their own “culture”. Their mode of “getting ahead” is by playing the race card. This desire is continually fueled by the likes of Jackson and Sharpton.

This is by contrast of the methods employed by previous generations of immigrants from Ireland, Italy, etc. My great grandfather was an Italian immigrant who like to continue to make wine when he came to America. He would buy the grapes in their typical wooden grape crates. He would burn them in his backyard rather than put them at the curb to be picked up as trash. Why? Because he was trying so hard to assimilate into his new country that he was afraid that the nationhood would frown upon an “old world tradition”.

See the difference?

As additional support to this notion, I point to Bill Cosby has tried to speak out on similar topics and was all but ostracized by the black leaders of this country.

And if this makes me a racist, as I am sure some will believe, then so be it.

Jimbo says - "There is a fine line between freedom of speech and treason"

divide and

divide and conquer;

That's their goal... That's why when they call us Racist, Divisive people, we should point out that we call everyone legally here, Americans, and don't divide them up, calling them "where our ancestors came from" - Americans.

Slavery is not over - yet...

There are no Republicans stopping minorities from joining the RNC - in fact we've been busting our ass to cater to them - so who's stopping them from joining the conservative movement? Gee, I wonder...

It would have to be the racist Democrats who still control them - they are still slaves - except the plantation is now the government and welfare, and instead of picking cotton they pick Democrat votes at election time - which mainly profits the plantation...

Mexicans also work on the plantation now and - still pick a ton of fruit - the Dems get a two-fer there...

Lincoln was a good start - but we still have slavery yet to abolish...

You seem to miss the point

I think the "point" of celebrating the "first" black, Asian or "whatever" is the fact that it IS the first! And that ususally the reason that someone IS the first, is because others have been PREVENTED by racism from attaining those heights! Duh! How is that lost on you? If Shrillary is elected wouldn't she be the "First" woman president?  Or should we just ignore that because after all, women have technically been "equal" in our society for a long time?

And as for "LYING", while I find Friedman to be disgusting, didn't Bush, McCain and other conservatives bow down at Bob Jones' racist altar? Weren't you people the one's decrying liberals kneeling at the altar of Planned Parenthood or the Black Caucus? Didn't these conservatives indeed go to Bob Jones U? And didn't they have a policy forbidding interracial dating? As a GROWN man, certainly past the age of "the indiscretions of youth", did not Mitt Romney belong to a racist group which asserted that Blacks couldn't go to HEAVEN! Talk about exclusion! You call yourself "truthmonger" but you miss so much of it that it's laughable! Look at the conservative attitudes towards race as expressed by FOXNEWS! Mark Furhman is RACIST that expressed on tape that he wanted to put all Black people in a PILE AND BURN THEM. These tapes were made available after he lied on the witness stand in the "case of the century"! To this day Sean Hannity has no problem using Furhman, a racist so vile that he requested MEDICAL LEAVE from both the Marines AND later Police Dept, because he couldn't stand working with all the "N*GGERS and the S*ICS" (latino slur) and now he's HANNITY'S GO TO GUY for all things legal! Didn't the racists in the south become Republicans or are you people going to deny history as well? Didn't conservatives defend Trent Lott's vile comments, hearkening wistfully to a bygone era that had even been repudiated by Thurman himself?

You people are the LAST people to understand anything about race. Look at how you try to "separate" the hanging of the NOOSES from anything that came after that, claiming that you could "understand" if the white kid that was beaten actually "hung" the noose but only then. What about the climate of fear and intimidation caused by the nooses? What about all the white kids who luxuriated under the shade of the racist tree? Are they blameless? Now, technically there's no crime in sitting under a tree, if you want to argue like a stupid liberal that is. But if you're being honest, you'd acknowledge that the hanging of nooses has more often preceded murder than not. If I were Black and someone hung a noose on a tree, ANYONE who was comfy sittin' under that tree would be my ENEMY. Period. Whether they hung the nooses or not!

So your claim is the this guy who got beat up 3 months after the incident, was sitting under the very same tree with the nooses?????   And that is the rationale to beat the crap out of the guy, because of his race sitting under some tree and no other reason????  Who is racist here?  That would be you.  Hmmm, does this mean everytime a Black person kills a White person, that Whites would be justified in lynching the first Black person they meet walking on the street???  You're insane!!!!  We reject the politics of hate you espouse!!!

Folks a little fact checking here, where was this "white" person when he got beat up by 6 Black persons?????  Was he sitting under a tree, somehow I get the feeling an assertion is being made here.

There is no justification you can possibly give us to rationalize why a person should be arbitrarily selected for a beating by a group of people just because what they were born.  That is the essence of racism and the fact you rationalized it means you are a racist inciting hatred with your hate speech!!!!

dscott's postulate:  The degree to which someone exaggerates or deceives is inversely proportional to the merit of the advocated position.

wow you're dense

"There is no justification you can possibly give us to rationalize why a person should be arbitrarily selected for a beating by a group of people just because what they were born. "

Wow. You're dense. Your waiflike response indicates a serious separation from reality, medication may be required! When you set up a racial CLIMATE where people are afraid for their LIVES, unless you think NOOSES are akin to a "welcome mat",  you have created a "war zone" and in war, "sh*t happens".  Right now, you people are crowing about our soldiers who are killing people on the field of Battle. People who they've never met. People who never threatened them PERSONALLY, although they obviously are part of a dangerous ideology and deserve the killing they receive, I'm talking about the personal nature of the threat they represent, of course. You can "understand" when soldiers kill families because of their affiliation and support of terrorists, yet every racist affiliator must recieve the benefit of the doubt in painstaking detail, where reality is separated from the discussion. To act as if an ACT, a vile reprehensible act, can be separated from ANYTHING that happens after that is to be painfully stupid. The cease fire with Iraq was used as a justification for the "resumption of hostilities", which would be the mess we are currently embroiled in. The cease fire took place more than a DECADE before the current war in Iraq. Three months for a butt whoopin', sounds about right.

War zone???  You are

War zone???  You are behind the times, segregation ended decades ago Rip Van Winkle.  But thanks for confirming you're a racist, inciting race hatred empowered by the false self righteousness of liberals. By definition, anyone who bases their hatred on race is a racist and you meet that defintion.  You are no better than a Klanner with your incitig of race hatred.  The fact you talk to us as though we somehow approve of nooses hanging from a tree or truck speaks to your racism.  You sick sad little people still trying to conjure up the 1950s and 60s to get attention to reignite your cause is pathetic.

I hope you keep it up, everytime you utter your racist behavior toward any group it turns off more of the public from your cause.  Please be my guest, get on Youtube and the public air waves to run your sick mouth, it just alienates more of the middle class and moderates.  We especially love the race baiters Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, it makes our job so much easier to point out why the race based victimology is so over.  Please shout on the house tops that you are a victim of whitey.  Please, please shout loudly and march on the Capitol for the Jena 6, when you do more moderates will become energized to become active right wingers.

Now you know why we respect people like Condi Rice, Alan Keyes, Rev Peterson and JC Watts.

This going to be fun.

I think the "point" of celebrating the "first" black, Asian or "whatever" is the fact that it IS the first!

"Celebrate," huh?  So just how was that party you threw when Condoleezza Rice go appointed?  Or didn't that "count?

"What about the climate of fear and intimidation caused by the nooses?

I'm sure those six fellas felt mighty intimidated beating that other guy unconscious.

yeppers

" I'm sure those six fellas felt mighty intimidated beating that other guy unconscious."

That would be the reason said beating occurred. Didn't you people say that because of the THREAT Saddam represented, we were going to PRE-EMPTIVELY  take his butt out? Because you were intimidated by his mere presence? Hoisted by your own petard, I'd say!

In the future try applying your "logic" for killing people,  locally, before you end up sounding ridiculous, by objecting to something you are clearly , FOR.

 That would be the reason

That would be the reason said beating occurred.

Again, a group of thugs took aggresive action, because they were "intimidated?"  I'm sure that would fly on Planet KOS, but here on Earth, we usually run away if we are "intimidated."

OK, so... you are are equating this incident with the War on Islamic Facism, specifically, the front in Iraq?  Wow, that's quite a trip to the center of the shrubbery maze.  Congrats, now go back to KOS tell them how brilliant you are.

"Climate of intimidation" - talk about ridiculous.

BTW, please explain what you mean by "you people," if you don't mind.

You lose, Buckwheat

The minute you typed "you people"....you lost the argument.

LMAO.

And for any of my friends here....I'll be happy to explain the significance of "You Lose, Buckwheat".....it's a great story!

Did I tell you this one Pesky?

It's pretty funny.  An oldie, but a goodie.

Particularly when dealing with a racist like Keith.

He seems to be avoiding me like the plague, though.  Hmmmm.

I'll tell you the Buckwheat story sometime.  It's a riot.

Will I qualify for the title

Will I qualify for the title as a racist: I'm a conservative Asian-American. I hate people who take money from me and my family in the name of welfare. I hate to see able-bodied people lining up for dole-out money in the name of welfare. I hate affirmative action in the name of race, instead of qualification. Then, I would take the label.

why yes that makes you

why yes that makes you racist!

these "southern whites" this Krugman is talking about (southern whites - who's racist again?) - this particular culture began with the KKK - A DEMOCRAT INVENTION IN RESPONSE TO LINCOLN FREEING THEIR SLAVES and that is history forever and no changing it...

Just like Reagan they'd still be Democrats today if the Dems hadn't become the party of abortion and gay marriage.

The Republican party today is what the Dems used to be - just listen to a speech by JFK...tax cuts, strong military, etc...

YES YOU ARE A RACIST

"I hate people who take money from me and my family in the name of welfare. I hate to see able-bodied people lining up for dole-out money in the name of welfare."

WHO THE HECK WAS TALKING ABOUT WELFARE??! Yes you are a racist my friend and the conclusions you so hastily jump to PROVE THAT! No one on this ENTIRE THREAD was talking about welfare, but it's the first thing to creep out of your mouth! Do the farm subsidies given to Whites, where they recieve money for NOT working,  bother you as well? Somehow I think not.

Never mind.

Never mind.

"Jena 6"

To get a good understanding of the story, that is not being told, read Jason Whitlock's article, in the Kansas City Star.  He talks about the attack, the "all-white" jury, his attorney, his father, and how the evil white town of Jena had looked out for one of the defendants for most of his life.  It is a good read, and points out a lot of the lies being told.

As to Republicans not reaching out minorities, or entering hostile environments for debate, first the democrats will not go on Fox News, and second, Republicans look out for the person, not the race.  It is not about what is good for one group over another, it is about what is best for everybody.  If you want a president who will pander to each and every group and promise to give more of your money away, watch the Democratic debate circuit and vote that way.

Sure trot out your resident

Sure trot out your resident self hating negro! He doesn't know anymore about what went on down there than YOU do! He just intreprets the facts in a way that you like, that's all. He, like you, have probably never had to fight for your life, or had your life threatened in any appreciable way. That's usually the case with armchair Q.B's .  Well I have, my friend. The reality is that if you're living in an area and "NOOSES" start hanging from TREES, war has been declared. Period. And it's MORE justification for ANYTHING that happens after that, than you had to go into IRAQ, or did Saddam threaten to "hang" this country?

dude... in with the good

dude... in with the good air... out with the bad...

Ah! Another new definition

Ah! Another new definition for the Democrat Newspeak English Dictionary.

Self-hating Negro (n) Any American of African descent who does not toe the "blacks as victims" and the "blacks are never criminals" lines as promulgated by American marxist/socialist "progressives".

"A communist is someone who reads Marx. An anti-communist is someone who understands Marx." Ronald Reagan

I admit that I'm a racist -

I admit that I'm a racist - when someone throws their race in my face. With those notable exceptions, I'm consistently color-blind. I don't care what color your skin is, where you're from, or what religion you practice. Just exhibit the simple courtesy of not forcing any of those issues on me. (Actually, I'm not at all racist, as by definition, a racist thinks they're superior because of their race. I've never had that kind of mental deficiency)...

As for Krugman's claims of racism, and besides those rebuttals listed in Noel's blog, what about Marion Barry's re-election after his little disgrace? Or Nagin's re-election after he caused such hardship and misery to his constituents? Or Charlie Rangle? Or so many more pols elected simply on the basis of their skin color? When will people realize that perhaps such a decision may be warranted the first time for some perceived chance at a version of a "fair shake" at representation, after their representative screws them for several years, putting them back in office is simply beyond stupid?

I'm sorry, but if any single party is racist, it's the 'Crats. But the people making them racist are the very ones they're screwing. Makes you go hmmm...

The Closed Mind Erects Strong Barriers

I have always thought Paul

I have always thought Paul Krugman was a jerk, so his latest does not surprise me. However, I am getting sick and tired of being called a racist.

My parents raised me to respect all colors and all races and I did the same with my kids. Every Conservative I know has nothing but respect for other races. This does not follow the liberal talking points and I for one am damn proud of it. They can accuse all they want but they are dead wrong. I AM NOT A RACIST!

ct, that is how they change the subject. Every time a conservative opens his mouth, he ends up having to "prove" that he is not a racist. And no proof is good enough. They believe Republicans are only nice to black people to hide the fact that they hate them.(talk about a paradox!)

Yes, Krugman is a functional

Yes, Krugman is a functional idiot, but you misunderstand his accusation, I believe.

What he is saying is that if you DON'T believe in his cherised ideals of elevating or compensating one "disadvantaged" race, as he sees it (or as he would say...the reality of it, not anyone's opinion) over another, then that mere fact makes you racist.

I do not believe that he has the same definition of "racist". Because you and I see the word racist and think that it means to all what it means to us; belief in a superior or inferior race. Krugman does not see it that way. From what I can gather from his rantings, he thinks that anyone who does not advocate social corrections (via goverment largesse) of real or perceived injustices, no matter how slight or distant in memory, IS A RACIST.

The GOP ought to call this

The GOP ought to call this guy out.

The main reason Blacks vote 90% Democrat is that they hear this kind of crap in the media and from their "leaders" like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton... two people who apparently think that it is the right of every Black person to commit crimes against whitey!

THey hear this crap, AND the GOP says nothing.  So the average disinterested Black citizen figures the accusation must be true.

 I reiterate an earlier

I reiterate an earlier post of mine...we (conservatives) do not need to court the black vote. It has to be disheartening that 98% of your vote consistently goes to the losing candidate.

However, the Republicans do not need the black vote but want it.  The Dems do not want the black vote but need it.  The last thing Liberals ever want to do in life is associate with minorities or the middle class.  Remember, they are elitist to the very core.

How big is the black enclave in Malibu..how about the upper West side of Manhattan? These are Liberal bastions.

The very thought of living with the middle class would sicken these Ultra Leftist..these people are super rich..for the middle class my left foot...it would be laughable if it were not so.  So Keith,  defend the left with all your might..but when you're looking for TRUE racist,  look no further than the funders of everything the Dems stand for.  Be intellectually honest with yourself..and see the true light.. or not, I don't care, but I know in which party the true hypocrisy resides.

Thank you, Noel, for wading through this sludge, so that we don't have to. My first thought was to read your synopsis, instead of wading through the whole thing. And then I couldn't even get through all of that.

I don't even know what to say about it. It is hopeless.

Looks like the new DNC

Looks like the new DNC talking points are out and everyone needs to jump in and label Republicans racist.  Nevermind facts or debating issues on merit, no lets go to name calling.  Uh oh, headline just in - Free Thinker calls Krugman an Intellectually Bankrupt Hate Mongering Idiot.

It’s all part of the DNC

It’s all part of the DNC Presidential election strategy. In my opinion, the DNC has already conceded the nomination to Hillary (with Obama as a heavily favored VP running mate). They know that while people are saying they want change today, when the election comes, more of Hillary’s true colors will be showing, the past scams will be resurfaced, the ideal of Bill Back in the White House will be a more realistic possibility in people’s minds, the likelihood of more good news from Iraq, a surging economy, etc.etc. etc. As such, I don’t think that as many of the moderates as they are hoping for will be able to pull the Clinton lever in the poling booth, or may just not vote at all. As such, they are going to need an historic turnout from their ultra liberal base, as well as tremendous support from the minority population in this country if they want to have a chance of winning (hence the Obama running mate). They are simply planting the Republican racist seed now, with the hopes of harvesting the fruit around election time.

http://encarta.msn.com/encnet/refpages/RefMedia.aspx?refid=461543499&artrefid=761557136&sec=-1&pn=1

I
bet that just screws up that “only the south is racist” theory.

Can
you say KKK around Boston??

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,913476,00.html

Today
the Boston Public Schools are 86% African American and Hispanic. According to
the 2000 census, Boston's white population is 54.48%, whereas Boston's black
and Hispanic populations together total 39.77%

So
there you have it. There is racism where ever you go.

The
best we can do is try to not be racist.

As I
have said before, my best friend is black and we spent the better part of a
week fishing about a month ago, and was in my wedding. My wife’s best friend is
back and was her maid of honor at our wedding.. So, don’t tell anyone that I’m
a Republican… they will kick me out of the club.

Don't Beleive it!

Those things never actually happened or were blown way out of proportion by a vast right wing conspiracy which was aided and abetted by Fox news.

Republicans ARE racists. Don’t believe everything you sear and hear, even if you happen to see and hear it with your own eyes and ears!!

Jimbo says - "There is a fine line between freedom of speech and treason"

Racist, so what?

What's wrong with being a racist?

I am an American who sees the degradation of our culture and it hurts me personally.  I believe that legalized and natural born citizens alike should conform to our melting pot and stop trying to propagate a counter culture.  I embrace all those who do so, regardless of their color. I want to see our culture and country preserved the way it was founded.  If that makes me a racist, so be it.

Call me what you want behind my back, but you'd better be careful how you express it to my face!

Forget 911, I dial 9MM.

I’m with you. Look we

I’m with you. Look we don’t care about color. If you come
here legally, just become Americans, not African Americans, or Irish Americans,
or Latino Americans. Just Americans.

I don’t do 911 its more like 9-.40 or 9-oo buck.

FINALLY! Someone who admits

FINALLY! Someone who admits the filth that's in his heart! I bet he thinks he's a "Christian" too!

  1. 1 John 2:11
But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
1 John 2:10-12 (in Context) 1 John 2 (Whole Chapter)
  2. 1 John 3:15
Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
1 John 3:14-16 (in Context) 1 John 3 (Whole Chapter)
  3. 1 John 4:20
If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

Food for thought my racist friend, food for thought.

Congratulations, Keith.

Congratulations, Keith. The first step in dealing with a problem is acknowledging the problem exists, as you have just done with the above post. Now, when you get the hate, racism, self-righteousness, etc. out of your heart, can post a decent argument for your position and can answer the questions you dodged, come back and see us.

The only problem with your argument is that it proves THEIR argument!  Dude. Who the heck said that white people were only racist in the SOUTH? I believe the contention of the "race baiters" is that MOST of you are racist. A contention your plethora of links, seems to bear out! ROFLMAO

MOST of whom are racist?

MOST of whom are racist?  Seems to me that most if not all racists come from the left.

Riots

usa4freedom,

You left out Newark, NJ in 1967.

How many logical fallacies were committed here?

The chief offense against logic is the idea that since 62% of Southern whites voted conservative, conservatism must reflect the qualities that Krugman associates with Southern whites. That’s the fallacy of composition, which means that you attribute qualities to the whole based on attributes of the members … not even mentioning the insult that all Southern whites must be racist. I'm conservative, and I was born and raised in Philadelphia ... so I must be racist because ... why?

Krugman cites Thomas Schaller: “Despite the best efforts of Republican spinmeisters to depict American conservatism as a nonracial phenomenon, the partisan impact of racial attitudes in the South is stronger today than in the past.” I don’t know about you, but I can’t see too many non-partisan “studies” using the phrase “Republican spinmeisters.” And trying to cover the prejudice by claiming that there’s a “large statistical literature” on the subject is laughable, especially when Schaller’s literature is the best you can cite (the subtitle of Schaller’s book is ‘How Democrats Can Win Without the South.’ So much for reaching out to other sides, eh?). No one falls for the idea that statistics proves that conservatives are racist, except for liberals who already believe it and will accept any numbers as evidence.

Krugman wants to wrap his prejudice in ‘science,’ but in so doing, he proves how little science he actually knows.

Enemy Thine

You have to understand that Krugman and his ilk have determined, and rightly so, that we are the ones who have blocked the liberal's coronation on the national stage. It hurts; it stings; it BURNS!

Krugman, as is his custom, is just using the Jena 6 issue as a  moment of Kairos, or a timely opportunity, to slam his chosen enemy.

What Mr. Krugman does not and will never understand is that we southern whites are voting our interest, as do all racial groups. If we are racists, the argument logically follows that African Americans are as well since they have voted their interests with block voting for over a generation now for the installation of a political system that would hold successful people guilty of a quasi-crime, and seize their property as punishment.

So the question then becomes what are our (southern whites) interests? Well, I think the first interest of ours would be to be treated respectfully. Obviously, that hasn't occured for quite some time now in the democratic party. Secondly, we are traditionalists, and as such, we want the sanctity of the family respected, not ridiculed by triffling ideologues such as Krugman. Third, we are religious people, despite the withering contempt that Krugman and his fellow travelers hold in their cold, black hearts for us as such.

We have been trashed over the past generation in print, movies, and other media. Think southern white, and you think stupid, just as you have been programmed to think. And if you think as you have been programmed to think, who is really stupid?

Anyway, the hatred of southern whites by Krugman and his comrades isn't going to change any time soon. I am a fifty-one year old white male from Georgia who is a member of a social class that has been the focus of national ridicule and hate ever since I can remember.

The fact is that this whole Jena 6 thing was the result of a stupid prank by white students, met with violent force by black students, to which the police overreacted--it is as simple as that. It was a local issue that, like hamburger, has been ground up to supply liberal red meat for the presidential election to come. You will hear pompous politicians recall the Jena 6 from now until election day to pander to their base by propagating the big lie that America is still a racist country.

At the end of the day, what I have learned is that a racist is someone who is winning an argument, and conservatives have been winning the national arugument for some time now. If you want to see real racism and hate, go to democratic underground.com. There you will find real hate, 24/7, not the made-up propaganda type of hate.

Racism is a Democratic issue

Look at Jena.  Jackson and Sharpton are there in full force backing the black kids who beat the hell out of the white kid.  But do you hear about that?  NO!  MSM cannot focus on white issues....only white on black and always the whites fault (Duke).  Jackson and Sharpton have never held a real job and yet they are living the 'American Dream' are they not?

...After all, if 62 percent

...After all, if 62 percent of Southern whites voting for Republicans proves racism, what does 89 percent of blacks around the country voting for Democrats indicate?

It indicates that the only race that can be racist is white.

I get a kick out of the term "reverse racism".

Well, for once, the rich white man is in control. --Montgomery Burns

 “Students who hung

“Students who hung nooses to warn blacks not to sit under a “white” tree were suspended for three days; on the other hand, the students accused in the beating were initially charged with second-degree attempted murder.” - - -

Does anyone see a difference between these two situations? Or is it me?

Also regarding so called Republican racism, who has been running United States foreign policy at the State Department for the past 6 years? And what was the highest ranking minority Black or Hispanic during 8 years of Bubba?

And doesn’t Krugman remind you of the Marty Feldman character, Igor, in Young Frankenstein?

Once again the looney left

Once again the looney left is accusing Repubs of the very thing Dems are systematically guilty of doing.  First, put up or shut up Krugman, actions speak louder than words.  Tell us you race baiter, who was the first African American Secretary of State and what POTUS appointed him????  Who was the second African American Secretary of State and what POTUS appointed her (hint, hint)????  Who was the first African American National Security Advisor and what POTUS appointed her???  Between idiot Carter and sleazy Clinton, how many African American Cabinet level people were appointed between them and compare that to just the recent records of Bush, Jr and Sr.

I think the time is coming that the White House and all organs of government need to start excluding race baiters and their sponsoring organizations from any news conference and briefing room.  It is disgustingly shameless that the likes of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson get any air time, let alone those like Krugman who play to the darkest of human impulses.  I want the Whitehouse to grow a pair and blacklist the NYT from the briefing room until this ugly troll apologizes or is fired.  Racism is unacceptable in this country, race baiting is incitement to racism and we should treat such people like we do the Klan, the Ayrian Nation  or the NAZI party.  Race baiting is a hate crime and needs to be treated as such.  Email the POTUS and tell him as such!

dscott's postulate:  The degree to which someone exaggerates or deceives is inversely proportional to the merit of the advocated position.

dscott,

...organs of government???

LOL. That's a perfect description there.

When I'm president, privatization is off the table because it's not the answer to anything.
-Hillary Rodham, September 3, 2007 AARP Legislative Conference.

Krugman really team with

Krugman really should team with Olberman sometime for a special. They could bill their show as "Double the insanity! Double the bile!"

Kruggie

Kruggie is an emotional child who thinks that he is a rock star. He is at the top of the heap, he just doesn't realize it is a garbage heap.

“And yes, Southern white

“And yes, Southern white exceptionalism is about race, much more than it is about moral values, religion, support for the military or other explanations sometimes offered.”

It is obvious to me that this elitist snob never gets off the Manhattan Island long enough to talk to anybody of any intelligence below the Mansion/Dixon line.

When he thinks of the south the only thing that comes to his mind is the “Dukes of Hazard” re-runs he secretly tape back the 70’s.  He sees “Hee Haw” and rednecks.  He sees cotton fields full of blacks hollering for water and singing Negro spirituals.

It sounds like the real bigot was sitting at a computer typing away without any knowledge on the subject except his own ignorant hatred.

The only thing you should feel when shooting insurgents is the rifle recoil.

Which race?

What race is Paul Krugman? Cause if I'm to fit the characteristics of "racist," I should probably know which race to dislike.

<p>

And since we're generalizing (as racists like to do), should we discriminate against politicians who speak in front of a community where someone is blamed for unsubstantiated claims of discrimination?

<p>

(Sarcasm off, now)  Who is Paul Krugman, anyway?  And why should I care?

SURE REPUBLICANS ARE RACIST...

Despite the fact republicans are the ones who busted most of the racist laws, Krugman claims they are racist. I don't care how much college education from whatever highly regarded school he attended, Krugman is an ignorant @$$. People like Paul Krugman & his liberal/progressive pals generally expose themselves as the intelectual bigots they are every time they open their mouth. When one is never exposed to ideas outside of your own, that is what happens.

Sad thing is Krugman does'nt even know how moronic he is, & I doubt he ever will.

"Some of us are wise, some of us are otherwise"  Mark Levin

Let's face it, the New York

Let's face it, the New York Times is becoming more and more irrelevant as the years go by.  As the circulation continues to plummet and revenues bleed, Pinch and his minnions keep persist in alienating most of the country.  For all the big city liberal elitists who purchase this birdcage liner to read the ignorant musings of Maureen Dowd and Paul Krugman, there are more than enough completely turned off by the toilet paper of record.  They can make all the fraudulent, race-baiting claims they want...and their trained seals will continue to clap.  But it's not like Pinch and Keller are attracting any new subscribers, they're simply preaching to the choir, and reminding correct thinking people why they don't buy that rag.

NYT

Right on fitz,

I agree with your post 100-percent! excellent points you made indeed.

who are the racists?

The African-American race in America was nearly broken by slavery. There were two saving graces that sustained blacks despite the evil of slavery: the strength of black families, and the strength of the black Christian church communities.

The democrat left destroyed the black family with its "great" society in the 60s, and democrats are now kicking the last leg of support from under the black people: they're attacking and systematically destroying the Christian infrastructure of America, primarily through predatory legal challenges, but also by pure anti-Christian bigotry.

Except for a handful of celebrity beneficiaries of leftist political favors, blacks have been irreparably harmed by the democrat party. If I were a democrat, I'd deflect attention too. Out of shame.

And notice how the

And notice how the race-baiting elitist snobs handle themselves when an African-American has the temerity to join the Republican Party.  The treatment of honorable Americans like Clarence Thomas, Michael Steele, Condi Rice, J.C. Watts, Niger Innis and countless others by lynch mob thugs like Ted Kennedy, Robert Byrd, Chuck Schumer, Ted Rall, Jesse Jackson, Maxine Waters, Al Sharpton and countless others has been and continues to be shameful and embarassing.

Also please note...

Krugman's ignoring the campaign of Alan Keyes, who really is running for President as a Republican non-RINO whether anyone in the news media likes it or not.
JMR

Rally online with fans of Dr. Ron Paul.

Now Sarc, we have something

Now Sarc, we have something to agree on there.  I only wish that Alan had gotten in on the debates to raise his standing in the public eye.  He just doesn't have the public exposure as he needs.  He has a lot to offer. If Guilliani or Thompson get the nod they should choose Alan Keyes or JC Watts as VP, that will bring out every "Values" voter of the Repub Party. If you want to see a lopsided Repub victory in 2008, one of those two guys will do it for us.  After the race-bating calls by Krugman, Sharpton and Jackson, every White Southern Male will cast his ballot to the man for the Repub Party, just to spite the lib Dems.  The Dem Party will never recover from such a thrashing.

dscott's postulate:  The degree to which someone exaggerates or deceives is inversely proportional to the merit of the advocated position.

It is difficult to comment

It is difficult to comment about media bias when it comes to Paul Krugman.  This columnist comes off more as a crackpot than a serious opinion-piece writer whose arguments are open to analysis and debate.

And what I really find amazing is that the “decision-makers” at the NYT feel that Krugman’s material is worthy of publication.  Do the owners and editors really not realize that the paper’s agenda-driven content might have something to do with reduced circulation and an increasingly tarnished reputation?

They're into

They're into self-delusion.  Eventually, it catches up to them.

Krugman Truth Squad !

Oh, they care, but that's

Oh, they care, but that's the financial price they are willing to pay for a Dem victory.  There are many ways to contribute to a political campaign, indirectly giving to the Dem Party by losing circulation still money that is expended for the agenda.  Free positive print articles is another.  In their estimation, any loss of circulation is discounted as readers who never bought into their agenda in the first place, so in effect, they really lost nothing but a paying audience that wasn't listening.

dscott's postulate:  The degree to which someone exaggerates or deceives is inversely proportional to the merit of the advocated position.

I am always astounded and

I am always astounded and sickened by people such as Krugman who actually get paid to make completely idiotic and pointless fictional generalizations, and outright lies.

I am further sickened by those who actually put any value to them.

Well you know, if we could

Well you know, if we could just get paid for blogging this might be a great racket...  Move over Krugman, I want a piece of that action!

dscott's postulate:  The degree to which someone exaggerates or deceives is inversely proportional to the merit of the advocated position.

I hears ya!

I hears ya!

Krugman is an interesting

Krugman is an interesting case. Years ago his thoughts and insights on modern economic theory were right on.

However, it is very difficult for a trained professional economist like Krugman to spew this stuff without looking foolish.

I'm not sure what happened to him to cause him to take the NYT gig. It hasn't been pretty.

I'm not sure what happened

I'm not sure what happened to him to cause him to take the NYT gig. It hasn't been pretty.

A very bad case of BDS ...

Even a broken clock is

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.  If you are negative enough, long enough, something is bound to go wrong, making you correct, it's called Confirmation Bias.  Krugman works off the collary of the Correlation is Causation fallacy.

dscott's postulate:  The degree to which someone exaggerates or deceives is inversely proportional to the merit of the advocated position.

Deep defect

Everytime I hear of Krugman I picture him debating Bill O'Reilly on some talk show (can't remember which now). He was sweating, nervous as a teen on prom night and shaking like a leaf. It was quite pathetic.

A real confident person he does not seem to be.
