Republican anger continues to mount over MoveOn's disgraceful ad in Monday's New York Times that referred to "General Betray Us."
Thursday night, Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona) voiced one of the sharpes rebukes of the far-left organization since the ad was first published.
Speaking in front of a group in Hudson, New Hampshire, while holding a blown-up copy of the ad, McCain said (video available here, h/t Gateway Pundit):
It's disgraceful, it's got to be retracted and condemned by the Democrats, and MoveOn.org ought to be thrown out of this country."
How delicious. Do yourself a favor and watch the whole thing.

of course ....
September 15, 2007 - 23:36 ET by tenthreeleader....I'm not a McCain fan but he's right on with this comment. But of course, since NBC thought the most important story in the entire world today was Alan Greenspan ripping the Republican Party, I don't see anyone reporting this in any terms other than condemning those mean, nasty Republicans.

September 16, 2007 - 00:11 ET by marvlThey should throw out moveon.org and that POS George Soros. Watch John Carpenter's classic, "They Live" sometime and tell me what planet Soros is from. Come to think of it, do we know whether or not moveon.org is an organization from an alien planet?

September 16, 2007 - 00:24 ET by pocomocoAs the MSM become less and less relevant, whether or not they report on such matters is now more and more inconsequential because of the many other ways news can be disseminated.
The MSM’s monopolistic strangle-hold has, in effect, disappeared as the Republican candidates bypass them in favor of other outlets to get their messages out to the voters.
As for MoveOn.org, if you understand the liberal mind, you’ll realize that the outrage being shown toward them will only act as a catalyst and embolden them to produce even more of the same type ads.
A liberal mind is a terrible thing to waste – but let’s give it a try anyhow!

Betray Us
September 16, 2007 - 00:44 ET by clarkfkYou know, I'm tempted to become a liberal. This article has swayed me. It is obvious how much easier it would be in life to be simple minded and swayed by the MSM. Maybe their mind control is working, I don't know. But now I have nightmares of being a staunch Republican. It makes me sick to care about this country. I am physically ill every time I think about doubting the liberal sway in the media. Perhaps I should just go to the "dark side" and get it over with. God knows I'd have an easier time being accepted by the mindless idiots who seem to run everything. Life would be better: tax cuts, free welfare to anyone, communisim, socialism, and finally finding my true calling as someone who works to my ability and collects according to my needs.
Well, maybe not. Perhaps there is still some hope within me that people will stop listening to the rubbish that the MSM fills our ears with on a daily basis and bring this country back to the glory it once was. Then again, if the average American would get off their asses and actually find out what's going on (instead of accepting the spoon-fed crap that the Dems are feeding them) America would be a much, much better place to live in.
Sen. McCain - although you lost my vote because of the whole evolution thing, I still applaud your efforts to show the USA what these morons are doing.
As a side note: I find it absolutely hilarious that the Dem-controlled congress approval rating is lower than the GOP-controlled presidency. On the same note, I find it sad that the average American can't seem to put 2 and 2 together...
I can think of better
September 16, 2007 - 01:09 ET by Conservative VoiceI can think of better reasons to not like McCain, but will go ahead and applaud along side of you on this.
I can just hear MoveOn saying things like, the nerve for a President candidate to speak like that about American citizens..problem is they're traitors, so I don't see them as American citizens.

September 16, 2007 - 01:54 ET by RESTLESS 1Damn Noel, did you draw the short stick and are now the only one who has to work this weekend? You are all over this site tonight.
To the point though, kudos to McCain on this one. I have posted elsewhere that George Pataki made a great comment to Alan Colmes the other night on "Hannity and Colmes" that democrat candidates should refuse any funding from MoveOn.org. I would like the see the Republican candidates keep this in the forefront and continue to demand that the dems cut off any association with this group. The media will give us no help, so we will have to carry the water ourselves.

I'm a multi-tasker. So, although it might appear that I live here on weekends, I'm doing all the things a married man with children needs and wants to do on Saturdays and Sundays.
However, bear in mind that I actually like writing, and have a lot of long-term goals involving it. So, this isn't a prison sentence. :-) Thanks for the concern. ns

September 16, 2007 - 08:49 ET by Roger the ShrubberNot to be a nitpicker, but isn't the whole free speech thing the point of MoveOn.org being allowed to be douchebags? Let them say what they want. People are beginning to see them for what they are: leftover loser hippies from the 1960's, and little cultural Marxists.

September 16, 2007 - 09:02 ET by GregEBe on the lookout for moveon's next big ad, a picture of McCain as Hitler. Hitler is the liberal default go-to guy when they're not sure of what to say otherwise. Kinda like calling someone a racist when one can't decide how to really argue a point properly, such as illegal immigration. Just throw in something like that and end the debate abruptly, proudly certifying oneself the winner.

What is good for the goose is good for the gander. Don't be too quick to call for throwing them out of the country. They are just trying to get us to do just that, and then that pesky "fairness" thing will pop up again.
Look how they go after Christians and their views. It is a result, imho of Christians trying to silence other religious views. Let them rant, all the better for us, because then the emperor has no clothes and we see him for all he is worth!

So, the republicans are finally getting angry?
September 16, 2007 - 11:59 ET by Dave RWell, it's about time the (darn near invisible) republicans got their dander up about something.
Ever since the seriously far-left "kook" fringe took control of the Democrat Party (and I am referring to the takeover by MoveOn.org and that crowd, not the previous kook takeover that occurred in Chicago in '68), the republicans appear to have retreated into a black hole. The kookier the dems get, the quiter the republicans become. They appear to me as warts on a log, quietly awaiting he second-coming of Ronald Reagan himself, or some other "saviour."
Since 2000, the dems have served up juicy scandal after juicy scandal, all on on silver platters, that the republicans should have jumped all over. Sandy Burglar's not-so-curious episode (and we all know why he did it, and for whom, too) was just the appetizer.
There's Feinstein, Murtha and Pelosi apparently enriching themselves and/or their families off the war in Iraq while slamming the very effort itself. There are all kinds of campaign-finance related curiosities involving the Hildebeast (of which this Hsu character is only the latest player), not to mention the criminal-related things leftover from the Clinton presidency that are just too numerous to mention, but that could have kept the Bush Justice Department humming along 24/7 since day one. That is, if they weren't so busy prosecuting wayward republicans and ignoring our border laws.
For some odd reason, Mr. Bush decided to give the Clintonista regime and its henchman a pass on nearly everything. Many of these people are still around, and will be returning in the event HRC becomes president. The republicans, throughout all of this, have remained virtually silent.
You also have the Democrat Party "leadership" not just dissenting, but quite literally supporting our enemies in the GWOT by actively working for the defeat of this country. Neither Lincoln, Roosevelt norTruman would have ever stood for this. Why does George W. Bush? Why do the republicans?
Many of these so-called leaders, Pelosi, Reid, Mutrha, Shumer, Durbin, etc., may as well be sporting a turban and sandals every time they show up for one of there little military-bashing press conferences. Yet, everytime one of these enemy-enablers opens their mouth to spout some America-hating nonsense or other, the republicans sit there, stone-faced and utterly silent. They may as well not even exist, as their suits are almost as empty as those of the democrats.
The American people granted the Republican Party control of the congress in '94, and they have done nothing but squander this opportunity ever since. They have turned their backs on their base by abandoning the very principles they ran on. Since the election of George W. Bush in 2000, the republicans have overseen a federal government that has effectively doubled in size. This is unforgivable.
If something doesn't change, and soon, I believe the republicans are headed for a catastrophic defeat in '08. The mid-term loss was just a mere tap on the window compared to what's coming. Who knows, perhaps this will finally shake them from their stupor.
As for me, this prodigal may very well be returning to the Libertarian Party, begging forgiveness.
