Chalk up another in a litany of absurd statements made by MSNBC's Keith Olbermann.
As part of an interview published in Playboy magazine's October issue, Olbermann actually said, "Fox News is worse than Al Qaeda."
I kid you not.
The entire disgraceful quote, offered as a teaser for the full interview at Playboy's website (be advised that pictures of scantily clad women exist on the page as well), was as follows (h/t Inside Cable News via Johnny Dollar):
Al Qaeda really hurt us, but not as much as Rupert Murdoch has hurt us, particularly in the case of Fox News. Fox News is worse than Al Qaeda - worse for our society. It's as dangerous as the Ku Klux Klan ever was.
Imagine that. And this guy has his own show on MSNBC which is being broadcast live before "Sunday Night Football" on NBC.
How delightful.
Update 12:29 | Matthew Sheffield. This pompous comment is also "special:"
Giuliani tried to out-Bush Bush. He tried to get votes by talking about casualties as if another attack like 9/11 were inevitable, suggesting that voting for anyone but him would lead to more people getting killed. That's about an inch from saying, "If you don't vote for me, you'll die," which is another inch from saying, "If you don't vote for me, I'll kill you." And that, to me, is not America. In fact, it's not Earth. I don't usually single out candidates for praise or brickbats, but if they're going to politicize terror, to do the work of the terrorists by terrorizing the populace, I'll come down on them like a ton of bricks. That's my job.
That must be why Olbermann repeatedly denounces people like Al Gore who essentially say "If you don't believe in global warming you'll die."
Oh yeah, I forgot. Olbermann is a liar who only pretends to be non-partisan.
Post facto opinion by Noel Sheppard: An anchor for one of the leading television news networks in the world has stated that a competing network is worse than the world's leading terrorist organization responsible for the killing of thousands on September 11, 2001, and many others around the globe.
He's also stated that this news network is as dangerous as the most racist organization to ever exist in America.
Can anyone explain how this man can say these things and continue to represent MSNBC and NBC?

BATH-TUB-BOY...
September 11, 2007 - 05:43 ET by danybhoyThere is a simple response, General Electric has rewarded him very well for not winning his timeslot, he just bought a $4,500,000 pad in one of Trump's buildings. Just quit buying anything GE, light bulbs, other household goods, whatever. In the end, they are his boss, if he's costing them real money, they might put an end to this.
I do have a question for BathTubBoy, I know that Uncle Rupert & his FoxNewsChannel are evil, "worse then Al-Queda" in your words. Will you, BathTubBoy, look into the war profiteers you work for at General Electric? The very company that overpays your intellectually bankrupt @$$ has more then a few big money military contracts, something I sure you know. I also know that will be ignored by those who think your "special comments" & your "journalism" are worthy actually tuning in to get thier fix of BDS. Talk about YOUR COMPANY & THEIR ROLE in helping the military industrial complex in the mission that President Bush gives them, you won't do it, & you CAN'T DO IT. You know could'nt do it without betraying those you work for or those(only a few idiots who need to be medicated-but they are out there) who hang on your every word. Maybe another news outlet should do an indepth investigative report on GE's war profiteering, like saaaay, FoxNewsChannel.

Olber comedy news network
September 10, 2007 - 18:17 ET by SportPoliticsThey are playing their hope card - John Stewart's show and Colbert Report are huge winners, so they want to make news "comedy".
So they've come up with this loud mouthed long worded left wing psycho Olbermann. His entire show isn't serious- even though he often pretends to be - so anything they say or he says is always underlined with "we were only joking - lighten up !"
They play the attacks on Fox like newsgossip - it's the inside story on the network battles - of course they are only being "open minded" when they do it - and "showing the public" a "behind the scenes" look at the news family battles... it's " moral " of them to be so open an honest...
This and things like this, their never ending twisted comedy routines they call Countdown and whatever other dancing cartoons they have for the Olberkook hour is ok, because " they are doing a public service making news acceptable and watchable for teenyboppers and MTV heads, and we need so much more participation from the "unconcerned" in order that they "get active" and stand up to government and be "involved". So you need a half insane comedic kookball like Olbermann to do it.
He is styled after the lunatic Bill Nuy the Sceince Guy. Kooky faces at the camera, smart aleck hip talking, strange comedic inflections, it's all one big happy friendly JOKE - it makes learning FUN.
So, I guess it's also styled after the new "teaching methods". It's got to be FUN, you need to be entertained, or you can't learn, we can't keep your attention, we need this made for people with ADD and ADHD - we have to be inclusive for them...
I'm sure they have a thousand more " researched and consulted reasons".

September 10, 2007 - 18:39 ET by SportPoliticsas we were told, the nation was joined at the hip for about 2 weeks after 911. It was all downhill from there. September 10, 2007 - 18:49 ET by mostlymoderateUnfortunately, I agree. It used to be that the most "un-biased" news there was was the Weather Channel. I mean, c'mon, how could you ever politicize the "weather", right? Then there was Al Gore.
I *know* that the left-wing started this whole mess by liberalizing ABC, NBC, CBS and multiple newspapers around the Country. I *know* we need the Rush Limbaugh's of radio to try and balance things out. My point was simply that he is similar to Olbermann, just on the other side. And no, I can't really think of any particular newsperson that is 100% un-biased; I don't even know if that is possible in this day and age.
I listen to liberal and conservative commentators. I form my own decisions. I guess that's why I can like a Rush Limbaugh but also like an Olbermann; they both make me think.
Ok mostlymoderate, you admit
September 10, 2007 - 19:17 ET by SportPoliticsthere aren't any names you can think of to mention. Then let's take your last statement and analyze:
" They both separate a nation into "them & us". They both separate a nation that seriously need's to be united to take on the rest of the world."
Can I assume by this - that you mean everyone talking their stuff - since you admitted that "unfortunately" that's true. It applies not just to Rush and Olby, but to all of them.
Then you say we seriously NEED to be united to "take on the world". Well, we don't have to take on the world, unless they all really hate us - as the left says.
But we KNOW this is lie- the same as a blue state red state is played. Near 50/50 percentages become ALL 100% nostrums. It's not the just the terrorists that hate us say the left- everyone else does too.
So now you just blurt out we need to be united - they're all dividing us - and we have to take on the world. (that's moderate?)
I suggest, the very way you PUT IT is the problem, the same problem Olbermann has in SEVERITY, and the one you notice in Rush...
Gigantic overstated exaggeration characterized and constructed with ongoing GIGANTIC lies everyone KNOWS aren't true if they actually thought about for 2 seonds.
So, being a moderate- YOU should be the PERSON who DOES THE WORK - to - bring us all together.
You obviously do not. It's all a gigantic war to you - even in the USA - between left and right, and we need to take on the world.
How about
THE TRUTH
" We're fighting the radical Islamists and by ALL COUNTS they are losing a lot more than we are - and MANY other nations in the world are cooperating with our efforts and cracking down on them as well, even some middle eastern nations."
THE TRUTH
See, that's the real moderate truth. That's what moderation is about - not lying, isn't it ?

I have seen and heard Olbermann for a long time as well and it is obvious to me that his liberal ideas are purposely concealed for the self-centered purpose of gaining respect as a journalist. (which he has never been...he's always been an entertainer)
I cannot see the any kind of reasonable comparison between the two.
Olbermann and Football
September 10, 2007 - 23:42 ET by Dr_LibertyI saw this twit doing commentary on NBC Sunday Football yesterday, alongside the nearly always annoying Bob Costas, and I had to change the channel to tennis. And I hate tennis. Olbermann ruined an otherwise great football weekend. (Go Ducks!)
The only positive thing about Olbermann's presence was that it made me feel sympathetic towards Costas.
I remember Olbermann as a sportscaster in L.A. about two decades ago, and he was annoying then.

This is the same Keith
September 11, 2007 - 08:53 ET by nythatesusaThis is the same Keith Olbermann who said: "The person Ken Starr has reminded me of facially all this time was Heinrich Himmler"(source:mrc.com).
These views are even out of the Manhattan Media Mainstream. The question is, why does the GOP continue to cooperate with these leftist organizations?
Olbermann makes some more insane charges here, and I'm guessing the interviewer did not ask him to give examples of Fox News being "worse than al Qaeda", or Giuliani being "another inch from saying 'If you don't vote for me, I'll kill you'". This is irresponsible. But I will ask you, KARL KOLCHAK and MOSTLY MODERATE, what specifically has Limbaugh said that is the equivalent of these Olbermann statements?
Will the GOP presidential candidates get some gonads and say they will not talk to NBC News until Olbermann, at least, apologizes? And not some smarmy non-apology apology, but something at least halfway towards contrition.
