 When my daughter was in middle school she brought home her science book. It stated that hydro plants damaged fish below the dam. Well I knew this to be BS. For 23 years I had worked for Duke Power performing maintenance on all types, fossils, nuclear, hydro, of plants. The fishermen were always up close to the dams. Any fisherman will tell you when the turbines are turning it stirs up the oxygen drawing the fish in. The big ones come to feast on the little ones.

All this is just bovine scatology or Barbara Striesand (?).

As policymakers consider removing dams to restore salmon runs, they should realize that doing so could release the carbon buried by erosion.  Many of the eligible dams are buried in eroded sediment; removing them would disturb this layer of mud and allow trapped carbon to escape.

Isn't it ironic that global warming is caused by the same dams that provide the lakes for us to cool off and swim in?  Sounds like the pros and cons cancel each other out.

For many decades, Switzerland has relied on hydroelectric dams for the majority of their electricity. 30 years ago, in fact, 90 percent of the Suisse power grid was fed by hydro. It's now at 58%, thanks to the recent increased use of (gasp) nuclear plants.

Here in my neck of the woods, our small town was one of the only towns in the state of New Hampshire that wasn't affected by the Great 1965 blackout. The reason? The Public Service Company hydroelectric dam located in our town. Of course, less than a decade later PSNH was run into bankruptcy by the anti-nuke leftists...

 What these groups want to do is send us all back to the 1800's. Let's break out the paraffin and make candles.  All of us start raising a horse to ride to work on (to hell with the methane gas the horse gives off), start using the old wood stove, and dry our clothes on the clothesline.  Obviously, modern society is not for these people.

Never argue with an idiot.  They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

All I can say for people so into nature, sure don't understand nature. Trapped water creates more green, thereby reduces CO2. Trapped water also cools. Hydro electric keeps us from burning fuel. As far as any dead material...guess what that is part of the circle of life...it allows for more nutrients for plants, which again less CO2.

Lakes also provide a place for camping and recreation...which means more funds to the forest service, which allow for more resources to be used to maintain and improve our wilderness.

Were any of these things used as offsets to the so called danger of methane?  ( something that occurs naturally? )  I doubt it. 

I hate these humans are virus types...hello the beaver created dams before man...only they do far more damage in the process.
