As NewsBusters reported last Saturday, PBS's Bill Moyers went on an absolutely disgraceful rant about Karl Rove, George W. Bush, and religion during the August 17 installment of "Bill Moyers Journal."
Two days later, Rove was Chris Wallace's guest on "Fox News Sunday," and took issue with Moyers's comments: "Mr. Moyers ought to do a little bit better research before he does another drive-by slander."
Moyers followed this up with a letter to Wallace posted at his blog Wednesday suggesting that Wallace didn't do his homework concerning Rove, and that Wallace shouldn't "take his every word as gospel."
This Sunday, Wallace fired back (video available here):
He quoted four print stories for his contention that Rove is agnostic, none of which offer any proof other than what Rove supposedly told colleagues over the years.[...]
Well, to save on postage, Bill, here's my response. If you want to find out about someone's religious beliefs, a good first step might be to ask him. If you had talked to Rove as I did, you would have found out he reads a devotional every day and the biggest charitable contribution he ever made was to his church. Of course, you never called Rove. That's reporting 101, but it would have gotten in the way of a tasty story line about a non-believer flimflamming the Christian right. I guess, Bill, reporting is easier when you don't worry about the facts.
Bravo!

Yes!
August 26, 2007 - 13:45 ET by Rastus03Moyers is the poster child for the elite media who would much rather utilize rumor and utter speculation, based on strictly anecdotal information, to arrive at their twisted and extreme conclusions.
He has no credibility beyond the left wing few who reside in academia, the wannabe's in the entertainment industry, and his media enablers.
Why someone who shows such laziness in gathering facts still gets a forum to spew forth is well past my ability to comprehend.
Thanks to Chris Wallace, he is furher confirmed as a maroon extraordinaire.

Should we perhaps re-classify Bill Moyers as a performance artist? For his own sake - that way, he doesn't have to be held back by annoying things like facts.
Moyers a performance artist?

August 26, 2007 - 13:56 ET by motherbeltWell, a la Michael Moore, he can say it's commentary, or satire, or hey, even comedy. Or a combination of all of them..."a work of art." Then that "artistic license" thing kicks in! How cool is that????

Moyers
August 26, 2007 - 13:56 ET by pocomocoIn spite of the fact that Moyers is an ordained Baptist minister, he regularly demonstrates an excessive intolerance toward others - especially Karl Rove.
Rove has become an obsession with Moyers because, as he surmises, he used the Christian right to defeat the Democrats not once but twice.
Of course when ministers Jackson and Sharpton do the same thing against Republicans, Moyers has a blind spot.

It doesn't even matter if Rove is Christian
August 26, 2007 - 15:50 ET by Dee BunkMoyers is such an idiot. It's bad enough that he has to lie about it, but who cares if Rove is a Christian anyway? Can he name one thing he has done that would be offensive to Christians? This is actually the first I've heard about what faith he is and I could care less if he's a Christian, Jew, Muslim or atheist. Moyers just doesn't get the fact that it's the issues that matter. The important thing is that Bush appointed conservative judges and got rid of partial birth abortion. Why the heck would anyone care what the religion of Bush's advisors are?
These liberals are such bigots and it's unbelievable how they get away with it.
The Chris Wallace response
August 26, 2007 - 15:51 ET by maggieqpublicThe Chris Wallace response to Moyers was really macho. He called out a wimpy old gossip. Will the MSM provide coverage of this news tidbit?

Liberal Christians
August 26, 2007 - 20:27 ET by River CityBill Moyers was jumping on the Obama bandwagon with his accusations agains Rove. Obama believes the left has seized the momentum with the religious for the next election. There have always been liberal churches and liberals who attend church. Most Catholics I know are liberal and don't have a problem with abortion. Obama's church, the UCC, is the most liberal denomination in the U.S., or a close second. Many of the old, mainline denominations have liberals in top leadership positions and push each other to see who can be the most "open and affirming". These are the groups Moyers and Obama are tapping into. They think they can speak a psuedo-religious language of Christian churches and convince people they aren't anti-Christian. Bill Moyers won't provide very good cover for Obama.
I was suprised Chris Wallace chastised Moyers as directly as he did. It gave me pleasure to see it. But I think it will just be more cannon fodder for Moyers and his goons.

Re the Wallace response to Moyers.....
August 27, 2007 - 00:21 ET by maggieqpublicA brief Google tour revealed that many pro-Moyers folks see no reason to request an interview with the target of a column/blog/TV segment if you “know” the target is a liar.

Wallace 2, Moyers 0
August 27, 2007 - 09:44 ET by Sergeant ROCKMoyers is such a moron. Kudos to Chris Wallace for taking on Moyers lies. If Moyers had any kind of guts, he would appear on Wallace's show to defend his propaganda. But he won't, because he's a coward.
