Well, sports fans, the list of folks challenging soon-to-be-Dr. Al Gore to put up or shut up continues to grow, of course, with little notice from an adoring media.
Next up wanting to take shots at the Global Warmingist-in-Chief is best-selling author Dennis Avery.
As reported by PR Newswire Monday (emphasis added throughout):
Mr. Avery is co-author of Unstoppable Global Warming Every 1,500 Years. Both Al Gore and Dennis Avery have New York Times best-selling books on global warming, but with opposite conclusions.
Of course, the media never report these challenges. After all, why should they? The debate’s over:[…]
Avery joins Lord Christopher Monckton (former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher advisor), Bjorn Lomborg (Danish economist), author Michael Crichton, Prof. S. Fred Singer (former director of the U.S. National Weather Service), Tim Ball, Ph.D. (historical climatologist), Prof. Ian Clark (University of Ottawa), and Prof. Richard Lindzen (MIT) among others.
"My book says our warming is natural, unstoppable-and not very dangerous anyway," stated Avery.
"These books represent the two leading explanations for the Earth's recent temperature changes-and they conflict. If global warming truly is the most important public policy issue of our day, then it is high time the public got to hear the arguments from both sides matched up against each other," continued Avery.
I quite agree. Yet, it seems quite unlikely Gore will accept:
Gore has refused all debate challengers to date. Joseph Bast, president of The Heartland Institute, noted, "Maybe it's because climate alarmists tend to lose when they debate climate realists. Or because most scientists do not support climate alarmism." The Heartland Institute has run more than $500,000 of ads in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and Washington Times promoting a debate.
How delicious.

August 6, 2007 - 16:18 ET by JayTeeSomeone has to start repeating the Truth...to combat the Lies being repeated ad Nauseum on MSM. Dallas went the Entire month of July without a 100 Degree day. Nobody has heard about it, but Global Warming is making the Front page all over. The Lies are being Repeated......It has to stop somewhere, but good luck trying to Get Air time in a Fair environment.
The Lat time Mr. Ayers was on Fox, he asked for "Proof" because it seems there is Plenty of Proof in History, in Ice Cores, in anyplace you wanna look, but the only proof being offered for Global Warming is in the Billions everyone is asking for to Analyze it.......If it's a Done Deal....why do we need to spend so much of our Tax money on it....?

August 6, 2007 - 16:36 ET by whatajoyAmazing. Why won't Gore debate or even listen to the other side? Hollywood acts as if Gore is God believing whatever he says about anything. However, Gore KNOWS he is wrong. Otherwise he'd be happy to listen and debate about it with opposers. Why can't liberals realize this? Why do they put him up on a pedestal? I don't get it. He's NOT God!

August 6, 2007 - 17:15 ET by Sick-n-TiredMr. Avery et al. need to challenge not only Gore, but the scientists he references, as well as the climate 'expert' hacks that have been spewing their lies on the discovery channel, weather channel etc. Gore is just the face and mouth piece for AGW.
As a scientist myself, I know one thing is for sure; if the AGW scientists are challenged they most likely would not back down--they would welcome it.
They would obviously lose, however they wouldn't be able to resist--it is encoded in them (on both sides of the issue). Science is about debating the facts and interpretations; it is how our understanding of the world around us developes and evolves (no pun intended). Any scientist worth a damn, that actually believed his or her hypothesis and interps, wouldn't and shouldn't be affraid take on the proposed challenge.
Put Gore and 'his' scientists on a panel against Avery et al and watch the fireworks fly!!

Watched a National
August 6, 2007 - 18:09 ET by Clear thinkerWatched a National Geographic show this weekend that focused on one particular Polar Bear. They made it seem like it was the end of the world (due to AGW of course) because the bear walked 70 miles south away from the ice. They had a big buildup of how he was going to starve and how uncomfortable he was because it was warmer, yada-yada-yada. Just when you thought the bear was a goner, the bear finds a huge sperm whale carcus and spend s the next few months gorging on whale blubber. Then the bear simply walked back north to the ice. End of story? No.
They still blamed his ordeal on AGW! Silly people.

I know that 99.9% of the actors in Hollywood and New York are very liberal - it seems to come with the territory. I can put up with that from many of them, most of the time. However, at some point, they cross the rubicon - when their political personas over shadow their professional life - and I can't watch them play a role without thinking, "That's so and so, and he (or she) is an obnoxious liberal". Know what I mean?

Global Warming : An Opposition of Science Falsely So Called

"Global" warming is a false doctrine used to enact crippling economic legislation against the United States.
Global warmists ignore this key verse :
Psalms 47:9
The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted.
The "global warming" problem has already been taken care of by the 5 trillion trees on earth that remove carbon dioxide from the air, the 7 different 150 m.p.h. jet streams that circle the earth daily (and disperse emissions into space to levels of parts-per-trillion), the tilt of the earth that brings SUMMER in its season and WINTER in its, the existing FREE-MARKET legislation already in place, and the fact that an all-powerful Creator can expand the orbit of the earth if "global" warming really was a "global" problem.
Globalwarmingtologists are being blown about by mined, sifted, and manufactured "scientific" "facts".
Ephesians 4:14
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
