ABC’s Clinton Mania Invades...the Weather Report

April 23rd, 2016 10:15 AM

Good Morning America reporters on Thursday offered a fawning town hall forum to Hillary Clinton, full of softball questions about Saturday Night Live and hot sauce. (No queries on Benghazi or the e-mail scandal were allowed.) The 29 and a half minutes of air time were so stilted that the fawning even invaded the weather report. At the end of the half hour, Robin Roberts ended a segment and turned things over to meteorologist Rob Marciano.

Instead of doing the weather, however, he simply offered what sounded like a commercial for Clinton: “Even outside we have a slew of Hillary Clinton supporters.” Marciano then talked to Alex, an enthusiastic 17-year-old. Alex cheered, “Excitement and energy is all that we're about. We want to show Hillary Clinton we are committed every step of the way!” The ABC weatherman then ran out of time for the weather report.

Instead of pressing Clinton on her secret e-mail server or Benghazi, Stephanopoulos, who it was revealed in 2015 secretly donated $75,000 to the Clinton Foundation, allowed a Democratic Congressman and super delegate, to offer a softball.

During another segment, Stephanopoulos appeared baffled as to why anyone would distrust Clinton

In contrast, during a town hall for Ted Cruz on Monday, the hosts griilled the Republican and played a montage of his opponents slamming him.

A transcript of the “weather” segment is below:

ROB MARCIANO: Even outside we have a slew of Hillary Clinton supporters. This is Alex who is 17 now. When do you turn 18?

ALEX:  May 2nd. Two weeks.

MARCIANO: You can't wait to vote from New Jersey so that's going to happen.

ALEX: Yes, New Jersey is a very important primary coming out and showing our support. Excitement and energy is all that we're about. We want to show Hillary Clinton we are committed every step of the way.

MARCIANO: All right. I gotta go. Here’s your local forecast.
