Mika Brzezinski, co-host of MSNBC's Morning Joe, had strong words on Friday, May 12, for the show's rival on the Cable News Network: "You've got to stop putting [White House Counselor] Kellyanne Conway on the air. It's politics porn."
"Sorry," she continued. "I love CNN," but interviewing Conway just gives the channel "your little ratings crack, OK? But it's disgusting" since she brings nothing "to the table that's honest."
"Your hosts know it," she continued. "Your hosts look pained when they interview her" because "they're not doing news. We need to stick to the news."
Brzezinski began the segment by listing several officials in President Donald Trump's administration: "Kellyanne Conway, Sarah Huckabee [Sanders, principal deputy White House secretary], [White House Press Secretary] Sean Spicer, [Vice President] Mike Pence.”
“Now,” she continued, they are “all in the same category, in the ‘Kellyanne category.’ Not credible, proved as a liar, made a fool.”
Legal Insurrection writer (and former NewsBusters contributing writer) Mark Finkelstein called Brzezinski’s comment part of “her war on Kellyanne” by “trying to keep her off the air on a rival network.”
As NewsBusters previously reported, Brzezinski declared on her Wednesday, February 15 show Conway would never be a guest on the program “as long as I'm on it.”
She made the declaration because “I don't believe in 'fake news' for information that is not true. Every time I've ever seen her on television, something's askew, off or incorrect.”
Brzezinski began the segment by stating: “At times in recent days, Kellyanne Conway has struggled to stay on the same page, to say the least, as the rest of the staff at the White House.”
She then aired a clip of Conway stating during a television appearance on Monday that General Michael Flynn “does enjoy the full confidence of the president” hours prior to Flynn's resignation.
After showing other clips of Conway on several cable television news programs making remarks that were contradicted by Spicer, Brzezinski noted that she “was just saying that she books herself on these shows, and we know for a fact that she tries to book herself on this show.”
“I won't do it because I don't believe in 'fake news' for information that is not true,” the co-host added.
“Right,” co-host Joe Scarborough agreed.
Of course, the Morning Joe hosts aren’t the only members of the liberal media to clash with Conway.
On Monday, March 13, Chris Cuomo -- a co-host on CNN’s New Day morning program -- criticized her for suggesting there are journalists who didn’t want Donald Trump to become president.
Cuomo whined that her comments were “hurtful” and “unfair” even though they were true.
Regarding feminists and their reaction to Conway, she “made history as the only victorious female presidential campaign manager and then became a senior counselor to the president. Feminists, who should applaud her accomplishments and high position in the administration, instead despise her.”
The career woman and mother of four has been subject to base attacks from liberal media, including Saturday Night Live, The New York Times and other outlets. Now, she’s been characterized as a slut and a stalker.
Conway again clashed with Cuomo on Wednesday, May 10, the day after President Trump fired FBI Director James Comey.
During that morning’s edition of New Day, Cuomo showed his anger over the firing by “interrogating, interrupting and generally losing his mind while going after” Conway.
At one point in the contentious interview, Conway asked: “Chris, do you want me to ask the questions? Because you're giving all the answers.”
“I’ve got to check what you’re saying,” the co-host asserted. “I’ve got to provide the context for it.”
“No,” Conway replied, “you’re using words. Let me know when I can answer.”
“Knock yourself out,” Cuomo then stated.
Despite Brzezinski’s “concern” for the Cable News Network hosting the president’s adviser as a guest, it’s likely they’ll continue to do so as long as the ratings are good and they help CNN in its ongoing struggle with Morning Joe to be the first to climb out of the ratings cellar.
