Beyonce and Jay-Z Join Sharpton and Trayvon Martin's Mother at Protest in Harlem

Kicking off a day of nationwide protests of the George Zimmerman verdict, hip-hop stars Beyonce and Jay-Z joined Al Sharpton and Trayvon Martin's mother at a rally in Harlem Saturday.

The New York Post reported:

“We have moved on from the verdict,” Sybrina Fulton told a crowd at the National Action Network on W. 145th Street.

“Of course we are hurting,” she added. “Of course we are shocked and disappointed, but that just means we have to roll up our sleeves and continue to fight.” [...]

His mother, wearing a shirt with an image of her late teenage son, stood with the Rev. Al Sharpton during a morning rally that continued to One Police Plaza at noon. They were joined at One Police Plaza by rapper Jay Z and wife Beyonce.

Regardless of how the media have behaved, Martin's parents have acted with dignity and grace throughout this ordeal.

My heart goes out to them both and to all of Martin's friends and family members.

That said, as long as Sharpton is leading rallies around the nation, shouldn't he step down as MSNBC anchor?

How can he possibly be considered an impartial disseminator of news when he's at the heart of it?

I know. Stupid question. MSNBC hasn't cared about impartiality in years.

Move along. Nothing to see here.
