Most liberal media members and prominent Democrats including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) took great offense to Sen. Scott Brown's (D-Mass.) joke concerning rival Elizabeth Warren not posing naked when she was in law school.
Quite surprisingly, when this matter came up on ABC's The View Monday, the ladies sided with Brown (multipart video follows with transcripts and commentary):
CHRISTIANE AMANPOUR, HOST: Can I just ask you about a little local spat? There was a back-and-forth between Elizabeth Warren and between Senator Brown in Massachusetts.

(UNKNOWN): To help pay for his law school education, Scott Brown posed for Cosmo. How did you pay for your college education?
(LAUGHTER)
ELIZABETH WARREN, DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FOR MASSACHUSETTS SENATOR: I kept my clothes on.
(LAUGHTER)

(UNKNOWN): Have you officially responded to Elizabeth Warren's comment about how she didn't take her clothes off?
SENATOR SCOTT BROWN (R-MASSACHUSETTS) : Thank God.

AMANPOUR: What did you make of all of that?
CONGRESSWOMAN NANCY PELOSI (D-CALIFORNIA): The response you just gave, "Thank god," really, I thought spoke volumes about how clueless Senator Brown is. It really spoke volumes about really disrespect for women that he may not even realize. I bet you he'd like to take that comment back.
AMANPOUR: Did you think it was kind of joke-y, for both of them?
PELOSI: Well, I think that -- she was asked a question. And -- and I -- I hope it's joke-y. And if it is, then hopefully he will take that comment back. But women know. They hear a comment like that, it tells you a lot about somebody.
Really? Let's see what the ladies of The View think:
WHOOPI GOLDBERG, CO-HOST: Senator Scott Brown is taking a lot of heat for comments he made about Democratic rival Elizabeth Warren. Now last week, Warren was asked about Scott Brown, you know, he posed in Cosmo in his youth. Okay, and he was naked. When he was in law school, okay, a thousand years ago.
JOY BEHAR, CO-HOST: To pay for law school.
GOLDBERG: To pay for law school. When Elizabeth Warren was asked how she paid for college, she said she kept her clothes on. Now, on a radio show afterwards, Scott Brown was asked, you know, what do you think of that? And he said, “Thank God.”
[Audience laughter]
GOLDBERG: Now, there's a lot of fingers to be pointed in this.
SHERRI SHEPHERD, CO-HOST: Nancy Pelosi was saying that, you know, she wants him to take it back. She said he was clueless about women. Me, I don’t have a problem with what he said. I think she made the first dig. I think people keep thinking they can say something and there's no ramifications back. It's just like when you talk about when you hit a man, expect him to turn around and pop you, too. It’s like, so when they asked her, I think if she would have had fun with it, he would have had fun back.
BEHAR: She did have fun, though. She was laughing.
BEHAR: You know what; I don’t think Elizabeth Warren cares at all about this comment. She’s, she’s got a mission, she’s going for it, she doesn’t care. If they said Rudy Giuliani didn't take his clothes off, I'd say, “Thank God” to that also.
[Audience laughter]
SHEPHERD: Then what is Nancy, why is Nancy Pelosi getting all crazy about it, that he should apologize?
BEHAR: Because she feels as a woman that women should not be looked upon, they should not be judged by their looks.
ELISABETH HASSELBECK, CO-HOST: Who threw the first sword?
SHEPHERD: Who threw the first sword?
HASSELBECK: I think a woman did in this case
BEHAR: She didn’t say such a bad thing. All she said was I didn't pay for law school by taking off my clothes.
SHEPHERD: But it was obviously taken as a dig.
GOLDBERG: You know, I’m looking at it, well, it is mild, but it's a dig nonetheless. So is “Thank God,” because I'm looking at her like Scott Brown was saying, “Thank God you didn't have to do that like I did.”
BEHAR: Oh, that’s good, good spin, baby.
[Audience laughter]
SHEPHERD: You’re such a wonderful person.
GOLDBERG: You know, because, here’s what, here’s how I think: you hear something, you make your decision what you think it means.
SHEPHERD: Right.
HASSELBECK: Right.
GOLDBERG: Now when I heard it, I have to tell you the truth, I didn’t think he was, I thought he was saying, “Thank God you didn't have to do that.”
SHEPHERD: Well, they said he was laughing when he made the comment, cause he said he was joking.
HASSELBECK: He’s pretty blunt.
SHEPHERD: Not everybody looks good posing nude.
GOLDBERG: He is blunt, that's why I think he was being nice, cause if he had said what he meant, he could have said some other stuff, but he didn't. But you know what; we're going to say more stuff because that's what we get paid to do.
When the ladies of The View side with a Republican man over two Democrat women, it sure makes Pelosi look foolish for her answer and Amanpour absurd for even bringing this issue up.
