CNN political commentator Van Jones brought the news outlet’s political commentary to a new low following the final presidential debate Wednesday. “You know, this is a really sad night. I’m just going to say it. This is a very sad night for the country. You can't polish this turd,” bemoaned the leftist as he slammed Donald Trump's performance. That’s right, Jones resorted to being a proverbial potty-mouth, just like he did during the Republican National Convention when he called the GOP “doggie poo.”
“Technically, you cannot polish any turd,” joked moderator Anderson Cooper, which drew laughter from the whole panel. But that did little to quell Jones’ frustration with Trump’s refusal to say that he would accept the results of the election, but went on to praise Al Gore for dragging the country through months of chaos:
Look, I'm going to be very, very clear about this. Al Gore respected the constitution, respected the process, respected every voter… And when the election results were certified, he told his party and base to stand down and accept this. Even though a lot of us were very, very upset.
Yet there are liberal to this day that refuse to accept the results of the 2000 election.
Jones followed up his praise for Gore with swift attacks against Trump. “He doesn’t talk about Ronald Reagan the way he talks about Putin and Assad,” he whined, “This man has demonstrated an appalling lack of patriotism.” He then slammed Trump supporter and NewsBusters contributor Jeffrey Lord, saying, “And you should be ashamed at yourself to sit up here and defend it.”

Debate Night in America
October 19, 2016
10:49:56 PM Eastern…
ANDERSON COOPER: Van, do you want to weigh in on this?
VAN JONES: You know, this is a really sad night. I’m just going to say it. This is a very sad night for the country. You can't polish this turd. This is—I’m sorry. You can not—
COOPER: Technically, you cannot polish any turd.
[Laughter]
JONES: Yes exactly. Look, I'm going to be very, very clear about this. Al Gore respected the constitution, respected the process--
JEFFREY LORD: He did not.
JONES: --respected every voter. Went to our Supreme Court, asked for a resolution on his own terms as did George W. Bush. And when the election results were certified, he told his party and base to stand down and accept this. Even though a lot of us were very, very upset. What you just got now was the nominee of a major party for the first time in our history signaling to the American people that he has so little faith in our institutions. He has so little faith in our people. He has so little faith in our courts. He has so little faith in the Republican governors, the Republican secretaries of state across this country that he will not stand in front of his own country, in front of his own nation and say that he respects the process and the outcome. That is an outrage. The appalling lack of patriotism from this man.
LORD: The appalling—
JONES: No.
LORD: And Al Gore.
[Crosstalk]
COOPER: Let him finish.
JONES: The appalling lack of patriotism from this man to stand there and say that. To praise Putin and Assad more than he has praised any American president. He doesn't talk about George Washington. He doesn’t talk about Ronald Reagan the way he talks about Putin and Assad. This man has demonstrated an appalling lack of patriotism. And you should be ashamed at yourself to sit up here and defend it [Pointing to Lord].
