How Old Are You? Van Jones Calls the GOP ‘Doggie Poo’

July 20th, 2016 11:23 PM

In a very bizarre attack against the GOP Wednesday evening, CNN political commentator Van Jones seemingly channeled his inner child by referring to the party as “doggie poo.” “The problem is that good tasty gumbo continues to be ruined by the doggie poo of the xenophobia, of the doggie poo of the anti-immigrant strident message that doesn't carefully distinguish between good and the bad of even our undocumented population,” stated Jones.

The insult came as members of the panel was discussing the speech delivered by Darrell Scott, a black pastor from Ohio. Host Anderson Cooper noted that his remarks were very popular among the attendees, “Certainly getting some of the biggest applause lines of the night so far.”

Donald Trump supporter Kayleigh McEnany pointed out the reason why the crowd enjoyed it:

And those were messages of unity. Those were messages of coming together as America. And you saw Republican convention. Unity is the theme Americans want to hear, Republicans want to hear, and they applauded that loudly.

McEnany was pointing out the unity messaging because on Monday Jones described the convention as a “hate-fest.” “What I will say is this. Up until now, up until this moment, I was not saying borderline hate-fest. This is hate-fest,” Jones spat.

ANDERSON COOPER: Darrell Scott, pastor and co-founder of the New Spirit Revival Center [inaudible] Ohio. Certainly getting some of the biggest applause lines of the night so far.

KAYLEIGH MCENANY: And those were messages of unity. Those were messages of coming together as America. And you saw Republican convention. Unity is the theme Americans want to hear, Republicans want to hear, and they applauded that loudly.

JEFFREY LORD: I would just like to point out to my Van, yet another American who happens to be black in this case. He’s out there with an enthusiastic endorsement of Donald Trump.

VAN JONES: You know what’s so amazing is that African-Americans and Latinos should resonate with this Republican Party. Enterprise, you got an incredible entrepreneurial section of the Black community, Latino community. Faith, family, all that. The problem is that good tasty gumbo continues to be ruined by the doggie poo of the xenophobia, of the doggie poo of the anti-immigrant strident message that doesn't carefully distinguish between good and the bad of even our undocumented population. And so this— the tragedy, is that we should have a political party in this room that can compete. That African-Americans are zero percent for Trump in Ohio. Zero percent in Pennsylvania because this has been blown. And you have Republicans that tried very hard to open this party up and it has been ruined by Donald Trump's rhetoric, his tone, his temperament.
