On Fox and Friends on July 3, Counselor to President Trump Kellyanne Conway cited two separate MRC studies to point out the double standard in media coverage. “In a five-week period, 353 minutes on the three networks was committed to Russia, FBI, Comey; less than a minute to tax reform,” Conway said.
The MRC study, released on June 27, revealed that in the five weeks following the appointment of special counsel Robert Mueller, coverage of Russia took up 55 percent of all coverage of the Trump presidency on the evening news shows on ABC, CBS and NBC. In contrast, topics like the economy, jobs, trade policy, tax reform, and the war in Afghanistan each failed to garner more than five minutes of coverage.
Earlier in the segment, Conway referenced a separate study by analyst Nick Fondacaro, which revealed that on June 30, ABC and CBS failed to note the passage of Kate’s Law, choosing instead to focus on outrage over President Trump’s latest tweet.
