Hillary's standard shtick when asked about her private email server is to claim that it was "authorized" or "allowed" by the State Department. But Joe Scarborough has now contradicted her in stunning fashion.
On today's Morning Joe, Scarborough criticized John Dickerson for not challenging Hillary on the matter when interviewing her yesterday on Face the Nation. Said Scarborough: "CBS News knows if they have any sources at the State Department, CBS News knows that nobody at the State Department based on all of our sources at the State Department, nobody authorized it. She did it on her own."
Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski went on to describe the way Hillary's campaign carefully orchestrates her interviews. The pair said that Hillary stopped appearing on the show when they wouldn't agree to be "controlled."
JOE SCARBOROUGH: You see that interview? The Clinton team wrote the questions, obviously. That was stunning. It was stunning. She is asked on Face the Nation about who at the State Department -- she said the State Department authorized it. Dickerson didn't follow up with the question who at the State Department?
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Well that's because the campaign didn't allow that. This interview was set up so that certain questions on policy were required for a certain amount of time and then they could go into e-mails for a certain amount of time. And then -- believe me, it was textbook, planned out. I can see Jen Palmieri [Clinton communications director] and everybody all over that interview.
JOE: This happened before.
HAROLD FORD, JR.: You know this?
MIKA: This happened with two other network interviews. I do know it happens. And I know she won't come on -- I can tell you right now, the conversation with this show stopped because we were not controlled.
FORD: I got you.
JOE: And because we refused to be controlled.
MIKA: So it was a lovely interview, she --
JOE: The thing is CBS News knows --
MIKA: They cut deals.
JOE: CBS News knows, if they have any sources at the State Department, CBS News knows that nobody at the State Department based on all of our sources at the State Department, nobody authorized it. She did it on her own.
MIKA: It was allowed because she allowed it.
JOE: She allowed it. Nobody allowed it. She allowed it. So to not have follow-up questions on that. It was a stunning. I wasn't, I wasn't going to say anything.
MIKA: Maybe it will work for her.
JOE: But it was brought up. It was a stunning interview. A stunning interview and textbook on a campaign operation completely boxing in a Sunday morning show.
