Harris-Perry's Hilarious Excuse For Obama's 'If You Like It You Can Keep It' Lie

November 2nd, 2013 11:46 AM

Of all the lame attempts to explain away President Obama's oft-repeated Obamacare lie that "if you like your plan, you can keep it," Melissa Harris-Perry might have come up with the most hilarious: President Obama figured people wouldn't like it!

Yes, that's what MHP actually asserted on her MSNBC show this morning, claiming the Obama administration figured people wouldn't like their plans, and would clamor for the ones offered under Obamacare.  Of course the argument still leaves Obama as having lied. Even if if a majority of people with private plans didn't like them, that would still leave millions being forced out of plans they did like. So Obama would still have lied, albeit on a smaller scale.  View the video after the jump.

Well, I suppose MHP could be positing that President Obama figured that 100% of people wouldn't like their old plans.  Lovers of big government perhaps imagine that everyone exalts "the village" over personal freedom like they do.

MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY:  I feel sort of like part of what happened when the president said if you like your plan you can keep it, is there was an assumption in the administration that people wouldn't like that plan, like the plan that still forces them to pay thousands of dollars in out-of-pocket costs, that was so sort of bare-bones and people in fact wouldn't like it and would be wanting new plans. And now suddenly, at least you see on this concern-trolling that people did like those plans and wanted to keep them.
