On Friday’s Today show, NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt revealed the contents of a piece of paper President Trump handed to him at the beginning of their exclusive sit-down interview on Thursday. The document provided inconvenient facts that the liberal media have been trying desperately to ignore.
After re-airing a lengthy portion of Trump interview at the top of the morning show, co-host Savannah Guthrie wondered what the President had handed to Holt at the start of the exchange: “There’s a shot of you when you first walk in and it seems the President hands you a piece of paper. And of course the eagle-eyed viewer wants to know, what was that paper?”
Holt held up the paper in question and explained: “This was the paper. It was five pages of quotes of Democrats who have been critical of Comey. A few calling for his resignation, calling for his firing, being critical. There were about 20 quotes on here.” He then acknowledged: “And it makes a fair point that a lot of Democrats were not happy with Comey, either. Many believing that he torpedoed Hillary Clinton’s chances.”
Co-host Matt Lauer observed: “Unhappy with him [Comey] at first, then unhappy with his firing later.”
Despite being handed this clear evidence of Democratic hypocrisy over the firing of the FBI Director, Holt did not bring it up during the interview with the President, nor did he mention it during Thursday’s Nightly News broadcast.
Here is a transcript of the May 12 exchange on Today:

SAVANNAH GUTHRIE: It’s interesting, Lester. There’s a shot of you when you first walk in and it seems the President hands you a piece of paper. And of course the eagle-eyed viewer wants to know, what was that paper?
LESTER HOLT: This was the paper. It was five pages of quotes of Democrats who have been critical of Comey. A few calling for his resignation, calling for his firing, being critical. There were about 20 quotes on here. But the President wanted me to have that. And it makes a fair point that a lot of Democrats were not happy with Comey, either. Many believing that he torpedoed Hillary Clinton’s chances.
MATT LAUER: Unhappy with him at first, then unhappy with his firing later.
HOLT: Yeah.
GUTHRIE: But part of the reason why the White House thought this might not be so controversial.
HOLT: Yeah, I think, I got the sense, a lot of people got the sense they didn’t see quite this blowback coming. That this would be something that would be more universally applauded.
