In a gushy interview with Variety magazine, Hollywood entertainer Barbra Streisand revealed she still is very much suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome. Talking about the Parkland shooting, the singer and actress blamed the president, saying he inspired the shooter. “[He] brings out the violence in people!” she gushed. Streisand also bizarrely claimed the election was rigged and that Hillary Clinton was the one who actually won the election.
New York Bureau Chief for the entertainment outlet Ramin Setoodeh sat down with Streisand in her Malibu home, gushing about the “rare opportunity” to conduct an interview with the “Hollywood trailblazer for five decades.” The majority of the interview was about Streisand’s experience as a woman in Hollywood acting, writing, directing and producing films and the #MeToo movement, but the hardcore liberal did find time to attack President Trump and defend Hillary Clinton as well.
After speaking at length about the mistreatment of women in Hollywood and her negative experience with Harvey Weinstein, Variety’s Setoodeh made the connection of the infamous producer to the president.
“Speaking of which, Streisand has strong feelings about the president,” Setoodeh wrote.
Acknowledging that the “outspoken Democrat doesn’t miss an opportunity to eviscerate Donald Trump,” Streisand gushed, “He embodies the nasty remarks he makes about other people. He’s a liar. He’s crooked.”
“Everything he called Hillary, he is,” Streisand told the magazine, referring to Clinton’s “basket of deplorables” comment.
Variety noted that Streisand was actually on the campaign trail stumping for Clinton and still is a supporter.
After complaining that Hillary Clinton lost the election due to misogyny, and being “too smart,” the entertainer admitted she believes in conspiracy theories that the election was rigged:
In fact, she’s not convinced that Trump beat Clinton. “I really believe she won the election,” Streisand says. “I’ve talked to senators from Michigan and Wisconsin. I do believe, like I believed during Bush, they were playing with those voter machines. And [Al Gore] lost by 537 votes out of 104 million. And now, in retrospect, Bush looks quite good compared to Trump. At least he’s not mean-spirited. He’s not a guy who is retaliating for what Obama did at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.”
Streisand went on from there to claim Trump was responsible for the latest horrific school shooting.
“I think even that shooter was affected because Trump brings out the violence in people. He says, ‘It’s OK — rally, lock her up,’” she told Variety.
