Once again, ABC’s Matthew Dowd has proved that even Twitter can’t keep him from saying something so stupid in so few words. Responding to FNC’s Shannon Bream tweet announcing that she was going to be talking to Franklin Graham about the increasing persecution of Christians across the world, Dowd bitterly brought up anti-Muslim “persecution” in the United States as the real issue we should be talking about.
ABC’s chief political analyst and a self described “Catholic” bitterly slammed the idea that Christians are persecuted across the world, calling Muslim “persecution” in the United States, a “bigger issue” and “bigger problem.”
@ShannonBream @toddstarnes @Franklin_Graham @FoxNews @AmericaNewsroom Maybe you can talk about the bigger problem which is persecution of Muslims in America and around the globe. Bigger issue.

The Free Beacon’s Alex Griswold mocked Dowd’s tweet and rightly noted the difference between converting to Islam in America vs. converting to Christianity in a Muslim-majority country.
I really hate to give away spoilers, but one will get you killed. Usually in a gruesome fashion, usually by the government.

The absurdity of Dowd’s tweet needs no explanation to any reasonable person, but apparently liberal analysts on ABC are not reasonable people.
Newsflash Mr. Dowd, are Muslims worshipping in underground mosques in the United States? Do they face stoning or beheading for their allegiance to Allah? Are their mosques bombed routinely on their most holy day of the year? No? Then maybe the level of “persecution” you mention isn’t really persecution at all and you shouldn’t be dismissing some of the really horrific things happening around the world to Christians.
