When it comes to softball questions Bernie Sanders has had his fill from cable and network hosts alike but they’d all be hard-pressed to top Comedy Central’s Larry Wilmore’s slow-pitch to the socialist senator when he asked: “Are you Jesus?”
Appearing on the April 13 edition of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, Sanders was greeted with a friendly sitdown that included the following exchange:
LARRY WILMORE, HOST: You used to be a carpenter. Is that right?
SEN. BERNIE SANDERS: Well, I used to help out in...
WILMORE: Help out a carpenter?
SANDERS: I wouldn’t want to go too far on that.
WILMORE: And you’re Jewish?
SANDERS: Yes. Ha! I get where you’re going!
WILMORE: I’m just saying. And the Pope loves you. Right?
SANDERS: Right.
WILMORE: Millions of people come to hear you speak your sermons on mounts. Are you Jesus?”
