At the end of Tuesday's Erin Burnett Outfront on CNN, the show ran a full two-minute report by correspondent Jeanne Moos which took parting shots and mocked General Michael Flynn over his resignation as the Trump administration National Security Advisor.
Detailing social media users who have piled on jokes about how soon he was forced out, Moos noted that one of Kim Kardashian's short-lived marriages lasted longer, and included a snide tweet from someone citing fungal infections.
Here's Moos: "Sure, everyone is making the same joke, but it does put things in perspective. This lasted longer than Michael Flynn's tenure: Kim Kardashian's marriage to Chris Humphreys survived 72 days -- three times as long as the general did. Tweeted someone: 'I once had a fungal infection that lasted longer than Flynn.'"
At 7:58 p.m. ET, host Erin Burnett set up the piece: "Michael Flynn was on the job for 23 days. Kim Kardashian's first marriage lasted three times as long. Wow. Here's Jeanne Moos."
After beginning the report by recalling Flynn's rapid departure, Moos added:
So, naturally, the internet decided to document "Things That Last Longer Than Flynn." For instance: "I have food in my fridge that lasted longer than Michael Flynn." Someone else said "my diet" lasted longer. So does Amazon's return policy, which happens to be 30 days, Flynn lasted only 23.
She then noted that dragonflies have a longer lifespan before continuing:

After recalling that one of David Blaine's stunts lasted longer, the CNN correspondent concluded:
Blaine survived but lost 55 pounds while Flynn will no longer be throwing his weight around. They used to say, "You're in like Flynn." Now it's "in and out." Jeanne Moos, CNN, New York.
Appearing amused, Burnett commented: "That does sort of change that whole 'in like Flynn.' thing, doesn't it?"
Such gloating on CNN about General Flynn's departure should not be surprising given the news network's history of fearmongering over his views.
In November, CNN used selectively edited clips from two of General Flynn's speeches to read the most negative interpretation into his speeches about radical Islam, as CNN repeatedly pushed the claim that he was calling all of Islam a "cancer" when a basic researching of his other appearances would have debunked this distorted interpretation.
Below is a complete transcript of the report from the Tuesday, February 14, Erin Burnett Outfront on CNN:

ERIN BURNETT: Michael Flynn was on the job for 23 days. Kim Kardashian's first marriage lasted three times as long. Wow. Here's Jeanne Moos.
JEANNE MOOS: General Michael Flynn went from being sworn in to being forced out so fast-
CBS THIS MORNING's GAYLE KING: -after less than a month in office-
UNIDENTIFIED FNC REPORTER: This is the shortest tenure of any National Security Advisor-
CBS THIS MORNING's NORAH O'DONNELL: -in modern history.
MOOS: So, naturally, the internet decided to document "Things That Last Longer Than Flynn." For instance: "I have food in my fridge that lasted longer than Michael Flynn." Someone else said "my diet" lasted longer. So does Amazon's return policy, which happens to be 30 days, Flynn lasted only 23.
Even dragonflies with a lifespan of a mere four months outlast the general. "The roll of paper towels in my kitchen lasted longer than Mike Flynn."
Sure, everyone is making the same joke, but it does put things in perspective. This lasted longer than Michael Flynn's tenure: Kim Kardashian's marriage to Chris Humphreys survived 72 days -- three times as long as the general did. Tweeted someone: "I once had a fungal infection that lasted longer than Flynn."
Noted another: "In fact, milk bought when he assumed his role may still be good." But only if it was ultrapasteurized. You could bet a car air freshener could outlive Flynn. Posted someone: "I'm pretty sure at least one David Blaine stunt lasted longer." Bingo. Blaine starved himself in a Plexiglass cube suspended over London for 44 days. Blaine survived but lost 55 pounds while Flynn will no longer be throwing his weight around. They used to say, "You're in like Flynn." Now it's "in and out." Jeanne Moos, CNN, New York.
BURNETT: That does sort of change that whole "in like Flynn." thing, doesn't it?
