Open Thread: Pelosi Daughter Says Mom Wants to Leave Congress

By NB Staff | December 29, 2011 | 12:07

A  A

Despite the left's newfound embrace of class-warfare and the politics of envy, in the U.S. House of Representatives, Democrats are being led by one of the richest people in America, Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco. That may not be a long-term trend, though, if you consider what her daughter, a journalist and documentary film-maker, said recently--that her mother wants to leave Congress:

She would retire right now, if the donors she has didn’t want her to stay so badly. They know she wants to leave, though. They think she’s destined for the wilderness. She has very few days left. She’s 71, she wants to have a life, she’s done. It’s obligation, that’s all I’m saying.

That's quite a stunning thing for a member of Congress's daughter to say about her, particularly to conservative journalist, Jeffrey Scott Shapiro, writing at Big Government. It's starting to look as though Pelosi may retire should Democrats do poorly in the 2012 races. What are your thoughts?

BHO's inheritance

Submitted by deadeyedan on Thu, 12/29/2011 - 12:13pm.

Our misanthropic president always claims to have inherited such a dismal economy.

Did he notice that it started to tank once Pelosi took over in early 2007? But he always blames Bush, doesn't he.

Good riddance, Nancy, you rich bitch.

She should have retired (or been retired) years ago. But now
shes made her money on the backs of the American taxpayer,
used the laws for her specific purposes and stuck the knife in
all of our backs, even her own liberal buddies. They just haven't
figured it out yet.

The NY Slimes has gone too

Submitted by ricklail on Thu, 12/29/2011 - 12:37pm.

The NY Slimes has gone too far this time. They have insulted southern cooking, Paula Deen and Cracker Barrel.  They have the nerve to call red beans and rice Hoppin' John. Real Hoppin' is made from black eyed peas and rice. Red beans and rice is Cajun. Hoppin' John is a creation of the folks that live in the low country of South Carolina.  There is nothing cheap about fried chicken. I grew up on it. Real southern fried chicken is fried in hog lard not Crisco.

Grits and Shrimp? Grits are for mixing in with your over easy eggs and sausage gravy.

By the way, my New Year's day meal will remain like it always has. Blackeyed peas with a ham hock or fatback cooked in, some kind of greens like fried cabbage, mustard greens, or collards, all cooked in fat back grease and Jiffy cornbread mix. Some country ham that been salt and brown sugar cured.

A well regulated militia being necessary to a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

As a fellow and very proud born and bred Southerner, this really p#$%ed me off, pardon my language! Those fools don't know nor will they ever understand or appreciate how fabulous freshly baked cornbread smells, or how sinfully delicious a plateful of fried catfish or creamy grits taste, or how yummy hushpuppies are, or how beautiful a warm, sultry Southern summer evening is. Makes me so homesick I could cry...

The he!! with the NYT and their pompous, snotty elitism.

After spending six months in Latin America, Cracker Barrell was one of the first places we hit "on the road" home. I don't remember what we ordered, but oh my, it tasted like home.

I think the problem with the elitists at the NYT is that they are fat-deprived, seeing how Bloomie has prohibited restaurants from serving much of that wonderful stuff. Idiots.

Submitted by killa37 on Thu, 12/29/2011 - 12:58pm.

That's an interesting article, BK...........and Boy Barry's new best friend is a BANKER??? Wasn't he just throwing his support behind the OWS bowel movement??? Doesn't he 'hate' banks and bankers???? Oh, wait, he wants another 1.2 trillion - maybe he can get it somewhere else besides a bank???

He golfs with lower level staffers........well, at least they won't tell him how crappy he is, and they won't bring up anything of consequense to talk about either.

He doesn't really like other politicians - regardless of their party - unless they're doing something that makes him look good. Well, he's always complaining about the way things get done (or don't get done) in Washington DC, and how he was going to be the 'new breed' of politician............but I think it has more to do with the fact that he wants what he wants, and he doesn't think that anyone should challenge him.............it's no surprise that he has little use for Congress or the Supreme Court, unless they are 'getting his back'

And when you have a heavyweight like Jimmah Cahtah's communications director (now THERE'S a resume enhancer!!!) getting on your case about being aloof or distant, you KNOW you're busted!!!

He'd rather watch sports than keep up on current events??? Hell, we knew that!!! This guy wanted to be President - he just didn't want to have to work, once he got there. It's easy to figure out why he doesn't use Camp David - it's too close and too convenient - and you KNOW that Moooooooooooochelle doesn't like it there. And they've turned the White House into party central, from what I can tell.

I'm sure he misses Reggie..........he probably gave Boy Barry some good and relaxing massages after their basketball games, and I'm sure that Reggie let Barry score a few points with his legendary left-handed hook shot.

Oh, yeah..........I just read that Barry had bacon wrapped pork loin the other night over in Honolulu - at $75 a pop. Not a bad snack for the 'middle class warrior' - which I always interpretted as making war on the middle class. And, hey..........I thought that moooooooooooooooslems weren't allowed to eat swine!!! Ahhh.........Barry is only a moooooooooooooslem when he needs to be, just like everything else in his life.

Submitted by ant on Thu, 12/29/2011 - 2:04pm.

Who needs a 747 in prison? I'm completely serious on this point. The woman deserves time in an orange jumpsuit, if for violation of oath of office alone. We the People really need to start holding our reps accountable for their misdeeds and malfeasance and establishing due punishment for such offenses. They would punish the average citizen for crimes 1/10th as destructive as those they, themselves, commit. Hell, as just one example, DHS is scanning twitter, and other public media for keywords which would afford them the privilege of then searching identity and info of any American citizen. The entire population should be outraged by this kind of thing. Insider trading, Pelosi's guilty on numerous counts of IPO bribery before a Bill comes to the floor....instead we have a media trying to outrage people with stones that used to read 'Niggerhead', and Tim Tebow's faith. Enough already,...before the guilty all retire into luxury on our stolen dime... I'll pull the lever on the gallows myself.

Along comes 2 Commucrat legislators that don't seem to want to point out any good thing about SC. They will be introducing a bill to forbid state employees to use the greeting because of over 5% unemployment and all state residents don't have health insurance. I don't figure it will go anywhere. This is grandstanding by the Commucrats. The only thing they know to do.

Ron Paul: Sanctions against Iran are 'acts of war'

Got that right BK! Hay Paul what did iran do in 1979?

Submitted by upcountrywater on Thu, 12/29/2011 - 4:05pm.

The Islamic Republic of Iran declared war on the United States and Israel in 1979. They have since taken Americans hostage. They have murdered Americans in Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Afghanistan. They have funded Hezbollah, Hamas, the PLO and other terrorist organizations that have murdered Israelis. They are developing nuclear weapons and the missiles to deliver them. Now, it appears the Iranian government has tried to launch a deadly terrorist operation on American soil — in our nation’s capital. Yet Iran has never paid a real price for any of these acts of war.

They do not simply seek to repudiate or humiliate; they seek to annihilate.

Sorry, it is very much true.  In his view, if we hermetically seal off the United States in every possible way from the Outside World, virtually all problems will be solved.  And in everything he has said, he has shown me that he views this country as the world's biggest problem.  Once it withdraws from the world, in Paul's view, world peace will break out everywhere.

Well, except for one thing: in Paul's view, all of the world's problems can be traced to TWO countries: the United States and Israel.  \

I posted elsewhere that a lot of the information collected will probably be forwarded to Eric Holder so he can use it to intimidate and harass law enforcement agencies that arrest the illegal invaders.

donars don't want her to quit?

Submitted by MidAmerica on Thu, 12/29/2011 - 9:10pm.

Are they saying the people who have bought Pelosi's votes are wanting their money's worth ?

Or is Her Majesty playing a game here by manipulating donors who are hoping to change her mind by giving her more money but Pelosi' quits anyway and then converts the campaign donations to personal use.

Besides if Pelosi is in a safe district and no serious challenge is possible then the only reason for large campaign donations is not for campaign needs but simply the buying of influence.

If you give a politician a chunk of money to influence their voting and they spend it for personal use or put it in their personal bank account then the politician is guilty of bribery.  But if the donation goes to the campaign account and is unspent when the politician retires then it's perfectly legal to buy their vote.
