Open Thread: What's Next for Herman Cain?
While ideas for Herman Cain's future have been tossed around - including hosting a TV show - Cain knows that he will not be running again for office in the near future, blaming the harmful "false accusations" of "lazy journalism."
According to an interview with the Daily Caller, Cain said "he doesn’t regret running for the White House, saying his 9-9-9 tax reform plan sparked a discussion among the GOP candidates about reforming the tax system," and added that if the media hadn't been so caught up in the accusations, he "would be the front-runner heading into Iowa, absolutely."
What do you think Cain's future will involve? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
In the meantime, many are looking to Cain to endorse a Republican presidential candiate.
...Cain said he plans to eventually endorse, but doesn’t want to do it until “emotions subside.” [...]
Asked to assess the race, Cain said among his “biggest frustrations” are the “negative attacks” in the campaign “going on in Iowa right now and across this country.”
Without going into specifics, Cain said, “The negative stuff is what almost pushes me to endorse earlier, but I’m not going to.”
According to the Daily Caller, Cain will launch a new initiative in January to promote tax reform and his approach to foreign policy. When asked about possibly serving as secretary of defense, Cain explained, "You don’t need to have defense expertise. You don’t even need to have military expertise. You need to have leadership expertise. That’s what I would bring to that job." On the topic of hosting a TV show, Cain said he hadn't yet been approached, but would consider the possibility.
Who do you think Cain will endorse and what do you think is next for him?

He gave it a shot, but he couldn't overcome his vulnerabilities, and I believe it left a bad taste in his mouth. Despite his short-lived frontrunner status, he was never a strong candidate.
But who knows? He may have been encouraged by the process, and will go back to re-tool himself into a better candidate.

Question.......where are the sluts that accused Mr. Cain? Where is the Allred creature? Just asking.
Herman Cain will continue to speak out on issues. Radio show? I doubt a TV show, but hopefully he will appear as a guest. His common sense and core values are needed today more than ever. 9-9-9 has proved to be a generator of discussion during this election cycle.
I sense he will not endorse anyone.
I particularly liked his quote in answer to a media moron asking him if the Tea Party is racist. His response: "If the Tea Party is racist, how come a black guy (Cain) wins all their straw polls?"
Herman Cain was the anti-obama and therefore he had to be destroyed. The well used, blowsy blond aids from Chicago started the ball rolling - backed by Allred. Then others popped up out from under their rocks. After this group, along with the vermin in the media did their dirty work, Cain was finished. Then they all disappeared back into the slime from which they crawled. A sad commentary on our present day society.
God bless you, Herman Cain.
Let him commentate.

He's a good contributor with regard to subjects that are in his wheelhouse.
Unfortunately, there were foreign-policy chinks in his armor; combined with a reticence to directly engage volleys of withering accusations (and it's hard to blame him), those were daunting obstacles for anyone to overcome.
He could've used more "I didn't do anything, they're flat-out lying, either have them put up or shut up," and much less "Um, I have to have a meeting with my wife. On Friday."
I like the man. Would've enthusiastically campaigned for him, had he been the Republican nominee. Sorry it didn't work out.

My daughter was the recipient of one of those people anonymously paying off lay a ways. She is in Indiana visiting her in laws. Her mother in law had gone to K-Mart and put some toys on lay a way for the kids back in November. She went to a store in Kentucky to pick them up and was told it was paid. She ask if she could pay for someone's lay a way. They told her the person who paid for her's had paid for all the toys on lay a way.

Come Jan 3rd over the road truckers will no longer be allowed to talk on a cell phone while driving. This is a federal rule. So local law enforcement will be required to carry this out. States will have to write a law based on the rule.
Several states have written immigration laws based on federal law yet they can not enforce them thanks to the lying Holder and his Injustice Dept.
To me this is hypocritcal.
The Intolerance of the Left . . .
Submitted by Kylerk on Fri, 12/23/2011 - 12:49pm.
I'm not sure what's next for him, but since he was a victim of it himself, I'd like to see Mr. Cain do something that focuses on the intolerance of the left. A FoxNews show would be nice.
This is one of the issues that those of us on the right don't do a very good job of conveying to the independents that we are trying to sway. We maintain the ideology of Lincoln and Jesus Christ, and they the ideology of -- the KKK, Hitler, Mao, and Stalin - how did today’s perception of each of our ideologies become the total opposite of historical truth? The left shows open hatred, insensitivity, and intolerance towards – Catholics, Christians, Jews, and female and minority members of the GOP, and they never get challenged. Not to mention - the minorities that they claim to help. Why do we let them get away with it? Let’s put Bill Maher, Rosie O’Donnell, and the rest, in the crosshairs when they attack instead of being on the defensive.
During his recent run for the GOP Presidential nomination, the bigoted remarks against Mr. Cain and his race by members of the liberal intelligentsia and others on the left were well-documented and for the most part – kept from the public. This places him in the perfect position to lead the charge against them, and I imagine he is very motivated to do so.

Just another day in corrupt Democrat politics.
California’s Democratic representatives got much of what they wanted from the 2010 redistricting cycle, especially in the northern part of the state. “Every member of the Northern California Democratic Caucus has a ticket back to DC,” said one enthusiastic memo written as the process was winding down. “This is a huge accomplishment that should be celebrated by advocates throughout the region.”
Best Christmas Cookie Recipe Ever
Submitted by Dave. on Fri, 12/23/2011 - 4:50pm.
Ingredients:
1 cup of water
lemon juice
1 tsp. baking soda
4 large eggs
1 cup of sugar
1 cup nuts
1 tsp. salt
2 cups of dried fruit
1 cup brown sugar
1 bottle Jack Daniels Whiskey
Sample the Jack Daniels to check quality. Take a large bowl, check the Jack Daniels again to be sure it is of the highest quality, pour one level cup and drink.
Turn on the electric mixer…Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add one teaspoon of sugar… Beat again. At this point it’s best to make sure the Jack Daniels is still OK, try another cup…just in case.
Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit, Pick the frigging fruit off floor…Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry it loose with a drewscriver. Sample the Jack Daniels to check for tonsisticity.
Next, sift two cups of salt, or something. Check the Jack Daniels. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find. Greash the oven.
Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over. Don’t forget to beat off the turner. Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish the Dack Janiels and make sure to put the stove in the dishwasher.

I am still furious
Submitted by gopcongress on Fri, 12/23/2011 - 5:14pm.
I am still furious at the process. I believe Herman Cain would not only have been the favorite for Iowa, but would have been the prohibitive favorite for the entire primary process, as well as the general election.
I cannot even begin to fathom Cain's family's pain from the entire process. But part of the problem was that Cain did not have an effective campaign team. If Cain had a weakness, it was not putting together a campaign team that effectively weathered bogus charges. While his campaign was unique in modern history, insofar as he is a true government outsider (as in not being PART of the government), I believe in hindsight he should have included many seasoned campaign operatives to help.
In particular, he should have hired a savvy media manager. Not a PR guy, but an actual media wonk who understands the MISSION of the mainstream media, recognizing it not as a thorn but an active agent against his nomination bid. This media rep should have been able to deflect the charges on an immediate basis. These charges cannot be handled in the same manner that a corporate president handles them, and a savvy media expert would have been able to deflect much of the accusations.
Remember, this attack on Cain was NOT "reactive." It was a SUSTAINED, PLANNED operation by the Left to take out the most dangerous candidate to their cause. Note how EVERY aspect of the entire process was leaked, slowly, for maximum effect, at the times most likely to work. By "most dangerous," I mean the one candidate who would ACTUALLY become the nominee to go against Obama.
But that is neither here nor there. The Left had won their greatest victory of the decade (INCLUDING passing Obamacare) by taking out Herman Cain the way they did. No matter how you feel about Cain the candidate, one cannot deny that the media is absolutely, positively, 100% in favor of the most liberal democratic candidate possible, and that the mainstream media adheres more to the writings of the Communist Manifesto than the Federation Papers.

Perry not on the VA primary ballot
Submitted by bkeyser on Fri, 12/23/2011 - 10:26pm.
Newt had 800 less signatures than Perry. Bachmann, Huntsman and Santorum are already disqualified. How does this happen?
Looks like Virginia primary voters have only Romney and Paul to choose from. I think at this point it's safe to say that Romney has this thing sewn up; it'll be a Romney vs Obama battle next summer.
Any bets on Romney's VP selection? I'm pretty confident it won't be Newt or Perry... Bachmann?
[Edit] Newt made it. It's a three-man race for Virginia's delegates.
I was not happy....
Submitted by GregE on Fri, 12/23/2011 - 10:44pm.
........when that was on the front page of my newspaper this morning here in VA. Our Primary is March 6, and I heard yesterday that by end of February, only 20% of the delegates would be accounted for, leaving a HUGE number still to be gained. What were these 3 doing? Do they think that by March 6 it wouldn't matter and they'd either be out, or leading big?
In a general election, the east coast votes are not reported until west coast is finished voting, so that there is no influence. I want the Primary system to work the same way. Put every stinkin state on the same day, just like the general election, and don't report the results until all 50 states are DONE. No influence of previous states..........no more being done just because you come in 4th in Iowa and New Hampshire. It's nonsense. You're out because subsequent states' voters will be INFLUENCED by what they just saw. The sheeple jump over to vote for the leader instead of for whom they may otherwise want to vote.
And now Perry is out too..

I was all for Cain, but he knew what he had to hide and went ahead with a run. If he had become the nominee and this stuff had come out in August of 2012, we would have gotten 4 more years of Obama. Pure selfishness on Cain's part. I never want to see or hear him again.
