Open Thread: No Joking About Michelle's 'Posterior'
Politico reports Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.) sent a note of apology Thursday to Michelle Obama for referring to her “large posterior” and “big butt.”
Sensenbrenner was overheard talking about the first lady’s healthy food initiative — and her “large posterior” — on Wednesday in the Delta Crown lounge at Reagan National Airport, FishbowlDC reported, saying he's "known for his cantankerous ways and for not speaking to media unless it’s his idea." He was apparently easily exposed as he "said loudly on the phone" that Obama “lectures us on eating right while she has a large posterior herself.” Would these sites be this solicitious of the FLOTUS when she belongs to the Other Party?

I remember when they were playing.........I was living way up in a remote valley out here, and the only movie theatre on this island was in town, which is halfway around the island.............and, well, I just never got around to it!!! I've never been too fascinated by 'science-fiction', although I'll admit to watching '2001 - A Space(d) Odyssey', under the severe influence of a strong dose of good LSD!!! Maybe that's the reason!!!
Oh..........there finally was a WalMart built over here a few years ago, so I have been in it - but not very many times - it's in town too!!! Hahahahahaha!!! And it seems to always be filled up with people who don't have much to do, and have a lot of time on their hands. When I go to town - it's only because I need to - and I wait until I have a list of errands and tasks and stops to make, and then it's just KABOOM!!!! I drive in there, I do my list as quickly as possible, and then I try and get out of there without wasting any more time............after all, there might be some surf out here!!!

But I have a good story that I just read out of Oahu - where Mooooooooochie has been staying, with the kids and the whole entourage, out on the windward side. One local resident gave a thumbs down assessment to Boy Barry's performance, when asked by a reporter, and she wasn't real happy about having her car searched every time she went in and out of her street. But another lady was all excited when she made eye contact with Mooooooooooochie as the cavalcade caravan was driving by. And she said that Mooooooooooooochie smiled at her...........but then she said that she was embarrassed, because she was carrying a McDonalds bag, and she knows what a stickler the Clydesdale is for health and good eating habits. Now, I did the math on this statement, and my own answer is that Moooooooooooochie was smiling at the sight of seeing the McDonald's bag, and couldn't care less about this lady!!!

In fact, I expected it. I mean I knew it was too easy when they did the repeal of the ban on lightbulbs, but they can't do something that has just as much if not more of an effect, which is making us spend more money or lose more money?? Puh-LEEZ!
I didn't think it would come to this, but as much as I'm sick of the bogus potus, I'm almost equally sick of Bonehead and Can't-do-it. Those guys are just absolute cowards even when they have the very blatantly obvious clear upper hand!!
I've already given up hope. I'm just biding time and seeing what happens. I've already lost half my savings in the last few months thanks to increased prices on pretty much everything, just when I was starting to gain a foothold and start having a bit of stability right before the summer by not living paycheck to paycheck. Now it's back to that again. Fun while it lasted!

I remember reading a book called "Not Without My Daughter" by Betty Mahmoody. She went to Iran with her husband in the 80's (he was a national), and he refused to let her and her husband leave. Anyway, in the book she described the animosity Iran and Iraq felt for one another due to the long war they were engaged in. The fact they could become allied does not bode well for us, and it does surprise me, at any rate.

It's the same thing with Drudge and the attacks he gets from the Left. The Drudge Report has nothing but links. Most are the exact headline, others are snarky takes on the subject matter, but outside of the link title, there is absolutely no commentary by Matt Drudge. I'm not accusing you, but I've seen and heard prominent Democrats and Progressives call out The Drudge Report by name as a propaganda website for the Right. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Personally, I think you ought to pick another site when you're using it as an example of source ridicule. Just an observation.

Here they published a quote by Obama that was so stunningly misleading and out of context that it can only be characterized as a deliberate lie. WZ then labled Obama an "insensitive prick", which incited the following remarks from the intellectual giants in the WZ comment section:

I don't frequent WZ so I'm not familiar with any of the bolded excerpts you've listed, but again, they posted two stories that had a calendar relationship and interjected a bombastic commentary. Big deal. It doesn't make the reporting from MSNBC or WaPo wrong or irrelevant, right? Markos Zúniga runs a site that is filled with hateful commentary and this guy appears on national television to spew his gutless, progressive propaganda - meaning that at least MSNBC considers what's posted on his site is mainstream and/or reasonable dialog. If it's okay for Kos, it should be okay for WZ.
Besides, my point wasn't that people should or shouldn't express their views about the guy that resides in the White House, it was simply to say that there are pure-commentary blogs out there that are more ripe for your "source" issue than WZ. If I were to quote a piece from WaPo that I found through a RT of a WZ piece, than sourcing WZ wouldn't be either out of line or unreliable provided the WaPo piece was appropriately linked there. Personally, I try to always source the original source when I link things here; i.e., I might find something interesting on HotAir (like the Perry ineligible for the VA primary comment in today's OT) but when I provided the link, I used the WaPo link that was noted in the Headlines, and the local paper link in the edit (via Twitter). Still, had I linked to HotAir, it wouldn't change the story, regardless of whether you think Allahpundit is too partisan to consider legitimate. (Although, if you haven't read Ap, I suspect you might like his commentary more so than most others from our side.)

Not only are the ones I posted vile, but they were provoked by WZ's inexcusably and maliciously dishonest portrayal of Obama's actions around the time of the destructive tornadoes in the southeast earlier this year. Do you think it is proper to source that kind of revolting reporting--cobbling together an actual quote with an actual photo but completely misrepresenting the time line so that a patently false impression is left with the reader?...And tossing in a nice little descriptive vulgarity to boot? That is journalistic fraud at its very worst, and I can't believe you would endorse it.
The sludge at dKos is the reason I stopped visiting that website. HuffPo's cleaning up its comment section is one reason I now frequent it. And yes I like Allahpundit and Glenn Reynolds--especially since he is a professor at the law school where I obtained my degree.
By the way, if Arianna Huffington labeled George Bush or Paul Ryan or Dick Cheney an "insensitive prick" it would be the subject of at least five separate NB blogs and the thundering outrage would be deafening.

Are you saying the excerpted bolds were in the comment section? I assumed they were some of WZ snarky commentary. I can't imagine you're talking about comments left be readers- I never even consider those when I'm talking about a particular website's relevance.
Now, if they are actual commentary from the purveyor of WZ, then, depending on the context, they could be on the verge of being over the top, or all the way there. However, if they were said in jest, and clearly meant that way, well, there have been a lot of comedians on late-nite tv that have said pretty much the same about Bush. Again, I don't want to get in a -they did it to Bush- battle, the point is, does a website offer unvetted reporting or incendiary commentary alone, or do they provide the links and let the reader make up their own mind? We've all seen examples here when one of the bloggers reads something one way then writes about, only to find a significant portion of the readership disagree with that assessment; that's only possible if the subject matter is linked. From what I've seen, WZ provides links in virtually every one of their posts.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall you ever objecting to an NB blogger's or regular member's allusion to offensive comments appearing at a lib website.
What WZ did in this particular instance was to give the distinct impression that Obama had--with foreknowledge of the death and destruction caused by the southeastern storms--completely ignored the catastrophe and instead uttered frivolous happy talk at a political fundraiser. That was a malicious, deliberate, and contemptible misrepresentation. Or, at the very least, it was a reckless failure to check the timeline of Obama's remarks and compare it with the trajectory of the storms and the timing of the eventual damage reports. [He didn't know, and couldn't have known, about the scope of the tragedy--nor of any deaths--at the time of the brief speech which WZ referenced.] And yet EVERY SINGLE WZ COMMENTER bought into the lie--which was clearly WZ's objective. There's no way you can or will defend that type of gutter journalism. I know you better than that. I know you are better than that.
