Bozell Contrasts Media 'Avalanche' Over Anonymous Cain Allegations with Paltry Coverage of Clinton Sexual Harassment
"With Herman Cain, let's remember here, Sean, we have nobody on the record, we have no specific allegation of anything that's happened," NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell noted on last night's Hannity, contrasting the "avalanche" of Cain coverage with the minimal coverage the networks gave to Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey, and Juanita Broaddrick's allegations of sexual harassment and, in the latter case, rape. [video of "Media Mash" follows the page break; MP3 audio available here]
"With Herman Cain, in three days you've got 50 network news stories," Bozell noted, contrasting the coverage with when Paula Jones "held a press conference and laid out" how Clinton "had exposed himself and told her to perform oral sex on him." Despite that press conference, Jones "got 16 seconds on one network and that was it," the Media Research Center founder noted.
Likewise, Kathleen Willey's allegation of Clinton groping her got just three network stories when the news broke. Broaddrick's serious allegation of rape also got just three network stories, Bozell reminded Hannity viewers.

Slick Willy also lied under oath to a grand jury (and two depositions). That didn't stop every Democratic senator to vote to keep him in office after being impeached.

there is proof of an agreement, not necessarily a settlement. there is a huge difference.

Newbusters: Exposing Liberal Media Bias
Submitted by lotr on Fri, 11/04/2011 - 1:06pm.
Q.E.D.
Now I'm going to add another "furthermore" to that of Brent Bozwell's.
We often hear from the resident NB lib-apologists that the media will have a double standard when it comes to Democrat versus Republican because of the so-called "hypocrisy factor." For example, sex scandals by social-conservatives tend on getting "more" (as in orders of magnitude more) coverage because of the hypocrisy element. Social conservatives are held to a higher standard when it comes to things like adultery.
Now, while I still object to this, namely hypocrisy being a condition for reporting a story, given that "hypocrisy" is a value judgment (yes liberals, when you claim someone is hypocritical, you are in fact judging them according to your morality), let's just assume "fair enough" for the moment.
What this means is that not only is there media bias, but it's double that as what might be estimated from Mr. Bozwell's 50 to 3 (or whatever the numbers are) comparison against Bill Clinton.
Stringent sexual harassment laws are the result of liberal politicians of the mold of Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton (D) et al. are the champions of the "zero tolerance sexual harassment" doctrine. Conservatives, generally speaking, tend on having the attitude of "grow a thicker skin" when it comes to this sort of thing, and tend on being more lenient against any would be perp, rationalizing that boys will be boys, and women can hold their own, and we don't need Big Government to micromanage human interactions.
Thus, in the case of Cain versus Clinton, not only are the numbers way off in terms of amount of reporting, they are actually lopsided. If media bias were primarily rooted in the so-called "hypocrisy factor," then the numbers should've been the other way around, as Bill Clinton was the unmitigated Hypocrite with a capital H.
Therefore, I am forced to conclude the the media bias has absolutely nothing to do with the so-called "hypocrisy factor" -- the bias is political. End of story.

disagree with the arguments made in the posts here, but I must say that you are getting it right with this.
The MSM commentators are really hounding this one and didn't show the same zeal with the Clinton accusations.

Be Grateful The MSM Coveruped The Clintons' Affairs

First and most important it provided the channel for the Drudge Report and other Internet News sites explosive growth. Without the MSM covering up the most important stories in America it could have taken another five years for Internet News to reach its current size.
Second, my mother had to explain to her seventy year old aunt what a blow job was. The history of the Clintons is sordid enough detailed coverage is best missing from the school history books.
Third, if there were more detail it could have been the best parts of history to the Beeves and Butthead segment of the population. I still expect one or two more books and a Porn movie of the Clinton administration.

Report [which read like an R-rated romance novel with interludes of steamy, titillating prose and was rush-published on the internet by civic-minded Republican "Guardians of Public Morality" determined to ensure immediate and maximum exposure].
I would love to see Bozell's data and methodology. If there were a near media black-out of Clinton's affairs in the 90's, it's news to me. They appeared to be rather well-covered where I lived, beginning with Gennifer Flowers prior to the 1992 election. And, by any standard of measurement, the Lewinsky reporting reached "frenzy" levels.

I have heard that the "Starr Report" was EXCLUSIVELY about the Whitewater scandal and that he treated the rest of Clinton's highly questionable activities as outside his purview.
I tried to find it myself at my library, but without success. I have not yet found a person who has actually read it. Have you?

from wiki:
In September 1998 Independent Counsel Starr released the famous Starr Report, concerning offenses alleged to have been committed by President Clinton as part of the Lewinsky scandal. As it dealt exclusively with the Lewinsky scandal, it mentioned Whitewater only in passing, save for a glancing reference that longtime Clinton friend and advisor Vernon Jordan had both tried to find Monica Lewinsky a job after her removal from White House internship and tried to help Webster Hubbell financially with "no-show" consulting contracts while he was under pressure to cooperate with the Whitewater investigations.[26] Indeed it was on this basis that Starr took on the Lewinsky investigation under the umbrella of the Whitewater Independent Counsel mandate in the first place.[26] [my emphasis in bold]
I have only read excerpts of the Report. Nor do I personally know anyone who has read it in its entirety.

“…by any standard of measurement, the Lewinsky reporting reached "frenzy" levels.”
I would agree that that is what eventually occurred, especially after the blue dress materialized.
There is no suggestion that there is a blue dress here, however. In fact, the allegations rumored so far are so pathetic they appropriately constitute allegations about our hyper-PC / hyper-litigious society (in addition to the extreme hypocrisy of the MSM, of course).
In any case, what we have here in the MSM trying to create the frenzy before the facts.
By the way, time was when Politico was trying to differentiate itself from the MSM. Well, that pretense is completely gone.
