Oct. 20 'Media Mash': Media Pushing Obama to 'Embrace' 'Occupy Wall Street' Class-warfare Message

By NB Staff | October 21, 2011 | 10:25

A  A

While the liberal media are increasingly counseling Obama to co-opt the class-warfare message of Occupy Wall Street (OWS), the fact of the matter is the president's policies are left-wing enough already.

"Obama's administration has been pushing an agenda that has been constantly against corporations, constantly against capitalism, constantly supporting against the rich and supporting redistribution of wealth," NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell noted during the "Media Mash" segment on the October 20 Hannity.

The fact is that the OWS movement is far-left, but the media "know how much the American people turn against that, which is why they're doing everything to shield the American people from what's going on in these protests." [video of "Media Mash" follows the page break]

Why not let the protesters

Submitted by Rovin on Fri, 10/21/2011 - 11:10am.

Why not let the protesters have a share of Jeffrey R. Immelt's wealth?

"General Electric, the nation’s largest industrial company, on Friday reported net earnings for the third quarter of $3.2 billion, up 57 percent from the same period in 2010 despite what the chief executive called a “volatile” economic environment."

Of course, this is Obama's top economic adviser, (who must have found some loopholes in not paying much in federal taxes), and Mr. Immelt will remind our dear protesters that this company is made up of shareholders, investors, teachers, first responders, etc. May be it's time to take a second look at a "windfall profits tax"---that worked so well when consumers picked up the final tab.

Another good Media Mash episode!

Submitted by Grumpy in Arizona on Fri, 10/21/2011 - 11:37am.

Edit: Ooops, put the "open thread comments here by mistake.

What I meant to post was that I very much enjoy these weekly synopsis’ of what the media is doing. Thank you Mr. B for making them available. The major networks coverage of OWS is disgraceful, as their shallow reporting benefits no one… and is rather boring to boot.

Uh hoh boy....

Submitted by NeoKong on Fri, 10/21/2011 - 11:36am.

The lefties sure picked the wrong horse to bet on this time.
Horrifying people is no way to win an election.
Also once again if they think no one will notice their total blackout on all the crime, drug use, and antisemitism they are the Little Bighorn of wrong.
Think for a moment of the hundreds of thousand of people who are witnessing these protest first hand just by simple proximity and how what they see on the big three networks and MSNBC and CNN is the exact opposite of what they saw in person and how that affects them.
Lying right to someone's face is no way to keep viewers.

Obama and embracing OWS

Submitted by NVRAT on Fri, 10/21/2011 - 11:45am.

Personally, I wish he would embrace the movement. Then all of us out here could quote Alensky`s and Aeyre`s Divide and Conquer through Anarchy and Communist Rule of Law. After all that is what they are all about. But, I don`t think Obama has the gonads.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

All but the dullest of dullards (read: liberals) and the willfully ignorant (read: liberals) have pretty much figured out the very cozy relationship between the faker Obama and Wall Street. He gets more donations from Wall Street than all the Repub candidates combined.

They have also figured out that the real problems are in Washington DC and not in Wall Street.

Unfortunately many (read: Obama voters) will never figure it out.
