Video: Bozell Discusses Media's Disinterest in Jump in Poverty Under Obama
"To the degree" that the jump in the poverty rate in the United States is being reported, it "is being reported as a problem for Obama" and "not a problem caused by Obama," NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell told Fox Business Network's David Asman on the September 13 edition of "Nightly Scoreboard."
"His policies have nothing to do with the effect," in the minds of liberal journalists, the Media Research Center founder argued.

Making people poor is Obama policy.

Everyone of his cabinet officials have been shutting down companies, cutting off energy, closing down business and factories, strangling industries, looting the Treasury and basically shaking down anyone who has two nickels to rub together all the while telling us that WE have to work harder so Obama's schemes can work.
With Obama and liberals,

With Obama and liberals, these "events" just "happen."
And you have to remember, with liberals, results don't matter; it's "good intentions" that count.
And the greedy rich's "fair share" is always "more."
Bad news for Obama is always "unexpected"

...when reported at all.
The media's obsession (during the Bush years) with slight fluctuations in GDP and unemployment rates, as well as the reporting of the War(s) daily/weekly/monthly death tolls, has all but disappeared. Poof! Gone!
Had President Bush's economic numbers resembled The Won's.....the media would have had us in full blown melt-down depressions four times during the Bush years. Had the Stimulus been Bush's, it would have long ago morphed into "Bush Lied (to the tune of almost a trillion dollars) ~ Jobs Died".
One last gripe for the day, whilst I'm comparing the media's "Bush Bad, Obama Good" meme. How is it that Katrina was Bush's fault, whilst Irene....and all of the resulting devastation from the flood waters is not Obama's fault? Can someone explain that to me?

Well we're not in a recession
Submitted by shirtsbyeric on Wed, 09/14/2011 - 11:14am.
Well we're not in a recession now but we were in 2007. I'm sure most of the unemployed would rather be in a 2007 recession.
What is "poor?"
Submitted by jon_torlin on Wed, 09/14/2011 - 10:29am.
I was surprised when I saw what they were defining as a poverty level. According to those numbers, I'm practically destitute.
Yet I have a job, my vehicle's paid for and in good working order, I have insurance(my choice, not obamacare), I can get food just fine, I have money in the bank, I have a smartphone like an iphone, I have a big screen TV (47") and a bluray player, no outstanding debts aside from the monthly bills which are all current, no late bills.
How does that make me poor? Granted, I live modestly and frugally but that's my choice.
On the other hand, gas is higher, food is higher, services have gone up because of Soetoro, things do get a bit tight and the economic situation just plain sucks beacuse Soetoro is actively trying to destroy this country, especially Texas.

This has been around in one
Submitted by motherbelt on Wed, 09/14/2011 - 10:46am.
This has been around in one form or another for years, but Heritage Foundation has a recent look at what it's like to be "poor" in America.
Also, one has to remember that "poor" doesn't count the value of all the services and financial aid that the poor receive. Even if all the assistance raises their "income" level to $35-$40,000, they are still classified as "poor."
yes, the definition surprised me

I also have relatives that approach political discussions from the angle of saying we one are of the "working poor" how can we vote against ..blah blah blah... After the third or fourth time I had to look it up. Our financial situation lines up similar to yours minus the electronic doo-dads. We're single income with children in HS and college.
Heritage.org had a really good article yesterday on Poverty in the US. I think we do a disservice to people who really are in poverty by using this word so liberally.
Indeed

I guess my definition of "poor" is more philosophical than literal but even the liberal use of it as you mentioned is incorrect, a disservice as you say.
And even then, if that really is the supposed poverty level, why give those people credit cards if all they will do is wind up in deeper debt?
That's just insane.
As for what I said about philosophical, I don't look at money as a means of determining how life is. Sure, it would be nice to have more money but it's all relative when you consider the soundness of your mind and heart.(not literal heart) If you are screwed up in the head, all the money in the world would be useless to you, such as Ted Turner. I never covet someone else's money unlike the liberals who want to tax everyone for everything. It's not my money, to each their own.

I know this isn't an OT, but it's too good to let go....

Andrew Sullivan is running around with his skirt up over his head, yelling that If Obama is defeated in 2012, there will be Civil War.
(bolds mine)
If you ask why I remain such a strong Obama supporter, it is because I see him as that rare individual able to withstand the zeal without becoming a zealot in response, and to overcome the recklessness of pure religious ideology with pragmatism, civility and reason. [Yes, he really said this] That’s why they fear and loathe him. Not because his policies are not theirs’. But because his temperament is their nemesis. If he defeats them next year, they will break, because their beliefs are so brittle, but will then reform, along Huntsman-style lines. [Yeah, right.] If they defeat him, I fear we will no longer be participating in a civil conversation, however fraught, but in a civil war.
Oooooookay, Andrew; whatever you say.....

My Heaven's, Andrew. You do take yourself seriously. Take a laxative. I'm sure you won't feel quite so grim. Moreover, your comments will end up in a much more suitable place.

Uninterest or disinterest
Submitted by jerryspies on Thu, 09/15/2011 - 6:08am.
For the benefit of the copy editors of this and virtually all American publications: uninterested means not interested; disinterest means impartial, without bias, doesn't care one way or the other.
