Media Mash: Newsweek 'Queen of Rage' Smear of Michele Bachmann Edition

By NB Staff | August 11, 2011 | 10:43

A  A

"I don't know what's worse," Tina Brown's selection of the wild-eyed Michele Bachmann cover photo for Newsweek or her "bold-faced lie" defending the choice, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell told Fox News's Sean Hannity on his program last night.

"There's not a person in the face of this Earth that looks at that picture and says, 'she looks more presidential,' which is what Tina Brown" insisted on the August 10 edition of MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

[video follows page break; MP3 audio is available here]

In fact, "that picture was done deliberately to make [Bachmann] look crazy" and was so bad that even the left-wing National Organization for Women has denounced the photo selection, the Media Research Center founder noted in last night's "Media Mash" segment.

What's more, while Newsweek was once a respectable, albeit biased magazine, it has since went bankrupt, was bought for one dollar by the "left-wing Internet rag" The Daily Beast, which Brown publishes. As such, "this is not serious journalism anymore" and is a "joke" of a brand, Bozell insisted.

Also discussed during the "Media Mash" segment was how the media have amplified liberal politicians' claims that the S&P downgrade of U.S. sovereign credit was the fault of the Tea Party.

Contact ALL NEWSWEEK

Submitted by FreeEnterprise on Thu, 08/11/2011 - 11:35am.

Contact ALL NEWSWEEK advertisers, and inform them that they should not be advertising in a magazine with such sexist views.

Social media, twitter, letters, emails. ALL should be used to inform the advertisers that THIS is what newsweek represents now, and they should stay FAR away unless they want their companies tied to this type of behavior.

Petrified

Tina and her ilk are petrified of the threat to their nanny state by real conservatives. This motivates them to lie and degrade their potential salvation. Go figure!

Submitted by John21 on Thu, 08/11/2011 - 11:40am.

It is not like this was a real news organization.
It is not like this was even a social organization
It is not like this organization had any honest information to share
It is not like this organization had any credibility
It is not like this organization was capability of impartiality
It is not like this organization had any intelligence
It is not like this organization had any morality
It is not like this organization had any journelistic talent

IT IS NEWSWEEK !!!!
A member in good standing of the propaganda media. Lead by the Obamabot tribe. The only people who think thay have anything valid to say are fellow far left liberals and Obamabot, you can not change the minds (they have none). The only reason that they are still in business is because of the stupid and foolish things that they print that get you to talk about this politically correct and morally dead organization.

STOP let them die by thier own hands, and by lack of paying subscribers.

lying liars all

Submitted by ohio granny on Thu, 08/11/2011 - 12:16pm.

Lying liars (as John F'ing Kerry once said about republicans) is the best thing that can be said of liberals/progressives. I like the idea of contacting the advertisers to let them know they will be boycotted if they continue to advertise in Newweek.

It is about time conservatives use some of the same tactics the left has used for years to target conservatives. I know they will whine and cry about how unfair it is. Let them whine and cry all they want.

Tina Brown

Still, Bachmann looks better than most of the "bag of bones" Madonnas on the cover of Cosmo. A magazine which under Brown built its circulation telling women that, if your are not fat and if you be sure to wear peculiar clothing, like our cover skank, you can be ravishingly beautiful, if you buy lots of our advertized paints and spackles. Featuring articles like "How to seduce the maintenance man" "Seven tips on selecting a vibrator cleaning system" and "Ten things your shoes say about you".

This is a website dedicated to whining and crying about how unfair everything is. It's the media's fault everyone doesn't think like me! I wish "conservatives" like yourselves understood irony, because then you'd see how funny this is.
