VIDEO: Bozell Slams NY Times, WaPo for Deputizing Readers to Comb Through Palin E-mails

By NB Staff | June 10, 2011 | 10:37

A  A

"I've never seen the news media do this, and it is beyond reproachful for them to have done this," NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell complained on the June 10 "Fox & Friends" regarding the New York Times and Washington Post calling for readers to volunteer to help them comb through the archive of Sarah Palin's official gubernatorial e-mail correspondence.

For the full segment, click the play button on the embed below the page break

"This is [the mainstream media] participating in a character assassination campaign" and shows "exactly how much the media despise Sarah Palin and to what ends they'll go to have her knocked out of this [presidential] race," the Media Research Center founder argued, adding that it was unimaginable that they'd go to the same lengths to vet a Democratic presidential candidate like Bill Clinton or Barack Obama.

Later in the segment, Bozell commented on CNN's Piers Morgan recently comparing the Tea Party to Hitler's Nazis and Mussolini's black shirts:

Fifty-eight percent of Americans identify themselves with the Tea Party. Way to go, CNN, now you know why you're in last place.

A conservative group should offer a reward for information proving Barack Obama engaged in an extramarital homosexual affair (It's no different from a heterosexual affair, right?).

If Larry Flynt and the NYT can engage in this level of journalism, why shouldn't we?

Better still,

Submitted by Mark81150 on Fri, 06/10/2011 - 11:14am.

Get a conservative group to start up a voter campaign exactly like the NYT's reader search, but going after Obama, then tell the NYT's you want to buy a full page ad promoting it. They will not accept it,.. will find a host of reasons excusing themselves,..

If they run it, they risk every dem getting the same treatment, and will not risk Obama losing.

If they refuse, it exposes their effort as the partisan hack job it is.

Imagine the fun of running their rejection letter in a full page ad in the Wall St. Journal, and Washington Times. The Grey Lady has always been a madam to the democrat party, now, she's down to the level of street whore. To have fallen so far,..

They don't even bother trying to hide their role as the DNC Newsletter.

Submitted by Mark81150 on Fri, 06/10/2011 - 11:41am.

They said the exact same thing about running against Ronald Reagan in 1980. Carter's people boasted far and wide, how his re-election was a shoe in, if Ron was their opponent.

Didn't work out so well for them, did it?

So when they get giddy about running against Sarah, notice too, they also get royally annoyed that she dares to run at all, after all their smears against her. They come unhinged, ranting foaming at the mouth entaged about her,... and still think they can beat her in a walk... they can't deal with her at all.. they undercut their own narratives about her constantly first running hundreds of stories about her on the level of high school girls catty facebook remarks..

They blame her......... because they waste so much time writing about her..

If they weren't so deranged in their treatment of her, they'd simply ignore her, that they can't says they are the obsessive ones, not her.

She was talking about Russia's proximity to Alaska. Yes. It is true. Alaska is right over the border from Russia. Notice how they cut that right out of the full statement.

Palin: We have trade missions back and forth, we do. It's very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia. As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there, they are right next to our state.

+++

Alaska - Russian Facts

Alaska and Russia share a border. The U.S.-Russian maritime boundary zigzags down the Bering Strait between the Asian and American land masses.

Alaska and Russia are less than 3 miles apart at their closest point in the Bering Strait where two islands, Russia's Big Diomede Island and Alaska's Little Diomede Island, are located. In winter it is possible to walk across the frozen Bering Strait border between these two islands. At its closest, the American mainland and the Russian mainland are 55 miles apart where Alaska's Seward Peninsula and Russia's Chukotka Peninsula reach out to each other.

Cities and towns in Alaska and the RFE are closer to each other than they are to their own national capitals.

UPPERDATE, 12:00am March 9: The ex-governor's dad, Chuck Heath, tells Associated Press:

Palin's father said Monday they had little choice, given their location in Skagway.

"There was no road out of there at that time," said retired teacher Chuck Heath, reached by phone in Wasilla. "The ferry schedule was very erratic. We had no doctor in Skagway. The plane schedule was very erratic. The winds dictated whether the planes could come in or not."

....

Palin's father said his family probably boarded the train for the Whitehorse hospital only twice — once when a daughter had rheumatic fever, and once when his son, also named Chuck, severely burned his leg and an infection set in.

"We much preferred to use our facilities because my insurance didn't cover anything in Whitehorse. And even though they have socialized medicine, I still had to pay the bill, being an American citizen," Heath said.

Heath worked part-time for the White Pass & Yukon Railroad and had a pass allowing him and his family to ride for free.

The train in the 1960s often was the only option for getting to a doctor, Skagway Mayor Tom Cochran said

I used to be like you in the past, having negative opinions on socialism. But my first trips to the United Kingdom and Sweden changed my mind.

Poverty is far less in Europe and the people are much healthier due to free health care. Americans are, for example, by far the fattest people on the face of the planet. American students are falling way behind, while European students are excelling. Shootings are so rare in the UK that policemen don't even carry guns. And European countries are more self-sufficient with their corporations and are less dependent on foreign imports.

Capitalism and socialism are not incompatible. Successful private businesses are everywhere in Europe.

Giygas, You are a liar. I am

Submitted by Liberallies on Sat, 06/11/2011 - 11:26am.

Giygas,

You are a liar. I am sorry, you have NEVER traveled to England or you would not be saying the outrageous lies that you are saying.

1) Americans are one of the fattest people in the world, agreed. But do you know why? It is not due to lack of money, poverty, not having enough. It is actually the opposite!!!!! Because there is so much abudance, and so much extra people can afford getting extra food!!!!! America'sproblem is lack of self-control, not lack of money or food or nutrition!

2) While not all British bobbies carry guns, more and more of them are. Also all SWAT teams in England and other specialized units including anti-terrorism units, airport security all carry arms. Additionally, many bobbies who do not carry arms while walking the beat, have locked arms in the trunk of their car! and before you keep on claiming that shootings are rare in England, read up on this story. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/jun/02/cumbria-shootings-slaughter-cou...

3) I completely agree that education in the USA is failling, but it is also failling in Europe. And why is it falling in the USA? because it is a socialilst modeled where competition is not allowed in education! The unions control about 90% of our education.

Now, compared to the USA public schools, England education might be slightly better, but give me a break, it is also a sad joke where almost 40% of students do not meet the low educational standards of the English system! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-13710417

Where do you get your propaganda from? You never traveled to England.

4) AND You STILL have NOT addressed the fact that Spain, Portugal, Greece, Ireland have all been socialist nations whose economy is now, as of this moment, completely and utterly failing! EXPLAIN! Sticking with your propaganda about England is proving that you are 100% dishonest.

Talking about ONE nation to claim socialism is great is disingenious at best. Now given the fact that 99% of what you are saying about England is a lie, well you are being 100% disigenious.

the fact that you do not want to address

5) And you are a huge liar when you say there is no poverty in Europe! LOL Europe is full, full of poverity. The English slums, the French slums are as bad or worst than the ghettos in the USA. What the Europeans are good at is hiding their poverity. For example, in Spain, where half of my family is from wna where i have cousins, uncles, etc, the poverity has been pushed to the mountains. There is a great amount of povery in Europe.

but here is the great English economy failing and shrinking...http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2011/jan/25/uk-economy-shrunk-point-five-per-cent

You might want to do your research before spewing such incredibly nonsense.

It is the economy, stupid. Obama will be destroyed, demolished, utterly embarrassed in novemeber 2012 if the economy keeps on sliding. But heck, socialism works so well.

It is all Sarah Palin's and Bush's fault. Poor Obama can't get the economy going because of Bush and Sarah Palin. No doubt individuals like you will be crying when Obama loses and of course you will blame Bush and Palin.

Asking readers to comb through Pailn's emails is just another confirmation of what everyone with an objective mind knows.

Since they're doing it, the fun thing would be if they can't find anything damaging. No meat. No fodder. Nothing of substance.

I mean sure, they will at minimum find quips or maybe a snide remark or two. They will take things out of context. They will purposely reinterpret. They will misrepresent. But what if there's really no meat?

How disappointed they will be. Worse yet for the progressive army would be that in reading through 1000's of emails, they actually learn that Palin was a competent governor and a good person. What if the emails taken as a whole demonstrate that Palin is good person and some develop begrudging admiration for her?

That would be sweet. Now, I'll put down the hookah.
