NewsBusters publisher and Media Research Center president Brent Bozell appeared on the April 22 "Fox & Friends" to discuss the media's double standard on rising gas prices.

In short, in 2006, the media blamed then-President Bush, but in 2011, anyone but Obama seems to be at fault as far as the media are concerned.

You weren't around when we were discussing it earlier, (why don't you go and read the OT) and now you stroll in out of the blue to respond to my posting, (which I happened to KNOW those of us who were discussing this earlier would be interested in) with your snarky comment, and use it to get a Newt Gingrich stab in too, with a little nod at not "minimizing" it.

The ONLY long time members with whom I had previously had very good relationships but have been recently crossing swords are you and strat. And in neither case was it my choice to do so. Nor do I have any idea what the reason for it is, but I am hopeful that strat and I have at least gotten past the roughest patch. And I hope to do so with you too. I definitely haven't enjoyed being at odds with either of you.

Regarding all of the other long time members with whom I've gotten along well in the past: I still do! In fact, I would say in most cases, the degree of mutual respect and amicability is greater than ever.

My posting style hasn't changed one iota since the day I arrived here nearly four years ago. I don't initiate personal attacks, but if someone punches me, I'll punch back. I do my best to argue fairly and be respectful in debate, and will gladly source my assertions to the extent it is reasonable and possible to do so. I like to engage in good-natured banter with others, to inject a bit of needling and add some humor along the way. If I encounter a post which I think is wildly off the mark, over the top, paints all liberals as disgusting vermin, or something else equally offensive, I won't name call, but I might very well post a snarky comment to its author. And if a claim is made which I believe is untrue or extremely dubious, I will request a link.

Now that is a rough summary of my personal style of posting. If you can show me some specific examples of inappropriate conduct--preferably actual comments reflecting it--on my part, and explain why it's inappropriate, I would welcome it.

motherbelt is the one who FIRST attacked me. My initial response to her was not an attack on her at all. At WORST, it was a slight needle directed at Newt Gingrich's characterization of the mid-50's as the high point of America's history. Please read it.

For that really pretty bland observation, motherbelt got angry and responded by personally slamming me, claiming I didn't know what I was commenting about, etc.--when in fact I had already posted a comment on the other thread and was very familiar with the incident.

So, then, yes I responded to her slam at me with equivalent criticism of her. But, still, and this is very important, Shawn: I DID NOT SAY MB WAS BEING OVER DRAMIATIC ABOUT *A PERSON BEING BEATEN*. My point was simply that her implication that AMERICA WAS ON THE VERGE OF DOOM was a bit overdramatic. The beating was awful, and I stated clearly in my first post that I was in no way minimizing its outrage.

But as a precursor of doom, I think a 14-year-old girl participating in the murder of eleven human beings over fifty years ago could have been more reasonably viewed as a harbinger of a society in peril than this particular beating, as horrible as it was.

I guess the reasoning process (flawed though you deem it to be) is that the gratuitous insertion of a conservative figure (despite how un-conservative folks may think him) seemed like a "shot across the bow."

Mentioning Gingrich added nothing to the narrative of whether or not civilization is more in decline now than 50+ years ago. A better characterization of my point would be that although things many seem worse now than then, perception is not necessarily reality. And an assault by a 14-year-old girl in the Spring of 2011 no more presages the imminent unraveling of our social and moral fabric than did the much more horrific crimes committed by a girl of the same age over half a century ago. While my reference to Gingrich may have been unnecessary to make that point, it nevertheless was germane to the point and therefore not entirely gratuitous I would disagree that the thrust of my initial reply was "clearly understood" by noting it has been variously (mis)construed as an attack on motherbelt, a shot at NB conservatives, and a minimizing of the McDonald's violence as well as a defense of the assailants.

That said, I will again admit to taking a minor swipe at Gingrich's exalted view of the 50's, but it wasn't my intent to politicize the thread and certainly not to launch a shot across the ideological bow of NewsBusters and the majority of its members--just as I would never consider a sarcastic aside about...well, Jimmy Carter, for example, to be a personal attack on all lib posters at this website.

From the looks of it, hearing from the other side. It was a man that was getting pounded on. A cross dressing man that was getting pounded on. A known cross dessing male prostitute that was getting pounded on. A known cross dressing male prostitute that would not leave the female bathroom when requested to do so by females so coded by their chromosomes.

A known cross dressing male prostitute with a criminal record of assault as well.

Now my entire history consists of the art of the barfight. Not female fights. But I have seen a few female fights and frankly, females fight like girls. I watched the video and never saw a punch land that could have caused any damage. I did see a lot of hair dragging. And one kick that did unknown damage but was long before the seizure.

And it is claimed the seizure was faked. The known cross dressing mail prostitute with a history of assault simply got up when the police arrived.

I know it looked horrible to uninitiated. (and the initiated don't talk about fight club) But it appears to be a case of a known cross dressing male prostitute picking a fight with 2 females in a bathroom. Possibly told to get out. Refusing. One or more of the 2 females said get out or get carried out and the known cross dressing male prostitute with a history of assault said try it missy. And the fight was on. Also from the video. McDonalds employees did try to intervene as well as the older white lady. But the 2 black ladies seemed determined to show the cross dressing male prostitute with a history of assault to the door. Dragging him by his hair most of the way.

I am sorry motherbelt. I know it looked horrible. But to this old squid, it appears a known male prostitute with a history of assault got his head used for a mop and his butt used for a broom by 2 real females that will probably be willing to submit to a chromosome test to explain why the have a valid reason to be in a female bathroom. Yes. It looked horrible. But no lasting damage was done to any party. And it was pretty much over as there was only inches to go to the door when the fake seizure started. I think the ladies were probably going to end it at the doorway anyway.

And shame on you Uncle Jer, you could have been a little kinder in your response the initial post.

PS: Here is the Police Report. Note - the officer reports the redness on the face of the lady that tried to intervene. Note - the officer does not report any marks on the known cross dressing male prostitute with a history of assault. Now, it may have been because paramedics were busy with the known cross dressing male prostitute with a history of assault. Still, kinda strange. Most especially as the officer did interview the victim and failed to note any redness as with the second older white lady victim.

Further PS: I hope I have not caused any further anxiety for motherbelt but it does appear this is a case of media bias in reporting this to be a bigger thing than it was.

I am shocked over the revelation about the victim being a cross-dressing male. When the issue arose on the other thread, I watched the video again and it sure appeared to be a female. (He) was being dragged by the hair, which certainly appeared to be the hair of a young woman.

I don't remember if the MSM openly connected Bush/Cheney oil interests with the rise in oil and gas prices a few years ago, but a lot of liberal haters did. I'm fairly certain that some of their voices probably made it onto network reports. I'm surprised they haven't tried to connect the latest surge in prices to Bush and Cheney.

Military deaths, high gas prices, Guantanamo, war.....sounds like when Bush was in office except one BIG difference.....no protests and no constant repeating on the evening news. Remember the nightly death counts as lead off stories by MSM when Bush was in office? None now. War protests around the world about the hate monger Bush.....same war situation and silence. Even Obama himself, as a Senator, called for investigations when gas hit $3/gallon. $4+/gallon barely gets a mention.
