MRC's Bozell Blasts Media Coverage of Obama SOTU on Friday's 'Fox & Friends'

By NB Staff | January 28, 2011 | 18:46

A  A

When Republican presidents in years past delivered their State of the Union addresses, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell noted this morning, "no sooner had the words, 'God bless America,' left their lips than the analysts were there... just pouncing on them, pointing out any discrepancy, pointing out any controversy, ridiculing any mistake."

Now "along comes Barack Obama, and the same outlets, now they have this national, maybe international fainting spell," Bozell complained to Fox News Channel's Steve Doocy on Friday's "Fox & Friends."

Smelling Salts? They need a snow shovel of Truth upside the head (don't care how violent or what sissy got scared by it). Mr. Bozell, we're all sick of these morons but as long as there are Liberal Parots there's going to be those who feed them stale crackers.

Brent Bozell has it right by this Indie

Submitted by neutron on Fri, 01/28/2011 - 7:25pm.

I'm neither a Demlican or a Republicrat. I'm a registered voter without a party, but I am a loyal American patriot who loves the constitution. I'm both liberal and conservative, depending on the topic. But that's not why I became a poster to NewsBusters.

I'm here because Brent Bozell (and Jodie Miller) and the bloggers are focused on one point: fairness in media. Brent's observation about no matter what Reagan, Bush, or Michelle Bachman say, event before they say it, they are wrong and pilloried by the mass media. When Carter, Clinton, and now with Obama giving a SOTU speech, they cannot praise enough. Fact checking? Forget it; that's only done for Republicans.

The mass media has almost convinced me to become a Republican, by their unbalanced coverage. But when I look in the details, I just can't join a party that I don't really belong to. If Brent Bozell starts a 3rd party, but until then, I'll keep up with NewsBusters and vote my conscience!

Exactly neutron

Submitted by jpatch on Fri, 01/28/2011 - 10:44pm.

neutron...

Thank you so very much for this post. I am the exact same way and here's what I cannot understand: Why aren't there more people like you and me and the rest of us here that easily recognize that at the very least, the majority of the media is leftwardly corrupt? It's just like you said; if you are honest with yourself and you pay attention to most of the newsmedia, then you become persuaded to be conservative because of how pathetic the left is in their pathological slandering of all things "right".

Anyway I hope more people in America have woken up like you and the rest of us to see that the media is unfair and corrupt. Maybe then they will see that the Constitution and conservatism are not evil and that the opposite is true; most of those things and people that the liberals in the media are bashing are what make America the greatest and most free nation in the history of mankind. They reveal themselves on a dialy basis and yet only a portion of us can see. What must happen for the rest of America to see the light?

Anyway, thanks again for your post. It was a pleasure to read, felt like I wrote it myself.

Freedom and truth forever.

Do you mind my asking if you were first

Submitted by Lipton on Fri, 01/28/2011 - 11:11pm.

turned off by the media bias or if you became against the media because you discovered Newsbusters?  I am just curious as I have always voted R (raised as a republican) and I remember noticing the bias in the national news even in high school.  They would phrase things in a certain way or interpret poll results in a questionable manner.  It really bothered me.

I'd like for the whole truth to be told.  I feel like journalists are like an attorney arguing a case, except there is no opposing side.  When you have a Democrat president than you get the defensive side, and when you have a republican you get the prosecuter.

There is so much wrong with the media today (in my opinion) that it allows both parties to rot behind their smoke and mirrors.  Republicans don't hold their reps feet to the fire, because they don't know what to believe.  Democrats see only sunshine and rainbows so they don't demand more from their party.

I was just curious as to how an independent came to the conclusion that the media stinks.  My perceptions is skewed by my upbringing and longtime conservative beliefs.

I'd like to thank Hollywood for renewing my interest in reading.

Chris Matthews

Submitted by Servo1969 on Fri, 01/28/2011 - 8:11pm.

Matthews absolutely despises Michele Bachmann for her "thrill up your leg" reply back in Nov. 2010. I imagine he thinks to himself "That stupid b____ tried to make me look like a fool on live television!" He will never forget it. He will not rest until her political career is destroyed and he will do it himself if he has to!

"and he's succeeding at it"

Submitted by motherbelt on Fri, 01/28/2011 - 8:02pm.

Well, with us, anyway!!

The howler of the piece is Christiane Amanpour talking about Obama speaking of America's "exceptionalism."

What a joke.  The guy spends 3 years (don't forget the campaign) downplaying America's greatness, and now all of a sudden decides to pay lip service to it, and she is all agog.

Regarding Chris Matthews' attack on Michelle Bachmann, take a gander at this from  The DC:

Why Does MSNBC Tolerate Chris Matthews' Misogyny?

Matthews got so wound up in his misogyny that he lost his composure and control. He referred to Representative Bachmann as a “balloon head” three times; referred to her as “this woman” five times (foregoing the proper salutation of Congresswoman or Representative), and just for good measure, used an alleged quote from Stephen Schmidt: “She doesn’t know anything.”

A history of Matthews' previous episodes of misogyny follows.

It's a good read.  One wonders, indeed, why MSNBC tolerates it.

that the party and its supporters who are out of power present themselves more extremely than when they are in power?

that Media Matters and Newsbusters present exactly the same event from extremely opposite, at times silly, perspectives?

that both "sides" intelligently manipulate the news, though not wisely?

that individuals who passionately believe they are right do not do a whole lot of listening while hearing "dog whistles" that affirm what they believe they hear?

Congresswoman Bachmann deserves respect as do the voters of Minnesota's 6th district.

President Obama deserves respect as do the voters of the United States.

And "teh gays" are here, always have been, and deserve equal rights.

What is the benefit in demonizing fellow citizens?

Submitted by UpNorth on Sun, 01/30/2011 - 1:39am.

earned, not given.  "teh gays" as you call them, already have equal rights.  Some of them, the militant ones, want special rights.  DADT and it's repeal is proof of that.

If you're really worried about "demonizing fellow citizens", you're just about 3 weeks too late.  Perhaps, you should have spoken up, oh let's say, the day after the Tuscon shootings?  When some on the left were falling all over themselves to blame Palin, the right, the Tea Party, conservatives, the Republicans, and Americans exercising their right of free speech.

And, your first sentence is a laugher, the democrat party is presenting itself as extreme every day, and last time I looked, they still control the Senate and White House.

To re-elect Obama would be like the Titanic backing up and hitting the iceberg again.

Do you actually do more than just plop liberal, "everyone's equally at fault" clap trap posts here, or do you lift a finger and really read the articles and the sources and the confirming links and video clips that the writers AND smart blogger/members painstakingly supply?

that both "sides" intelligently manipulate the news, though not wisely?

(Yawn.) I'll try again....

Do you actually do more than just plop liberal, "everyone's equally at fault" clap trap posts here, or do you lift a finger and really read the articles and the sources and the confirming links and video clips that the writers AND smart blogger/members painstakingly supply???

OMO. Still not registering, is it? Let's try a third time....

citizens as it is letting them know we aren't falling for their bullsh*t liberal lies.

When liars are called out, they tend to fall back on the mind set that the best defense is an offense and burst forth with noisome claptrap and attempt to bewilder their foe with balderdash.

If you personally want to respect the phony, empty suit pos trash in the Oval Office, go right ahead.

Don't presume, however, to tell me what that lying poseur deserves, and don't EVEN start with that lame headed, "Well, the 'office' itself deserves respect", as the escapee from the dung heap of sleazy Chicago Democratic politics has managed to sully, soil, and stink out forever what was once a revered position in American politics.

If the worthless, inexperienced husk that is Obama can reach the acme of United States politics, then the system that put him where he is, is corrupt.

As is any person who would avail themseves of that system.
