Yeah, this isn't the sports open thread, but as it's now been two days since this story broke, and Tiger has yet to go before cameras to explain what's going...what's going on?
Amid a flurry of questions about his actions early Friday when he crashed an SUV at his Isleworth mansion, Tiger Woods postponed an interview Saturday with Florida Highway Patrol troopers, but the golfer has agreed to be interviewed today, the agency said.
The interview was supposed to take place after 3 p.m. Saturday but was postponed shortly beforehand by Woods' agent, Mark Steinberg of IMG. Troopers were asked to return today, said FHP spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Montes. Woods' wife, Elin Nordegren Woods, Friday told troopers seeking to interview Woods that he was sleeping. They agreed to return the next day.
Meanwhile, the Orange County Sheriff's Office has provided the 911 calls in the case to the highway patrol, the investigating agency. They will be released after a trooper determines whether they are needed as evidence — possibly as soon as today.

Following up on what botg said, a lot of us probably even read books, too! I just finished a great book called.....drumroll.....Blonde! It's by my favorite author, Joyce Carol Oates. It's a fictionalized account of the life of Norma Jeane Baker, a.k.a. Marilyn Monroe. Oates uses what is known about her life to imagine what the rest of it might have been like. So, Blonde, if you have in interest in M.M., or if you just enjoy a really good novel, I'd recommend Blonde. It was so enjoyable that I was really bummed out when I finished it.
That's how you judge a book....being bummed at the end.
LOL....I shall have to buy a copy to take to one of my favorite places ever. The Orchideas Inn in Costa Rica....where they have the World Famous Marilyn Monroe Bar. (behind the pool downstairs in the picture).
Wow! Thanks for the link. I hope to have a drink in that bar someday. Lately I've been fantasizing about actually moving to Costa Rica. I've done a little research and learned that it's a peaceful country with a low crime rate, excellent health care system, and average temperatures in the 70's. Furthermore it's a relatively short flight to St. Pete FL, where my mom lives six months out of the year. I know I can't make it happen overnight, but I'm thinking I should get out of Dodge!

In Tiger's case (and I've posted this before) we can rely upon the MSM to get all the data. They will investigate. Even though there's a significant conflict brewing -- does the MSM become Bush-like aggressive and potentially take down a black man; or do they tread lightly here so as not to bring racism into this. So it's still not all investigation here, unlike the Macacca remarks made by a white republican. But it's also not like climategate, which really didn't happen \sarc.

The most recent story I saw was suggesting that Tiger's wife was asking
him about the stories that have been circulating that he was out

It appears the only people who know what really happened are Tiger and the wife, and so far, they ain't talking.
Who's the host of Face the Nation? I've never watched it, but I flipped on the TV and this a-hole had Dede (what's her name) from NY on and is trying to convince everyone that she is the true Republican, and that the GOP is doing nothing but trying to "siezecontrol" and lock reasonable people out of the party, like Dede (who endorsed the Dim candidate, BTW, and has told the GOP not to cave in to pressure from the Right), and says that moderate is a dirty word so far as the GOP is concerned.
I'll bet my salary that the Face the Nation host has never, ever used the phrase "sieze control" with the DNC. Is this going to be the Dim's playbook phrase going into 2010?

The Los Angeles Times reports that President Obama and fellow Democrats in particular are in process of assembling a new jobs package that would devote unspecified billions of dollars to projects meant to put people back on payrolls in 2010. The House version of "stimulus 3.0" may even be pushed through as quickly as next month.
The Times cites Democratic House members disappointed that Obama's $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act wasn't largerand pledging to press for a new, substantial spending plan to address unemployment.
"I hope we don't play around the edges with this and we do what will work. Invest the money now," said Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif. "We have to create jobs, and we have to create them right away."
Yeah, I feel so much better knowing Barbara Lee is involved.
Gee, I don't suppose they would consider doing what we all know needs to be done to create "real" jobs, now would they?
We're beyond broke as it is, and cannot afford the spending insanity that has already taken place, much less any more of it.

The military officers' oath does not require them to obey the orders of the president, so it stands to reason that there's nothing to legally prevent them from challenging him. Only the enlisted men's oath requires obedience to president. The officers' oath requires them to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. I'm no attorney or Constitutional scholar, but it seems to me that the officers' oath was designed to allow the military to remove a president if he himself proved to be a domestic enemy. Since it's the military's duty to defend the Constitution, I'm wondering what's taking them so long!

that his people are probably figuring how best to spin it. I'm sure the companies he endorses want his reputation to stay clean. But that doesn't answer the basic question of "How is the public entitled to this information?
If indeed he and his wife had a fight, if he stormed out of the house, if she ran after him , if he lost control of his car and hit a hydrant and a tree, - and? So how does any of that really affect you and me?
but i think he does owe an explanation to his fan base some of whom have spent thousands of dollars in supporting him and his endorsements, it kinda goes with the job.

A lot of his endorsements are based on his character. If he shows bad character, he would stand to lose a LOT of money as a result. Bad character would be in this case fooling around with another woman, if it were true that it happened.
Given what happened with the crash of the SUV, he might lose some other endorsements if his character comes into question.
The Tiger Woods brand goes a long ways and is not a simple thing to fix. I fear whatever happens in this case, he's been damaged.
Its totally possible that Elin took one of Tiger's 9 irons and sliced one through the "Woods". Why would she do that?.... Tiger's probably been shootin' on someone else's "greens" is all that comes to mind at this moment.
Be afraid. The Dim candidates to replace Kennedy are all radicals. For example, Mike Capuano. Here's what he says: "George Bush and Dick Cheny used fear to justify torture and abuses of our most basic civil liberties. .... I'm Mike Capuano, and I approve this message because there will always be people like Dick Cheney that we need to stand up to". Not terrorists. Not islamic fundamentalists. Just people like VP Cheney. And it's the first time in my life I've heard a candidate extend his "I approve" remarks with a personal attack on an individual. Astounding.
Pure hate. From a hateful candidate from a hateful state -- Massachussetts. This is what we have to look forward to, folks -- he's not running on positive note; he's openly saying "I hate the GOP and from Day 1 I promise to use my hate". Terrorists will be treated as victims by this guy. BTW, Mike Dukakas endorses this SOB.

In a word, we are in deep doo-doo economically as a nation, and there is no way Obama is going to replace any of these know-nothings from academia, who have been so polluted by the Keynesian model (which only works in the classroom) that they are beyond hope, and hovering somewhere between worthless and useless.

Authorities now believe that one of the officers struggled with gunman and possiblly wounded him with his service revolver before being fatally shot by the perpetrator.
On Halloween, something similar happened in the Seattle area. Two cops were sitting in their patrol car when another car pulled alongside. The officer sitting in the passenger seat was a rookie female cop who sensed danger (never underestimate a woman's intuition, guys) and yelled at her partner to duck. She reacted in time, but her partner was shot dead. Later that month, police shot and wounded a suspect, Christopher Monfort, who is still hospitalized. He's also suspected in the firebombing of seven Seattle police vehicles in early October. He has a history of radical anti-government activism and just happens to be a Barack Obama look-alike.
The news of the shooting this morning made my stomach turn. What a horrible, horrible waste! Since the employees described the assassin as black, I'm sure we'll be hearing from Janet Napolitano about the potential danger posed by lone African-American activists, right?

The military officers' oath does not require them to obey the orders of the president, so it stands to reason that there's nothing to legally prevent them from challenging him. Only the enlisted men's oath requires obedience to president. The officers' oath requires them to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. I'm no attorney or Constitutional scholar, but it seems to me that the officers' oath was designed to allow the military to remove a president if he himself proved to be a domestic enemy. Since it's the military's duty to defend the Constitution, I'm wondering what's taking them so long!

Given what happened with the crash of the SUV, he might lose some other endorsements if his character comes into question.
The Tiger Woods brand goes a long ways and is not a simple thing to fix. I fear whatever happens in this case, he's been damaged.

Sure, he might run a few of them off for show, but he will replace them with cookie-cutter copies.
The truly scary thing is, these are the people who will be shaping the upcoming "Jobs Summit."
After this farce is concluded, the SCM will then distract the American Idol-watching sheeple, telling them that this is a "bold move" on the part of the visionary Obama, who, after all, is so much smarter than us mere mortals, and knows what is best for us.
The sheeple, mollified yet again, will eat it up, and then return their rapt attention to the idiot box, patting themselves on the back for their brilliant vote last November, in between bites of their TV dinners (complete with the blue sauce), and plotting their next family excursion to the local Wal-Mart.
I can just hear it now, "Well golly, Matilda, that thar feller Obama sho' is busy tryin' to fix this mess Bush run off an' left us with, ain't he?"
Meanwhile, nothing real is going to improve economically, and the destruction to the American private sector will continue its inexorable march onward.

The officer sitting in the passenger seat was a rookie female cop who sensed danger (never underestimate a woman's intuition, guys) and yelled at her partner to duck. She reacted in time, but her partner was shot dead. Later that month, police shot and wounded a suspect, Christopher Monfort, who is still hospitalized. He's also suspected in the firebombing of seven Seattle police vehicles in early October. He has a history of radical anti-government activism and just happens to be a Barack Obama look-alike.
The news of the shooting this morning made my stomach turn. What a horrible, horrible waste! Since the employees described the assassin as black, I'm sure we'll be hearing from Janet Napolitano about the potential danger posed by lone African-American activists, right?
